Indexing column of a matrix with infix $
I'm using 1.9.0 on Windoze 2k and I created a numeric matrix and used colnames() to give it some column names, but if I try to select a column using matrixname$validname I get a null return but if I use matrixname[,4] it works fine. Looking at the help I think this is because a matrix is not a recursive structure and I think it's saying I shouldn't be surprised nor attempt this.

Avoiding a Loop?
Dear R-Helpers, I have a matrix where the first column is known. The second column is the result of multiplying this first column with a constant "const". The third column is the result of multiplying the second column with "const"..... So far, I did it like this (as a simplified example): nr.of.columns <- 4 myconstant <- 27.5 mymatrix <- matrix(numeric(0), nrow=5,

question for loop on matrix row level.
For the 1000 simulations, a matrix will be generated each time. And, I need to choose the first row of the generated matrix. The following loop doesn't work though: for (i in 1:1000) { aval[i]<- matrixname[1,] } Any solution? thanks!

print-show-display a matrix
Hello. I want to print the value a matrix has. The matrix's size is not too big (100*100 cells). I tried print(matrixname) but as it does not fit very well on my screen R splits it into several small matrixes that do overflow my screen. IS it possible somehow to display this matrix as one (even if this needs to go fullscreen) . There might be some function for that like plot cells or

storing text and decimal values in a matrix form
Hi, I would like to store some text and decimal values in the following form: name dec.val dec.val ... dec.val name dec.val dec.val ... dec.val ... name dec. val dec.val ... dec.val To do so, I created a matrix of the necessary size (x row per y cols) with the command matrixname <- matrix(0,x,y) and proceeded to fill in the matrix with information drawn from a data frame. The

How to sum only a few elements in a line
Hello, I have a matrix with the numbers 0,1 and 9 I would like to write a function that could sum each line skiping everytime a number 9 appears for example [0 1 0 1 1 9 1] the sum would be 4. However I cannot replace 9 by 0 otherwise after the sum is done I wouldn?t be able to distiguish which ones were real zeros and which ones were nines replaced by zero just to sum. Thank you very much --

[LLVMdev] Fetching the functions in C files
Thanks Markus. Having llvm-as to turn the extracted function.bc file to .ll caused an error saying: *llvm-as-3.4: function_bc:1:1: error: expected top-level entity* *BC! #AI29bEBB2I (some more binary)* This error is just the same error that I received while using llvm-extract on a .c file (not .bc or .ll). Do I have to include other things in the command ? I mean generating a function.ll

Sorting a matrix on two columns
Hello, If a matrix with 5 columns has been defined and the first two columns need to be sorted in ascending order, how can this be achieved whilst ensuring the other 3 columns data are in relative position to the sorted columns? Glen Jones [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Selecting out certain values from a MATRIX
I have two objects, one matrix and one vector. I want to use my vector to subset certain values out of my matrix. For example: I want to tell R, to select out all rows in myMatrix into a new myMatrix2 IF that corresponding row is less than a 0.5 in myVector. So: myMatrix = a matrix of 8000 by 20 myVector = vector of 8000 myMatrix2 = a matrix of < 8000 by 20 (based on selection criteria in

[LLVMdev] Compile code for arm
OK. Thanks for your help. My problem is I am playing with the size of registerfile in ARM. I thought I can do it with only modifying the Target in the LLVM directory. But if it is going to use gcc-toolchain, then I need to modify them as well which is a huge work! Best Regards, A. Yazdanbakhsh

[LLVMdev] Fetching the functions in C files
Thanks for the answer John. I checked the llvm-extract and it works, but my concern is if the output of the extract could be saved as .ll instead of .bc. Sort of human-readable format so that I can parse it. Otherwise, it is better to parse the foo.ll file right away instead of using the extract tool. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks, -Amir On Tue, Oct 21, 2014 at 7:02 PM, John

[LLVMdev] Compile code for arm
Ok, These are the three options you should be playing with: -ccc-host-triple $(CCC_HOST_TRIPLE_ARM) \ --sysroot=$(SYSROOT_ARM) \ -gcc-toolchain $(GCC_TOOLCHAIN) Where the (sic) host triple defines the "target" triple too. Sysroot and gcc-toolchain is where you'll find the libraries and binutils for the ARM targets (you'll need them, since LLVM still can't cross-compile on

processing a large matrix
I would like to compare every column in my matrix with every other column and get the r-squared. I tried using the following formula and looping through every column: > summary(lm(matrix[,x]~matrix[,y]))$r.squared If I have 10,000 columns, the loops (10,000 * 10,000) take forever even if there is no formula inside. Then, I attempted to vectorize my code: > cor(matrix)^2 With 10,000
