LME: incompatible formulas for groups
Dear R-Users,
I am currently working with LME to analyse repeated measures data. I encounter a problem when including both a random effect and a correlation structure with different grouping levels into the LME model. The error message is:
Error in lme.formula(diameter ~ flowers*timef + competition*timef + population*timef, :

Rails Recipes question - authenticating users
Didn''t think I''d be back so quick with another question but here goes:
In this recipe for the signin or login (as I call it) there are these
two lines if the user authenticates correctly:
session[:user] = user.id
redirect_to :action => session[:intended_action],
:controller => session[:intended_controller]
So I''m not seeing anything in the way of an explanation

Config and other areas of struggle
Confused me for ages.. until one day!
Which out of the listed machines (on the router) is the one you are needing the port forwarded to?
Forward that machine to the port you require, I would have used a lower port number 8010 or another unused port.

Fitting with error on data
As this forum proved to be very helpful, I got another question...
I'd like to fit data points on which I have an error, dx and dy, on each x
and y. What would be the common procedure to fit this data by a linear model
taking into account uncertainty on each point? Would weighting each point by
1/sqrt(dx2+dy2) (and taking dx and dy as relative errors) in a lm() fit do
the job? I would like to

gauss.hermite function
Hi,
I am trying to find a function that returns simply the weights and
points of an n point gauss hermite integeration, so that I can use them
to fit a non-standard likelihood.
I have found some documentation for the function 'gauss.hermite' written
by jim lindley, but can't find the actual binary on CRAN
I'm aware there are lots of functions like glmm, glmmML etc to fit mixed

Right shift for normality
Hello,
My data is discrete, taking values between around -5 and +5.
I cannot give bounds for the values. So I consider it as
numerical data and not categorical data.
The histogram has a 'normal' shape, so
I test for normality via a chisquare statistic (by calculating the expected
values by hand).
When I use the sample mean and variance, the normality hypothesis has to be
rejected.

Config and other areas of struggle
I think some fundamental misunderstanding thing is perhaps going on.
What is the icecast server that I can see here: http://home.dayme.me:28888 supposed to be streaming?
And
If you use the local IP of that icecast server on another local machine (or same machine) can you then see the admin page?

Specifying mixins
Hi folks,
Can anyone share some accumulated wisdom about the best way to spec
mixins in general, and (Jamis Buck-style) ActiveRecord "concerns" in
particular?
The standard situation here is that there''s a bunch of functionality,
related by concept if not by implementation, that one wants to inherit
in many different classes (e.g. ActiveRecord models) without having to

Config and other areas of struggle
Hi Damien (where Dan come from??)
I use 81.174.146.88:28888
Bet your router does not have loopback
So if you are using sam broadcaster it needs the icecast settings input to it, so it can forward to the icecast server.
If you use the local IP address of the icecast server you will see what I see.
Regards

Virbiage FT201 IAX Hard Phone
Does anyone have any recent news on the Virbiage FT201 IAX Hardphone?
I'd *really really* like to deploy these phones instead of SIP
hardphones, and I can't help but wonder if I'm going to shoot myself in
the foot (or another sensitive area) by deploying a ton of SIP phones
just to find the IAX Hardphones were released a week later...
Thanks,
Brian D'Arcy

Config and other areas of struggle
What are you using to forward the 'music' to the Icecast server that I can see? If you are using darkice for example, have you configured the darkice.cfg so that it matches icecast's configuration? Icecast appears to be working, but has no stream.
If I knew what the passwords were, I could configure my darkice on my pi to forward music to your Icecast and it would stream it - you just

I’m listening to you both,
Its working, but not for you locally, could be a firewall issue on your PC?
perhaps changing the port to 8010?
If other servers can be seen on the WAN from your internal network it could be a port conflict, or firewall issue.
