introducing puppetboard 0.0.1
Hello everyone, It’s a lovely grey and rainy day here in the Dutch summer, as good a day as any to release a new little project. Its name is Puppetboard and has as aim to replace Puppet Dashboard’s reporting functionality. It does not nor will it include ENC features. It does all this without storing any data itself but querying PuppetDB instead. The whole thing is built in Python and

IPC connections and utmp
Hi, I am running Samba version 2.2.5 with utmp turned on. I have a problem with utmp and not displaying who is currently logged in. The basic idea is that even though a user has logged off the computer (win2k pro) a connection to IPC$ remains. It gives this. [root@lifesaver root]# smbstatus -u scott Samba version 2.2.5 Service uid gid pid machine

When I do "mail xxxx at y.com" and send it the /var/log/maillog file shows the connection and shows the relay as [127.0.0.1]. Then it just SITS there for a long time. Then it picks up the mail and

how do I manage a Dell PE 860 server via IPMI?
Hi all I'm trying to get to grips with this one, but just can't figure it out. I recently acquired some 2nd hand Dell Poweredge 860 servers, and noticed that they have built in remote management interfaces. So, I have setup one, and assigned an IP address to it, but have no idea on how to access it remotely. Google'ing for an answer didn't bring me more than general product

Centos5 Webcam/Video input/output
We have been exploring the possibilities using Centos5 for video. Video and Audio Streaming sounds like great fun. Subject is pretty new to us here and well there was nothing else to do but take the dive. After much time beating our heads against the wall and covering the planet google'ing and hitting the books trying to get a webcam to work. I am wondering if it wouldn't be better just

I''ve written and deployed a simple Linux SSH module. But I need to modify to include support for FreeBSD and AIX. On top of that, I need to include some conditionals in there that (for example) if (/etc/file1 contains string abc) ; then install sshd-config-x & ssh-config-x elsif (/etc/file1 contains string xyz); then install sshd_config-y & ssh_config-y else install

Having trouble starting more than 8 Xen guests
All, I've spent quite a few hours trying to figure this out to no avail... I have two machines and the result is the same on both. Additionally, each machine does not support full hardware virtualization... I am able to create 8 VMs. When attempting to create ninth VM, I get the following error: Error: Device 51712 (vbd) could not be connected. /etc/xen/scripts/block failed; error

Choo choo here comes the FOSDEM train
Hi everyone, It's not exactly a secret that FOSDEM will be taking place during the first weekend of February at the usual location, the ULB Solbosch campus in Brussels. It's also not that big of a secret that a lot of Puppeteers attend especially now that we have a Configuration Management room. However, it usually is a secret who will be there and that more difficult to get in touch

CVE-2009-4355 / openssl memory leak in SSLv3 (DoS)
Yesterday most major linux distributions pushed an update to their servers with a patched version of openssl conerning CVE-2009-4355. However, I have unitl now been unable to find anything on the subject (no SA or anything on VuXML) as to how this bug affects FreeBSD and if there's a patch on its way to the upstream ports-tree. Is there anyone who has some information on the subject? --

Samba ADS domain member issues
Hi, I am having problems configuring my Centos 4 server as an ADS domain member of our 2003 AD. I've followed the instructions on samba.org and did quite a bit of Google'ing and haven't found an answer to the problems. Basically I used the configuration illustrated in this section of the howto, and of course a number of other suggestions I've found along the way:

What Do You Test
Hi everyone, We are working on enhancing our internal testing so we can improve the overall quality of Puppet releases. For example, I am one of two QA engineers assigned full-time to testing Puppet''s FOSS stack. I''m seeking your input and experience to help us identify what we''re missing and what we can improve. We have an extensive test suite, but there''s
