definir tipo de variable
Buenos días
¿Podríais explicarme cómo defino en R el tipo de variable y las etiquetas de la misma y las etiquetas de valor?.
En SPSS utilizo la siguiente sintaxis:

VARIABLE LEVEL DB040(NOMINAL).
VARIABLE LEVEL DB090(SCALE).
VARIABLE LABELS DB010 'AÑO'.
VARIABLE LABELS DB020 'PAÍS'.

Major difference in the outcome between SPSS and R statistical programs
Dear collegues,
I have used R statistical program, package 'lmer', several times
already.
I never encountered major differences in the outcome between SPSS and R.
...untill my last analyses.
Would some know were the huge differences come from.
Thanks in advance, Ronald
In SPSS the Pearson correlation between variable 1 and variable 2 is 31%
p<0.001.

I am trying to fit a copula to some data in R and I get the error mentioned

Now another question regarding the Foreign package
Hi,
Because I'm new to R and trying to move off of SPSS, I have another question. I downloaded the "Foreign" package which I understand reads in various datasets from programs such as SPSS and SAS. There isn't much documentation that I can find regarding the specifics of this in the online docs, but I assume that it is like read.table. So, here is what I wrote and here is

Datasets for "The Statistical Sleuth"
Hi everyone,
I wonder if there already exists any R packages containing all the
data sets for the book "The Statistical Sleuth"
(http://www.proaxis.com/~panorama/home.htm; also available at StatLib
http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/datasets/sleuth).
I'm writing an R package with a friend for one of our stat courses
where SAS is the main tool being used. As the time is limited and half

Statistical Software Comparison
Hi R users:
I want to know if any of you had used
Stata or Statgraphics.
What are the advantages and disadvantages with
respect to R on the following aspects?
1. Statistical functions or options for advanced
experimental design (fractional, mixed models,
greco-latin squares, split-plot, etc).
2. Bayesian approach to experimental design.
3. Experimental design planing options.

Hierarchical data sets: which software to use?
Dear R-helpers,
I’m writing for advice on whether I should use R or a different package or
language. I’ve looked through the R-help archives, some manuals, and some
other sites as well, and I haven’t done too well finding relevant info,
hence my question here.
I’m working with hierarchical data (in SPSS lingo). That is, for each case
(person) I read in three types of (medical) record:

Useful books for learning the R software and the S programming language
any useful books for learning the R statistical software?
are they pricey?
and if the books recommended focus on S, how compatible will they be for
someone learning R?
thank you in advance for your help.

rcspline.plot query
Dear all,
As I am new to the R community - although eager to advance- I would
like to pose a question to the community.
I have an SPSS file which I have imported it in R (with the read.spss
command) which conists of scale (continuous) variable "adiponectin" and
the corresponding categorical value "death" (0=No, 1=Yes). In all there
are 60 observations (among which

How to deploy statistical models built in R in real-time?
I am framing this as a question since I would like to know how folks
are currently deploying the models they build in R. Say, you want to
use the results of your model inside another application in real-time
or on-demand, how do you do it? How do you use the decisions you get
back from your models?
As you may know, a PMML package is available for R that allows for
many mining model to

Resampling Stats software
Hi,
I am new to R (I have most of my experience in SAS and SPSS). I was
wondering if anyone has used both Resampling Stats and R, and could comment
on strengths/relationships. Also, I have no clue on how to do the various
examples from the book "Resampling: The New Statistics" in R. Can anyone
give me some possible starting points? Or websites/books?
Thanks,

R en Medicina
Hola, saludos desde México. Me estoy iniciando en el uso de R, que me
parece un muy buen programa. Yo doy la clase de bioestadística en la
facultad de Medicina de Mérida, Yucatán en México. Me gustaría hacer
contacto con personas que estén usando R en el área biomédica,
especialmente en docencia, para compartir experiencias, dudas, ejemplos,
etc.

"R is not a validated software package.."
Dear All,
discussing with a statistician of a pharmaceutical company I received
this answer about the statistical package that I have planned to use:
As R is not a validated software package, we would like to ask if it
would rather be possible for you to use SAS, SPSS or another approved
statistical software system.
Could someone suggest me a 'polite' answer?
TIA

SPSS Statistics-R Integration Plug-In
Dear All,
Has anyone tried to use this plug-in? Since I am running R-2.9.1 it will not even let me install it. Further, since I am running Windows I cannot use the R provided R-2.7.0 Linux installation file from the archive (tried to install it through cygwin and it was a mess). Suggestions? Ideas? Has anybody used this plug-in?
