subset handling
Dear Rui and UseRs,[a text file has also been attached, in case the format of my email is difficult to get]I am extremely sorry that I am bothering you once again, but I?ll have to get to the bottom of it. The following command
sp <- lapply(split(agg, agg$st), function(x) x[order(x$year, x$month), ])
gave me an output with monthly mean of population(as under). i am not able to apply

Correct statistical inference for linear regression models without intercept in R
Dear R community,
is there a way to get correct t- and p-values and R squared for linear
regression models specified without an intercept?
example model:
summary(lm(y ~ 0 + x))
This gives too low p-values and too high R squared. Is there a way to
correct it? Or should I specify with intercept to get the correct values?
Thank you in advance!

Help with reshape/reshape2 needed
This does not use reshape/reshape2, but it is pretty straightforward. Assuming X is your example data:
> Y <- split(X[, 2], X[, 1])
> vals <- sapply(Y, length)
> pad <- max(vals) - vals
> Y2 <- lapply(seq_along(Y), function(x) c(Y[[x]], rep(NA, pad[x])))
> names(Y2) <- names(Y)
> X2 <- do.call(cbind, Y2)
> X2[, 1:6]

Help with reshape/reshape2 needed
The reason it doesn't work easily with reshape/reshape2 is that the
order of the rows is not determined. Your answer could be
1957 1958 ... 1985 1986
0.8625000 0.7500000 ... 0.7307692 0.23750000
0.0733945 0.6435644 ... NA 0.05769231
0.5096154 NA ... NA 0.65137615
or
1957 1958 ... 1985 1986
0.0733945 0.6435644 ... NA

Subsetting year range
Hi,
I have a panel data set that I am trying to subset. I am trying to keep
values for years >=1960.
The full set is from 1940 to 2000.
I tried a few things, but none worked. Here are a couple that I am trying to
use.
TableAPS1 <- subset(TableAP, year => 1959)
TableAPS1 <- TableAP[ which(year > 1959),]
It would be really nice if someone can point out what I am doing wrong

how to extract data by specific months from a monthly ts object

I am trying to extract data from a ts object by month, e.g., extract Jan,
Feb, and Aug data from a monthly ts object. I tried the following but it
didn't work:

I have a complex line by xy-values (ordered by z).
And I would like to get interpolated y-values on the positions of x = 0:600.
How do I get the correct points?

problem with data
Hello all!
I have a problem with my data in R. When I want to plot the following data,
I have a problem with y scale. The maximum value is cc. 10 degrees and in R
is about 100.
I use this code:
fasy<-read.table("gridd1.txt",sep="\t",dec=",",header=T,row.names=1)
# here are the years:
x <- as.numeric(rownames(fasy))
# extract a series that you want to plot:

publication statistics from Web of Science
Dear list,
This is a bit of an off-topic question, but I'm hoping to get some
advice from more experienced people. I've used the website "Web of
Science" to manually collect publication counts responding to several
keywords as a function of date, since the 1960s.
