Overlaying a single contour from a new data array in levelplot
Dear R-Help community,
I am trying to overlay a single contour line over a correlation plot using
levelplot in the lattice package. These are the two arrays:
1) a correlation plot over Africa - so each grid square is a different colour
dependent on correlation - this is in an array: result_cor with dim[465,465]
2) a single contour line from a ***different data source*** - this is from data

Contour line coordinates
Hi all,
I used contour() to add contour lines to a plot. Now I?m wondering if there is a way to get an output of the calculated x- and y- coordinates of the contour lines?

extract coordinates from contour lines
To everyone,
Is there a way to extract coordinates or an equation from a "straight" contour line?
Thanks.

about contour - get contour coordinates - exclude area display
Dear all,
I wonder about what could actually be possible with the function "contour":
1/ - the definition of contour lines is most often meaningless when the contours are drawn in areas where no real data points exist.
It can however happen that irregular distributions lead to more or less irregular clouds of data points. Interpolations (eg: loess
regression, GLM, etc...) are however

contour() & contourLines()
Hi Folks,
I have been using contour() to produce some contour plots
(of a spatially-smooted density produced by kde2d()), with
very satisfactory results.
I now want access to the coordinates of the points on the
contours, and it would seem that contour() does not return a
value, so there is nothing from which these could be extracted.
However, apparently contourLines() does, and it seems to be

Scripting - sort of
Dear R-ians:
I'm running R2.9.2 on a 6 year old Windows XP DELL with 2 Gig RAM and a 3MHz
Pentium 4 chip.
I've written a package using the User Menus Under Windows commands
(winMenuAdd, etc). It works very well.
I have 6 test cases and running any one of them requires many selections
form the menus and some keyboard entry, and it takes me hours to exercise
them all to see

Which R version created a package?
Greetings, R-ians:
I would like to know which version or R was used to create a given package.
I think I remember seeing that topic discussed recently but cannot find it
among my notes. Can anyone tell me how to determine which version of R
created a package?
Thanks.

overlaying a contour line in a levelplot
Hello there,
I am creating a series of images using levelplot but I also want to
overlay a contour for a particular value as reference. Here is the
levelplot command for the image:
print(levelplot(d~x+y,data=t,cuts=20,scales=list(draw=F),xlab=NULL,ylab=
NULL,col.regions=heat.colors(100)[100:1]),split=c(1,1,1,1),more=T)
and then to add the contour plot (I only want a contour at level 5):

Constrained optimization
Greetings, R-Wizards:
I'm trying to find an extremum subject to a nonlinear constraint. (Yes, I
have perused the archives but have found nothing positive.) The details of
the problem are these:
In a paper published some years ago in Technometrics, ("Confidence bands for
cumulative distribution functions of continuous random variables"

pb with Date format using filled.contour
Hi R-help community,
Can anyone tell me why, while using :
x <- seq(as.Date("2001-01-01"),as.Date("2001-01-01") +
nrow(volcano)-1,1)
y <- seq(1, ncol(volcano),1)
when I plot the volcano matrix with that command :
filled.contour(x,y,volcano)
the graph has a Date format on X-axis, ok ...
... but when adding a contour plot to the filled contour, using this

smoothed contour lines
Hi all,
I'm trying to draw a contour plot
with rounded (smoothed) contour lines instead of sharp angles;
when the grid consists of only a few points
in x- and y- axis, the resulting contour
is in facts rather ugly since very sharp angles may appear.
I did not find any way to do it,
by using either "contour" or "contourplot" (from the lattice package),
I wonder if there

Distance between lines
Hello,
I'm trying to assess the similarity of two lines that are represented as points (output of differential equation solvers). Is there a function or a package that deals with things like this?
Thanks,
John.

overlaid filled contour plots
I'm trying to make a set of contour plots of bivariate kernel density
estimates, showing three such plots overlaid,
similar to this plot

except that I would like to have the contours *filled* (using
transparent colors). To make this reproducible, I've
saved the results of KernSmooth::bkde2D() in the following file:

control L to clear the Rgui screen in Windows
Greetings R-ians:
Searching the Searchable Mail Archives I discovered that ctrl L will clear
the Rgui screen, which is what I'd like to do from a print (or some similar)
statement.
Is there a mechanism to use the ctrl L clear-screen sequence in a script, or
print statement?
Thanks for your counsel.

Labelling contour lines
I am using contour to draw contour lines onto a photo (jpeg) of a leaf on
a white background.
I have two problems:
1) The contour gets plotted at right angles to the jpeg image. I guess
this is a problem of referencing the start and end points of the image
matrix but I can't see how to over come this other than loading in a
second image that has been rotated 90 degrees and plotting the

Get contour of a map
Hello everybody,
I search a function which returns the contour of map with levels like contourLines, but I would like this function return the border of the map too, because the function contourLines cannot consider the corner of the map and it is not adapted to fill polygon after that.
Thanks in advance

HOW to provide a CITATION file?
Greetings, R-ians:
I am sure I am missing something obvious.
How do I provide a CITATION file for my home-brew package, so that it will
be packaged using
R CMD build --binary myPackage?
I have placed a CITATION file in the myPackage directory along with the
DESCRIPTION file, but it is ignored.
Thanks for your guidance.

filled.contour and time axis
Dear all,
I am using filled.contour and my x-axis consists of a vector of dates,
formatted using as.POSIXct.
When I assign this vector to x in filled.contour, the x-axis in the plot is
correctly formatted as dates.
However, when I use plot.axes=axis(1) in filled.contour the x-axis is not
correctly formatted. I need to opt for the latter because I want to add
additional lines and points to the

Filled contour plot showing labeled isolines?
Is it possible to create a contour plot with the isolines labeled. I know
you can do this with Matlab. Argh!
I tried creating a filled contour plot, then using par(new=T), followed by
overlaying the contour plot on top. However, the placement of the filled
contour plot and the contour plot do not align correctly. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.
Thanks,

undesired grid in ps/eps outputs generated by filled.contour or image
Hi!
Whenever I save a graphic in ps/eps format generated by filled.contour or
image, an undesired grid is added to it (not visible on the X11 screen). For
example:
postscript("volcano.eps")
filled.contour(volcano,col=gray(seq(0,1,,50)),levels=seq(min(volcano),max(volcano),,50))
dev.off()
Any ideia how to eliminate this grid?
Thanks,
Rachel
