Repeated Measure ANOVA-Old question
Hi R users,
I google the website and I found that there are three ways to perform
repeated measure ANOVA: aov, lme and lmer.
http://www.mail-archive.com/r-help at stat.math.ethz.ch/msg58502.html
But the questions are which one is good to use and how to do post-hoc test?
I use the example that is provided in the above link and I try
> tt<-aov(p.pa~group*time+Error(subject/time),data=P.PA)

Help use try function with boot
Hi R users,
Is is possible for me to use the try function with boot? I would to do
the bootstraping with a nonlinear model(it works well when R < 1000).
But it does not work very well (when R is large) thus I try to use
"try" to resolve. I put the try function in two cases:
case1: put the try in front of the boot
> c1.try<-try(boot(c1data, statistic = c1.fun,

Hi R users
Is there anything wrong in "is" function? (R 2.7.2)
I believe that everyone will agree that "7" is an integer, right? but
why R shows 7 is not an integer

correlation with boot
Hi R users,
I have one simple question but I really don't know why I can't get it work.
The data was adopted from Efron's An introduction to the bootstrap book.

S.O.S "try" doesnot work in boot?
First thanks for Jinsong's suggestions
I would like to do a bootstrap in a nonlinear model. But it fails to
converge in most of time. (it did converge if I just use nls without
boot). Thus, I use "try" function to resolve my problem. This
following code is from Jinsong's suggestion.
h1a.nls<-nls(density~nmf(time, alpha, delta, psi, tau, gamma),data=h1a,

strange results in summary and IQR functions
Dear R users,
Something is strange in summary and IQR. Suppose, I have a data set and I
would like to find the Q1, Q2, Q3 and IQR.
x<-c(2,4,11,12,13,15,31,31,37,47)
> summary(x)

However, I test the same data set in SAS "proc univariate", and SAS shows

Something wrong with my function Please Help
Hi R users,
I try to build a function to compute odds ratio and relative risk however
something wrong. I stuck for many hours but I really don't know how to solve
it. Would someone please give me a hint?

Please Help pairwise.t.test!!
Hi R users,
My question is, If I have 3 groups, A, B, C and I know mean of A =20, B=21,
and C=20.5 and I also know the
standard error of A =1.1, B=2.2, C=3.2. Plus, I know A has 30 observations,
B has 78, C has 45. But I do not have the raw data.
Can I use pairwise.t.test to conduct a Bonferroni test? If yes, Could you
give me a hint?
Thank you so much

Loglikelihood for x factorial?
Hi Rers,
I have a silly question. I don't know how to express the loglikelihood
function of
1/(x!) where x=x1,x2,....xn in R.
Could anyone give me a hint?
Thank you in advance.

Use 2 "ifelse" to sort data
Dear R users,
I have a question how to use 2 "ifelse" to sort my data. Such as
from 11 to 20 assign to A; 6 to 10 assign to B, and the rest of them assign
to C
a<-1:20
tt<-ifelse(a>10, "A",no=ifelse( 5< a <=10, "B", "C"))
Many Thanks

Help How to use a loop to do pair comparison

I have a question. How can I use for loop to do pair comparisons. For
example,

> for(i in 1: length(x))
+ { result[i,]<-ifelse(x[i] > x[i+1], yes="Big", no="Small")

How to test significant differences for non-linear relationships for two locations
Hi List,
I have to compare a relationship between y and x for two locations. I found logistic regression fits both datasets well, but I am not sure how to test if relationships for both sites are significantly different. I searched the r site, however no answers exactly match the question.
I used Tukey's HSD to compare two means, but the relationship in my study was not simply linear. So I

Antw: Re: Confidence interval for the difference between proportions - method used in prop.test()
Dear Josh,
Thanks for your help!
Does your answer mean, that you agree the two methods should do the same, and what I was guessing, despite the small differences?
What I prefer about ci.pd is, that the help clearly says which method is implemented, which is not the case for prop.test. But I do not know who has programmed the function.
Best wishes

Confidence interval for the difference between proportions - method used in prop.test()
Hello,
Does anyone know which method from Newcombe (1998)* is implemented in prop.test for comparing two proportions?
I would guess it is the method based on the Wilson score (for single proportion), with and without continuity correction for prop.test(..., correct=FALSE) and prop.test(..., correct=TRUE). These methods would correspond to no. 10 and 11 tested in Newcombe, respectively. Can

Chattr +i and securelevel
has anyone played with the securelevel variable in the kernel and the
immutable flags in the ext2 file system?
The only way I have found to change the flag is by
patching sched.c from
int securelevel=0
to int securelevel=1
The sysctrl code seems to allow the setting of the flag
only by init (PID=1) and only upwards (0->1, etc).
The problem is that I haven''t found a way to get
init

Assistance in installing R
Greetings everyone;
I am not an R user; however, I am attempting to install R 2.7.0 on a
multi-user server for use by students and faculty in the Statistics
department here. I have an old version of R installed on the same
server, and it works fine; however, I am running into a problem
installing this new version. Is this the appropriate forum for posting
installation problems? If not,
