Sweave and Miktex (Sweave.sty not found)
Hi all,
I know from googling that this is a common problem; I've just tried what I
understand to be the common solutions to know avail -- maybe I'm just
confused.
I installed Miktex 2.8 -- it seems to be working fine.
I'm using this demo document: http://www.stat.berkeley.edu/~houston/demo.Rnw
I've copied the Sweave.sty file into at this point multiple places on the

basic sweave question
I am trying to learn the basics of Sweave so I read some things and a
friend gave me his Rnw file
to play with. I am able to do R CMD Sweave mark-example.Rnw. That works.
But,
then when I do latex mark-example.tex, I get the message below. I looked
in the archives
and Martin Morgan mentioned something in 2004 in terms of making sure
that latex is
looking at where Sweave.sty is but I am unsure

LaTeX/R/Sweave Problems
Dear All:
For a few days now I have struggled with recreating a stable LaTeX/R/Sweave
environment on a new Windows XP SP3 machine. Unfortunately it seems that I
ran out of good ideas and I would like your expert opinion on how I should
approach this task and be successful. In essence, I installed (several
times) in this order the following: R2.10.1 (and then R 2.9.2), Adobe

Sweave: looping over mixed R/LaTeX code
Dear guRus,
I would like to loop over a medium amount of Sweave code, including both R and LaTeX chunks. Is there any way to do so? As an illustration, can I create a .tex file like this using a loop within a .Rnw file, where the "1,2,3" comes from some iteration variable in R?

Question on Sweave-Latex and examples in the Sweave Manual
Hi List,
I have a problem with using Latex and Sweave for creating a document.
So I downloaded the Sweave manual from
http://www.statistik.lmu.de/~leisch/Sweave/Sweave-manual.pdf
and i have tried to replicate the example on pages 4-5, but i encounter the following problem: IT DOES NOT WORK. I can run Sweave, create the .tex file and then when building the .tex file in TeXnikCenter i get all

Windows problem related to using shortPathName for Sweave style file
In the process of updating R to R 2.7 alpha or R 2.7 beta for the
BioConductor 2.2 builds on Windows, I have hit a snag because the BioC
build system has long path names (e.g. D:\biocbld\bbs-2.2-bioc\R) and
these path names are not resolving properly by MiKTeX 2.7 during
vignette construction. Take, for example, the attached vignette from
Biobase, Bioconductor.Rnw. I have built R from source

Sweave - landscape figure
Dear R-users
I am trying to understand how Sweave works by running some simple examples. In the example I am working with there is a chunk where the R-commands related to plotting a figure are placed. When running R CMD Sweave ? , pdflatex the output is a portrait figure. I wonder whether it would be possible to change the orientation to landscape (not in the latex file but in Rnw file).

Newbie help with Sweave
I think I've gotten my Emacs/Sweave/R system set up correctly, thanks to
Vincent and Jim, but I haven't been successful getting my first document
produced. I'm trying to use one of Friedrich Leisch's examples,
http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~leisch/Sweave/example-1.Snw. I cut and
pasted the text into a document sweaveexample.Rnw in Emacs. It seemed to
be processed successfully with R:

Sweave error in example code
Hi.. I am running R version 2.3.1 on a Windows XP machine with the latest Miktex 2.5 installed. I get no errors from R when running the Sweave example,
testfile <- system.file("Sweave", "Sweave-test-1.Rnw", package = "utils")
However, when I tex the resulting .tex file (after installing a4.sty) I get the error below.

issues with Sweave and inclusion of graphics in a document
the problem is a little hard to explain; the .Rnw files (below)
probably do a better job, but here goes ...
Sweave doesn't like it when i size a graphical device in a code
chunk using either, e.g.:
windows(width=20, height=5)
in Windows, or, e.g.
x11(width=20, height=5)
under X, when i then plot something in said device and try to
include this graphical output in the resulting

how to use \Sexpr{} with sweave
I'm trying to learn Sweave. So far things are going well with the chunks of code identified by << >>=
But I'm having trouble with the in-line text use of \Sexpr.
Here is a short example .Rnw file:
\documentclass[12pt]{article}
\usepackage[margin=1.25in]{geometry}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{Sweave}
\begin{document}
<<test>>=
pnorm(1)

dealing with sweave.sty and pgfSweave
Hi,
I would appreciate some help with a very basic problem in using pgfSweave. That
is, dealing with the sweave.sty file. After some googling, I did the following :
(1) copied the sweave.sty file to my trial folder and (2) added the line??
\usepackage{Sweave}?? to the Rnw file. Are there more elegant ways of dealing
with this issue?
I have read something about letting Miktex know about the

Understanding the workflow between sweave, R and Latex
Let's say I have written the following tiny .Rnw file:
_________________________________________
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}
\usepackage{Sweave}
\usepackage{tikz}
\usepackage{pgf}
\begin{document}
<<>>=
sessionInfo()
@
\end{document}
_________________________________________
I then can go to R and use sweave to translate the .Rnw file into a .tex

Sweave: conflict between setwd and \SweaveOpts{prefix.string=}
Hello
I think there is a conflict between setwd() and
\SweaveOpts{prefix.string=}. In the same document, those both command
get Sweave confuse the files and directories. See:
say my .Rnw document is in File1
If one inserts some setwd() for another file:
-setwd(File2)
then the command \SweaveOpts{prefix.string=graphics/Rplots} will search
the "graphics" folder in File2 because of

Setting up Xemacs + Sweave
Dear list,
I have tried to setup my Xemacs for use with Sweave, which I indend to learn.
I have followed the instructions in the Sweave FAQ, that is to say, I put
(defun Rnw-mode ()
(require 'ess-noweb)
(noweb-mode)
(if (fboundp 'R-mode)
(setq noweb-default-code-mode 'R-mode)))
(add-to-list 'auto-mode-alist '("\\.Rnw\\'" . Rnw-mode))

I want to use Sweave, but only sometimes
Does anybody have a workable system to run an Rnw document through
R-Sweave when necessary, but to just run it through LaTeX if no new R
calculations are needed? I.e., the figures already exist, I do not
need R to do more work for me, so I send the document straight to
LaTeX.
I want to leave open the option that I might need to run the document
through Sweave in the future, so I don't want
