acts_as_list with 2 fields in the scope
Hi Railers,
I''ve got a Categories table.
I want it to act as a list within the scope of the parent_id AND the
site_id.
Categories table :
id
label
site_id
parent_id
So, in my Category class, I have :
acts_as_list :scope => ''site_id = #{site_id} AND parent_id = #
{parent_id}''
The problem is that when I try to move_up a Category with a parent_id

validates_presence_of
I am just going through the book and I come across a problem with the
code in the app/models:
validates_format_of :image_url,
:with => %r{^http:.+\.(gif|jpg|png)$}i,
:message => "must be a URL for a GIF, JPG, or PNG image"
It seems to moan when it''s empty even though I removed :image_url from
validates_presence_of. How should I make it optional?

Rails urls & the AWD book
Greetings!
I''m having a hard time understanding the way Rails handles urls. I''m specifically having real trouble with the image_urls in the Depot app in the Agile Web Development book.
If I enter "\image\file.png" in the Add Product page, the image is displayed in the other views and Properties shows http://localhost:3000/images/file.png
If I leave off the leading

Agile Web Development p.89
I''ve been following along just fine with the depot app, up until I make
the catalog, where, when the price is displayed with formatting, the
price shows up underneath the <div> bar for the next item in the
catalog.
If, in index.rhtml, I change the <span class="price"> to just <span>, or
equivalently, remove the entire <span...> tag, it works just

DRY validates_format_of?
In a model I have following validates_format_of. Is there an easy way to
DRY this up? It seems to be rather repetitive.

validates_format_of :activation_date, :with =>

After being told of a funky date validator I will ask again for another

the correct syntax for an IP Address?
Thanks
