LaTeX, MiKTeX, LyX: A Guide for the Perplexed
Hello Everyone,   Been learning R over the past several months. Read several books and have learned a great deal about data manipulation, statistical analysis, and graphics.   Now I want to learn how to make nice looking documents and about "literate programming." My understanding is that R users normally do this using LaTeX, MiKTeX, LyX, etc. in conjuction with Sweave. An alternative

Feature Request: Multiline Comments
Hello, Is it possible to extend the R lexer/parser to include multiline comments like /* acomment */ ? This way I can integrate emacs org-mode with my R code, so that I can have a table of contents, section folding, html-output of source etc. e.g /* * Display Code */ #+BEGIN_SRC R foo <- function(...){ stuff } #+end_src and so on . Thanks Saptarshi

How to turn a LaTeX Sweave file (Rnw) into .HTML/.odf/.docx? (under windows)
Hello dear R help members, I have found several references on how to do this, my question is if anyone is actually using them - and if there are some strong points on what to use, and how well it is working out. My goal is to be able to easily create docs from R, but to be able to share it with other researchers (who do not use LaTeX) so they could easily copy/paste the tables and edit them for

uniq -c
I need an analogue of "uniq -c" for a data frame. xtabs(), although dog slow, would have footed the bill nicely: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- > x <- data.frame(a=1:32,b=1:32,c=1:32,d=1:32,e=1:32) > system.time(subset(as.data.frame(xtabs( ~. , x )), Freq != 0 )) user system elapsed 12.788 4.288 17.224 --8<---------------cut

struggling with R2wd or SWord? Try rtf!
I have been looking for a way to write R-generated reports to Microsoft Word documents. In the past, I used the package R2wd, but for some reason I haven't been able to get it to work on my current set up. R version 2.15.0 (64-bit) Windows 7 Enterprise - Service Pack 1 Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 - Word version 14.0.6123.5001 (32-bit) I gave the package

Tabular output: from R to Excel or HTML
What is the equivalent for formatted tabular output of the various very sophisticated plotting tools in R (plot, lattice, ggplot2)? In particular, I'd like to be able to produce formatted Excel spreadsheets (using color, fonts, borders, etc. -- probably via Excel XML) and formatted HTML tables (ideally through a format-independent interface), and preview them using commands within R, just as

Handouts / Reports or just simply printing text to PDF?
I assume R won't easily generate nice reports (unless one starts using Sweave and LaTeX) but perhaps somebody here knows a package that can create report like output for special cases? How can I simply plot output into PDF? Perhaps you know a package I should check out? What do you guys do to create handouts (before actually publishing)? Thanks in advance, Ralf

Save R2HTML as an object instead of file
Hi Is it possible to instead of getting the HTML code written to a file, get it saved as a string in an object instead? Or is there any kind of package that can do this? //Joel -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Save-R2HTML-as-an-object-instead-of-file-tp3066776p3066776.html Sent from the R help mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

R report generator (for Word)?
Happy New Year all! I am looking for a good solution for keeping record of my experiments - could you please help me? My work is about analysing data... My current work-flow: 1. Everyday my bosses give me some small steps/tasks for analysing data - which are parts of one bigger/whole project. 2. Everyday I send tens of emails to bosses/colleagues to report my findings in each step. 3.

Help with expression
I have a problem with expressions. I am trying to create a title where the parameter of interest is displayed as a Greek character. Which parameter is being considered is stored in a character variable. As an example, if I have param <- "alpha" and then do plot(0, 0, main = bquote(Parameter==.(param))) then in the title I get "Parameter = alpha", whereas I want the

R2HTML Report number format, or Better Way?
Here I am again with question I'll feel foolish for asking, when I see the answer. I'm trying to produce a report and here's where I get stuck: How do I get R2HTML to produce the same number format? Particularly remove the decimal places for Par and Sal. Are there better methods to produce this type of report? Thanks, L.A. R version 2.10.0 XP

odfWeave & prettyR
Hello, I've been trying to use odfWeave and prettyR packages to create documents with both text and graphs, but so far I haven't been very lucky... With the function R2html () in prettyR package, when I try to use a source file, which works perfectly if I run it directly form R using "source("file")", it works for the first part and then it makes a mess, i guess

plots and text to the same output file
Hello, I would like to save different plots and some text (like summaries, AIC, ...) on the same file. I've read the e-mails entitled "Output results to a single postscript document" written some days ago and I've tried to use the function odfInsertPlot() in the package "odfWeave" but it doesn't work on my computer (I've seen that odfWeave package depends on

odfWeave \Sexpr
Dear All, Using odfWeave is working fine for me using code chunks <<...>>= ... @ But the inline \Sexpr{date()} is not evaluated and returns again \Sexpr{date()} instead of "Thu Apr 17 18:15:47 2008". What might be the reason for that, what do I have to look for? I'm using Windows XP, R 2.6.1, odfWeave_0.7.3 and OpenOffice 2.4. Session Info: R version 2.6.1

Combinatorial problem
I have been struggling trying to write some code to produce all combinations subject to some restrictions. I thought someone might have some bright ideas. I have 11 values which fall into 5 groups. I want all combinations of 2,3, and 4 values where each value must be from a different group. The numbers in the groups are different. Here is a definition of the groups: groups <- list(gp1 =
