build issues on Solaris (PR#13975)
Full_Name: Rodney Sparapani Version: 2.9.2 OS: Solaris 10 Submission from: (NULL) (141.106.121.40) There are a few issues with building on Solaris (and UNIX in general, I suppose). 1. on line 50686 of configure, I'm seeing some trouble: lib=`echo ${lib}|sed -e s:${JAVA_HOME}:\$\{JAVA_HOME\}:g` Evidently, $lib contains colons which will confuse sed, so you can work around this like:

beamer overlays with Sweave?
This may be asking too much, but I'm wondering if anyone has a solution (even a hack) for creating multiple (overlay) plots in an Sweave file and post-processing the overlays in beamer appropriately. For example, suppose I have a series of figure blocks in my .Rnw file: <<plot1,fig=TRUE>>= [stuff] @ <<plot2,fig=TRUE>>= [stuff] @ <<plot3,fig=TRUE>>=

Sweave: pass scale parameter to includegraphics?
Hi all I'm using Sweave and find it a treat. But one question: I use Sweave to create my pictures which are automatically included into LaTeX. For example, in the file test.Snw, I may have: % LaTeX stuff \begin{figure} <<fig=true,width=5,height=5>>= x1 <- seq(1,5, length=10) x2 <- sin(x1) plot(x1,x2) @ \caption{Plot} \end{figure} % More LaTeX This produces the LaTeX

Figure environment and includegraphics options from Sweave
Tha handy thinb about the fig=TRUE option in Sweave is that you do not have to bother about filenames and starting and stpping the device. I want the the resulting LaTeX to look as: \begin{Schunk} \begin{Sinput} > x <- seq(-2 * pi, 2 * pi, 0.1) > plot(x, cos(x), type = "l", lwd = 4) \end{Sinput} \end{Schunk} \begin{figure} \includegraphics[width=0.6\textwidth]{xx-001}

EPS->LaTeX problem
Greetings- I have a strange problem displaying a graph from R (1.3.1, linux) in a LaTeX document of documentclass seminar. I'm using graphicx to include the file: \usepackage{graphicx} ... \resizebox{\textwidth}{\textheight}{\includegraphics{crime.eps}} When I do this, the entire slide (including the page number) is rotated 180 degrees. Any ideas why this happens? The graph was created

R + LaTeX formula
Hi, what is actually the best method to include R-plots into LaTeX documents? At the moment i use postscript("myplot.eps", width = 12.0, height = 9.0, horizontal = FALSE, onefile = TRUE, paper = "special",encoding = "TeXtext.enc") plot(foo,bar) dev.off() But it is a bit unhandy to scale later and its difficult to get nice formula in the plots. And how should

Sweave - landscape figure
Dear R-users I am trying to understand how Sweave works by running some simple examples. In the example I am working with there is a chunk where the R-commands related to plotting a figure are placed. When running R CMD Sweave ? , pdflatex the output is a portrait figure. I wonder whether it would be possible to change the orientation to landscape (not in the latex file but in Rnw file). Many

Difficulties in interaction between R and latex (prosper)
Hello, folks! I'm trying to use R as a graphics program, to make some pretty graphs that will go into prosper slideshows. I wrote this fragment, from the R manual, into a file demo.R: x=seq(-3,3,0.1) postscript("cm_test.eps", width = 4.0, height = 3.0, horizontal = FALSE, onefile = FALSE, paper = "special", family =

Page width figures in Latex
bRotheRs & sisteRs, I am once again attempting to learn enough Latex voodoo to get something done, and failing comically. The document "RJAuthorguide.pdf" mentions that one can get page width figures through the use of the "figure*" or "table* environments, but despite considerable searching through the mail archives and reading Frank Harrell's discussion of

How to document man/*.Rd pages with images?
Hi, I?m trying to figure out how to put images into my package?s help documentation. I?ve gotten to the point where I can put the images in the /inst/doc/ directory. I have also gotten to the point where I have package checks without any warnings. I couldn?t find the terms ?picture,? ?image,? or ?graphic? in a text search within the Writing R Extensions: 2 Writing R documentation files

Formatting Sweave in R-News
Hi, I am editing a document for submission to the R-news newsletter, and in my article my Sweave code inserts a dynamically generated PDF report that my R program generates. However, when I insert the PDF using the following Sweave code: \newpage \includegraphics[scale=1.0]{\Sexpr{print(location)}} \newpage (in tex this looks like): \newpage \includegraphics[scale=1.0]{/home/arjun/sample.pdf}

.ps files in R
I have recently "printed" in R to a postscript file. I'm working on a SSH without an X terminal. It was fairly automatic: > plot(x,y) > dev.off() And then the default creates a file called Rplots.ps which I can ftp to my laptop and open in Ghostscript. I can see the file, and nothing looks odd. However, when I import it into LaTeX, it refuses to configure right side up.

Need Help: User Defined R Functions in Sweave/Latex
Dear all, I want to start my post by expressing my sincere gratitude for all the help this group has given me in Sweave/Latex/R. The tools are excellent and so is the community! On to the question. My Sweave code is intended to make lots of plots and create a *.pdf document. Sweave is perfect for this. The only problem is that I find myself using the same R code, within my Sweave input file

Questions on Inserting R graphs in latex!
Hi, I try to insert R graphs into a latex file and I am using a Texniccenter/MikTex combination in my Windows XP. Here are the errors I got. Could someone give me some clues? Sweave, lty = 3 line incorect in pdf output
I'm having a problem with dotted lines (lty = 3) in the pdf output in documents generated with Sweave. In the displayed pdf, the dotted line does not show up and in the printed output, it is there but does not seem to respect the lwd argument, for example, it is very faint despite using lwd = 3. The dotted line is correct in a quartz window and if I save the Quartz window to a pdf and
