Newb Question : How do I load the Rsymphony Library, and How do I get Symphony Running on my windows Vista?
Hi, I'm new to R, and at this phase, I don't really even know how to learn
how to use R.
I want to use R and Symphony together. CAn I use Symphony on a windows
based machine? I downloaded
Symphony 5.2.0, and when I hit to install it, I'm getting an error that I
can't get past. "Bad end of central directory record"

RSymphony appcrash
Hi list,
Please tell me why sometimes RSymphony.dll crashes on
Windows 7 (may be on other Windows too).
I saw that it depends on

Diferencias entre la version de 32 y 64 bits
Buenos días,
He hecho un desarrollo en mi máquina (de 64 bits) y funciona
correctamente. Se trata de un problema de programación lineal (usando
lpSolve y lpSolveAPI). El problema viene al ejecutar un caso concreto
que en la máquina del usuario (de 32 bits) nos da que no hay solución
factible para ese problema, pero en mi máquina de 64 sí que nos

asking advice for Integer Programming packages
Dear everyone,
I don't know much about Integer Programming but am afraid I am facing
a problem that can only be solved via Integer Programming. I was
wondering if those of you who have experience with it could recommend
an R package.
I found the following R packages:
Rglpk
glpk
lpSolve
lpSolveAPI
Are there any others?
Are some of them easier to use than others for a beginner?

strange bug? with R CMD check
Hello,
I am trying to get a package to pass R CMD check on an iMac running
Mac OS X. When the package is named safeBinaryRegression I get the
following warning from R CMD check:

dependencies ... WARNING

RSpython Ubuntu
Dear List,
I'd like to call pyhton function from within R. I tried installing the latest
version of RSPython:
wget http://www.omegahat.org/RSPython/RSPython_0.7-1.tar.gz
R CMD INSTALL --clean RSPython_0.7-1.tar.gz
I get a compile error (posted below).
Did anyone else run against this ? Is there a solution ?

lapply() reccursively
Hi all,
I was wondering whether it is possible to use the lapply() function
to alter the value of the input, something in the spirit of :
a1<-runif(100)
a2<-function(i){
a1[i]<-a1[i-1]*a1[i];a1[i]
}
a3<-lapply(2:100,a2)
Something akin to a for() loop, but using the lapply() infrastructure.
I haven't been able to get rapply() to do this.

lpSolveAPI optimizer treating some of the constraints as soft constraint
Hello Folks,
I am trying to do linear optimization using linear constraints on the
decision variables. The problem is it is treating some of the constraints as
soft constraints(violating couple of constraints condition), instead of
throwing infeasible solution. Is there an option in lpsolveapi package where
I can say don't give me solution if any of the constraints is violated.

problems compiling packages | 3.3.0 | Linux

I'm seeing another similar build failure with the recent 3.3.0-5 and I'm a
bit stumped about what's going on.
On a fresh VM, after installing 3.3.0-5 and then running:

Hello
The excellent adapt package integrates over multi-dimensional
hypercubes.
I want to integrate over a multidimensional simplex. Has anyone
implemented such a thing in R?
I can transform an n-simplex to a hyperrectangle
but the Jacobian is a rapidly-varying (and very lopsided)
function and this is making adapt() slow.

I'm exploring the simplex algorithm with a simple transportation problem
of the form:
minimize:
8a + 6b + 10c + 9d + 5e + 7f
subject to the constraints:
a + b + c = 11

Simplex Density Plots
Hello,
I have just started using R, and have found it quite easy to make
plots of probability densities for normal and beta distributions, etc.
Now, I'm looking at trying to make a simplex plot of a Dirichlet
density, but have gotten stuck and was hoping that someone could help.
Ideally, the plot would look something like the 3d plots on Wikipedia here:

Simplex function in R
I have a set of linear equations and would like to find any feasible solution. A simplex solution works in Case 1 below, but not in Case 2. I would be grateful for any help.
Case 1: Find any feasible solution for the set of linear equations:
a + b + c = 5
a + b + 0c = 4
0a + b + c = 4
Solution - a feasible (and unique) solution is a=1, b=3, c=1.
