Remove specific rows in a matrix/data.frame
Hi,
imagine the following matrix/data.frame
Letter Number
a 1
a 1
b 1
b 0
c 0
c 1
d 0
d 0
If the numbers for two identical letters are also identical then I want to
remove either the first or the
second row of that letter. If for a letter the numbers are 1 and 0 I want to
remove the row with the 0.
That means if the code works I would and up with the following

problem with sqlSave()
Dear R users,
I've already asked this question yesterday, but, though I had answer for
the other ones (and they helped a lot, thanks), for some reason didn't
get an answer for this one (I would also appreciate to know why, so that
I can improve the quality and clarity of my future questions).
Here it is again:
I'm trying to use RODBC to export dataframes to xls files.

Converting matrix data to a list
Hi, I've looked through the posts but couldn't find a solution to this. I'd be
really grateful if someone could help,
I'd like to convert a data file of mutual information that is formatted as
a matrix:
TF1 TF2 TF3 TF200...
Gene1 0.0 0.2 0.2
Gene2 1.4 0.0 2.8
Gene3 0.3 0.6 1.7
Gene6000....
To a list:

Arrange elements on a matrix according to rowSums + short 'apply' Q
Greetings,
My goal is to create a Markov transition matrix (probability of moving from
one state to another) with the 'highest traffic' portion of the matrix
occupying the top-left section. Consider the following sample:
inputData <- c(
c(5, 3, 1, 6, 7),
c(9, 7, 3, 10, 11),
c(1, 2, 3, 4, 5),
c(2, 4, 6, 8, 10),
c(9, 5, 2, 1, 1)
)
MAT <- matrix(inputData,

deleting the first two characters in each row of a factorized column
Hello,
I'd like to ask you something again.
I have a database and it has a column which looks like this one here:
small_factor <- factor(c("d_variable1","d_variable2","d_variable3"))
small_factor
Now the thing is that I would like to convert each element of this factorized column. Basically I want to rewrite the words in it without the first two characters:

problems subsetting
Dear all,
I have searched the forums for an answer - and there is plenty of
questions along the same line - but none of the paproaches shown worked
to my problem:
I have a data frame that I get from a csv:
summarystats<-as.data.frame(read.csv(file=f_summary));
where I have the columns Dataset, Class, Type, Category,..

accessing a data frame with row names
Readers,
I have entered a file into r:
,column1,column2
row1,0.1,0.2
row2,0.3,0.4
using the command:
dataframe<-read.table("/path/to/file.csv",header=T,row.names=1)
When I try the command:
dataframe[,2]
I receive the response:
NULL
I was expecting:
row1 0.2
row2 0.4
What is my error with the syntax please?
Yours,

save in for loop
Dear users,
My problem concerns save() within a for loop.
Here is my code:
for (i in 1:4) {
temp <- data.frame(a=(i+1):(i+10), b=LETTERS[(i+1):(i+10)])
filename <- paste("file", i, sep="")
assign(filename, temp)
save(filename, file=paste(filename, ".rda", sep=""))
}
As you can see, save() doesn't work as I would like: (1) the object

number of items to replace is not a multiple of replacement length
Hey all,
I am writing a function in which I will have a matrix of 4 columns and a
variable amount of rows.
The first to columns will always contain be of the Character type, the third
and fourth columns
can be a variation of data types, usually characters and integers, but
sometimes lists or matrices.
At one point the code makes, for each row, a copy of that row, then it makes
some adjustments

I have checked all the par() arguments but couldn't find what I'm

RODBC to import/export xls files
Dear R users,
I've learned today about RODBC package in order to import xls file to
dataframes and export the dataframes to xls files.
However I have some problems. Please excuse me if these are basic but as
I said, I've just begun with this package.
Also this email is quite long, but everything is related, so I don't
think it would be better to split it. Moreover, there's a

Str info. Thanks for helping
It looks from str(SA) that Response IPS1 is a data.frame of class "anova", which probably cannot be coerced to vector.
Maybe you can use unlist() instead of as.vector()
Or something like
SA[["Response IPS1"]]["as.factor(WSD)",] ## to select the first row only, even maybe with unlist()
Without a better REPRODUCIBLE example, I cannot tell more (maybe some others

Dear users,
I have looked on different sources and found different functions to
prompt the user to provide input. However, I couldn't find one that does
exactly what I'm looking for.
select.list() and menu() are nice because a graphic window appears to
prompt the user. However, the user can only choose from a predefined
list of choices. readline() and scan() are more free in the
