p value for joint probability
Dear all,
Given
rr<-data.frame(r1<-rnorm(1000,10,5),r2<-rnorm(1000,220,5))
How can I add a column (rr$p) for the joint probability of each r1 & r2 pair?
I know how to add the column.. I just dont know how to compute the p value for joint probabilities given the two samples.

AW: R function help arranged in categorical order ?
There is a very nice Search Engine, with Keywords arranged by topic, that
comes with R.
If you are under Windows (and have Html help installed), you can find this
in the Help menu, under "Html help".
(The relevant file can also be found as
...\doc\html\search\SearchEngine.html.)
Maybe this helps,
Heinrich.

R function help arranged in categorical order ?
Hi,
I'm new to R and I'm finding it quite a chore trawling through the R
documentation to find a function to carry out simple atomic tasks. Is any
one aware of R help documentation that is aranged in functional categories
for e.g.:
String manipulation
File I/O
Dataframe, List manipulation
etc, etc ...
Thanks

[LLVMdev] fields in structure re-arranged for alignment?
Hi Folks,
Bear with me, I'm a newbie to LLVM.
I've read the language reference and the mailing list archive. One area of
the semantics of the Structure type that hasn't been discussed is whether
fields in the structure get re-arranged to better suit the target machine's
natural alignment, ala what happens in C.
For example would this structure on a 32-bit machine:

how to construct bivariate joint cumulative pdf from bivariate joint pdf
Hello,
I am using sm.density() to find the bivariate joint PDFof events:
For eg,
x<-cbind(rnorm(30),rnorm(30))
den<-sm.density(x)
Then I get the joint pdf from den$estimate in order to constructthe
joint cumulative PDF.
However, summing up all the values from den$estimateisnot equal to
1(have multipliedby the grid size).
Anyone could help?
Thanks.

calculating joint entropy of many variables
Hello list.
I need help (e.g., a reference, code, package, etc.) in calculating the
joint entropy of many variables (some sure highly mutually-informative and
some not).
Is there anyone here who knows a computationally-efficient solution (such
as an R package)? I appreciate you help ...
Best, Reza

SOLVED Can't joint domain per LDAP slave servers
Strange.
Both systems are Linux.
I compiled the LDAP slave Samba with CFLAGS="-O2 -march=i686" and SuSE's GCC
3.3.1.
The fine working master got the same CFLAGS but SuSE's GCC 2.95.3.
Without CFLAGS the GCC 3.3.1 works fine too.
Didn't know that optimization (and GCC>3) is that dangerous....
Thanks anyway

SMACOF joint configuration plot with bread data?
Dear R-helpers,
I have dist class objects for 10 individuals rating the
dissimilarities (on a 100-point scale) of the same 10 faces (analogous
to the bread data). I would like to get an individual differences
scaling jointly for the individual judges and the faces, and plot them
on the same axes.
This is the example:

optimize a joint lieklihood with mle2
Hi
I'm trying to maximize a joint likelihood of 2 likelihoods (Likelihood 1 and
Likelihood 2) in mle2, where the parameters I estimate in Likelihood 2 go
into the likelihood 1. In Likelihood 1 I estimate the vector logN with
length 37, and for the Likelihood 2 I measure a vector s of length 8.
The values of s in Lieklihood 2 are used in the Likelihood 1.
I have 2 questions:

Joint maximum likelihood estimation for ordinal data
Dear R users
>From what I understand, the joint maximum likelihood procedure for Rasch
(availabe in the package MiscPsycho) in R can only be used on binary data.
I was wondering if the code is currently being adapted for application to
ordinal data? I'm trying to replicate results obtained from Winsteps in R.
Best wishes
