Problem with invoking R from the command line (Windows Vista)
Dear all
I am running in a problem when trying to run R from Windows command line.
I am runnning Windows Vista, R-2.10.1.
I have a script I would like to run remotely from another program. As it did
not work, I thought I would test the script from the Windows command line
which highlighted a problem.
When I open the command line and type R at the prompt (or any other variant

Rcmd not working on Windows
I changed the path to include C:\Program Files\R\R-2.3.1\bin, but Rcmd check
[package] just returns an error:
'Rcmd' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable
program or batch file.
Any ideas? I want to be able to compile this package on Windows.

calling R from within Java, using jri
Hi,
I want to call R from within Java, using jri as per
http://www.rosuda.org/software/jri/
So I am following the instructions in the README file for JRI 0.2-4.
I have run 'sh configure.win' and 'make' and they seemed to be
successful.
(See below for the output from make, for example.)
But when I try 'run.bat rtest' (with and without R command line
arguments)

Summary of using R from within Perl
Many thanks to Duncan Lang and Patrick Connolly for their very helpful
suggestions.
I used ldd to look up R.so and was told that libR.so was not found.
After I changed LD_LIBRARY_PATH, it worked!

R sometimes dies from within Perl
Hi Guys
This is a combined Perl/R question, hopefully there are enough people out there who use both to help me. I am using the latest versions of both on a SUSE Linux 8.2 machine.
I am wrapping up R in some very simple perl scripts. My problem is that when I run a series of commands from within R, with a certain data set, one of the commands reports an error but the R process remains active.

"sh" is not recognised as an internal or external comman d, operable program or batch file
That looks like the symptom of not following the documentation when trying
to build packages on Windows. (You have not stated the platform.) In that
case please check and see if you have the tools in Rtools.zip installed and
on the PATH.

AGI perl script set timeout within script?
Hi All,
I'm running an AGI, calling a perl script the does number lookups to a
remote server. I would like to put a timeout in the script. The
problem I'm running into is if the DNS server is not responding, the
script hangs and waits for 30 seconds before returning to the Asterisk
dialplan. I would like a timeout of 1 second, then return.
Here is my clean script:

the directory to where your package is, type the command ?R CMD build

afterward.
Here are the relevant statements in the BAT

(PR#11484) On WinXP, R CMD config needs sh (and breaks without it)

Then "R CMD config --help" could at least spit out an error stating
what should be installed
(rather than die with an execution error straight from the DOS).
Setting an "sh" in the %Path% (sh coming from cygwin) does not seem to
lead to something working
