Q about RSQLite
Happy new year, dear listers, I have a question about Rsqlite. when I fetch the data out of sqlite database, there is something like '\r\n' at the end of last column. Here is the example: Sepal_Length Sepal_Width Petal_Length Petal_Width Species 1 5.1 3.5 1.4 0.2 setosa\r\n 2 4.9 3.0 1.4 0.2 setosa\r\n 3

multiple tapply
Hi folk, I tried this and it works just perfectly tapply(iris[,1],iris[5],mean) but, how to obtain a single table from multiple variables? In tapply x is an atomic object so this code doesn't work tapply(iris[,1:4],iris[5],mean) Thanx and great summer holidays Gianandrea -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/multiple-tapply-tp18868063p18868063.html Sent from the R help

New R package sqldf
sqldf is an R package for running SQL select statements on one or more R data frames. It is optimized for convenience making it useful for ad hoc queries against R data frames. Given an SQL select statement whose tables are the names of R data frames it: - sets up the database (by default it transparently sets up an in memory SQLite database using RSQLite; however, MySQL via RMySQL, can be

Counting things
I've completed an experiment and want to summarize the results. There are two things I like to create. 1) A simple count of things from the data.frame with predictions 1a) Number of predictions with probability greater than x 1b) Number of predictions with probability greater than x that are really true In SQL, this would be, "Select count(predictions) from

A strange behaviour in the graphical function "curve"
I thought the curve function was a very flexible way to draw functions. So I could plot funtions like the following: # I created a function to produce functions, for instance: fp <- function(m,b) function(x) sin(x) + m*x + b # So I can produce a function like this ff <- fp(-0.08, 0.2) ff(1.5) # Is the same as executing sin(1.5) - 0.08*1.5 + 0.2 # Let's plot this

R2WinBUGS sending variables as factors
Hello R and BUGS users, I am writing a heirarchical model in R to send to BUGS via R2WinBUGS and I am finding it difficult to get the model to run. I seem to be having two problems. 1) I can't seem to send variables classed as factors (Month), is there a way do this? 2) Checking the Log in WinBUGS I can see that the model is Syntactically correct, but Bugs is not able to recognise the the

cacheSweave fails when used in conjunction with rjags
Hi all, I use the excellent packages rjags and cacheSweave, and unfortunately seem to have found an incompatibility between them. Below are a minimal .Rnw file and corresponding JAGS model file which illustrate the problem: *** JAGS model file; name=j.bug *** model { mu ~ dnorm(0,1.0E-5) sigma ~ dunif(0,100) for(i in 1:length(y)) { y[i] ~ dnorm(mu,sigma) } } *** *** .Rnw

Indexing by factor misfeature
Yesterday I was biten by a feature, which I find too dangerous. I wanted to use a factor `Subject?? as index into a data frame, whose row names were the levels of this factor. So there a 2 different possible interpretations of this: Either Subject is coerced to numeric or to character. The intended interpretation was, of course, `as.character(Subject)'. R did `as.numeric(Subject)??. This will

array() misfeature
Version: 2.5.1 array() is inconsistent when given non-integral dimensions: > zz <- array(0,dim=c(4,3.01)) > dim(zz) [1] 4 3 > zz <- array(0,dim=c(201,4.05)) Error in dim(data) <- dim : dim<- : dims [product 804] do not match the length of object [814] [IMHO the code that did this is broken. My copy of it has been fixed. Consistent behavior and/or a clearer error message

misfeature: forced file.copy() of a file over itself truncates the file ...
Try this: fn <- "tmp.dat" x <- 1:3 dump("x",file=fn) file.info(fn) ## 9 bytes file.copy(paste("./",fn,sep=""),fn,overwrite=TRUE) file.info(fn) ## 0 bytes (!!) Normally file.copy() checks and disallows overwriting a file with itself, but it only checks whether character string 'from' is the same as character string 'to'

R CMD check bug or misfeature
This is a bug/misfeature report for R CMD check. The function tools:::.check_packages_used_in_tests Gives an apparently unintended error when checking the tests in the contributed package rcdd_1.1-3.tar.gz as found on CRAN. See the script below for details. The actual error reported is totally mysterious. * checking for unstated dependencies in tests ... NOTE Error in

set_default_values rocket science - continuing after_initialize/after_find misfeature
Just starting a new thread so that it''s easy to follow. I just submitted a patch at trac to add a new class method called "set_default_values" ( not a great name I think ), which lets you do all kinds of crazy stuff with setting default values. This ticket is at http://dev.rubyonrails.org/ticket/9093 and example pastie is at http://pastie.caboo.se/81925 It also lets you make

problem that arises after using the new version of "BRugs"
Respected Sir, With reference to my mail to you and the reply mail by you dated 9th and 16th January, 2013, I am sending the reproducible code in the attached document named " MODIFIED ANS ". I am also attaching the txt file named "hazModel", which is required to save in my documents folder to run the program. The file also contains the error message
