''Series'' Pluralization
Howdy,
I have a model I called ''content_series''. I created it and noticed that
Rails called it ''Sery'', so I added ''series'' to the uncountable thing in
the config, like this:
Inflector.inflections do |inflect|
# inflect.plural /^(ox)$/i, ''\1en''
# inflect.singular /^(ox)en/i, ''\1''

rake db:migrate strange behaviour "wrong number of arguments (1 for 0)"
Hi everybody,
May be somebody has a clue, why I get these errors below, while trying
to migrate.
Any help is very appreciated!

I was trying to experiment a litte bit with redMine (www.redmine.org).
But I can only install it locally. On a system with already a
mongrel_cluster running, I get strange errors, already while trying to
start the migration rake db:migrate

newbie: OSX Ruby/MySQL issue?
I''m three pages into the OnLamp RoR Tutorial [1] and am wrestling
with what appears to be a MySQL connection problem.
I''ve created a simple controller called "recipe" with a corresponding
"recipes" mysql table. The recipe controller is just a simple scaffold.
When I browse to "recipe/new", though, I get these errors:

MySQL has gone away
Hi,
in a production environment we are running into "MySQL server has gone
away" errors (see below) when we call rebuild_index in aaf. This happens
sporadically.
Any suggestions for what might be wrong or workarounds? I guess we try a
reconnect before we call rebuild_index?

Memory consumption too high
Hi,
I''m having trouble with ferret and AAF blowing up with a NoMemoryError.
Sometimes when I add documents inside my rails app. Ferret starts
consuming huge amounts of memory. I''m on a machine with 2GB of memory
and it still runs out of memory. Sometimes I''m able to run
MyObject.rebuild_index and the memory doesn''t move up at all. However,
sometimes it

Ferret locks up when adding items to an index
I''m running Ferret 0.9.5 on a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.4.7) under
Locomotive 2.0.7.
I have a problem where Ferret is hanging when I try to add items to
the index. It doesn''t happen with every object that''s being indexed,
and I''m not sure what the objects in question have in common (they
are not all instances of the same ActiveRecord object). The process

Rake vs Ruby for running tests (error discrepency)
I''m having (to me) a strange problem with errors when running my tests
with rake as opposed to using ruby. If I do rake test:units I get this

[ActsAsFerret] OpenSolaris (TextDrive) indexing issues
Gents,
I successfully installed AAF on my TextDrive OpenSolaris Container, but
I''m having some issues with indexing.
I have a model called Blogs which has AAF enabled.
The first time I tried to find_by_contents for a ''word'' I know was on
the Database I got now results. Apparently the index was not ready yet.
Then I waited a few hours and checked that the /index

MySQL connection problems on Dreamhost
To all fellow Dreamhosters out there...
Sometimes my app mysteriously loses its connection to the database,
resulting in a big ugly "Application Error (Rails)" page. Usually
refreshing the page makes it go away, but not today. :-(
In production.log I see this:

Any idea why this happens? It''s rather intermittent

Issue with upgrading to 2.0 on Leopard? Or something else?
Sorry if this has been covered, but I finally decided to upgrade to
Rails 2.0 (running Leopard and previously at rails 1.2.6) so I could
start using some of the great new features. I ran the usual "sudo gem
install rails --include-dependencies" to upgrade and now my
development environment is all out of whack. I suspected MySQL, but
I''ve already made sure I was using the
