teaching R
Hello all, I am going to be running a small statistics workshop using R sometime in November. I am restricted to R because of the specific libraries I will be using - a good thing in my book - however the attendees are unfamiliar with R. I plan on giving as little R information as possible - just what is absolute necessary to run the statistics (the workshop is short, no time to spend hours

question about dataframe ("sensory") in PLS package
Dear all, I am trying to my dataframe for the PLS analysis using the PLS package. However I have some trouble generating the correct dataframe. The main problem is how to use one name to represent several columns in the dataframe. The example dataframe in PLS package is called "sensory". I cannot directly read the data file since it's a binary file. If I use

loadings matrices in plsr vs pcr in pls pacakage
Dear list, I have a question concerning the above mentioned methods in the pls package with respect to the loadings matrix produced by the call. In some work I am doing I have found that the values produced are nearly of the same magnitude but of opposite sign. When I use the example data (sensory) I find this result reproduced. I am prepared to work this through but I have a feeling that

ocfs2 with cman luster stack
hello, i opened a bug on the ocfs2 bugzilla reporting difficulty i have utilize a different cluster stack than o2cb. link: http://oss.oracle.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1325 to summarize i'd like to use ocfs2 on an ubuntu server with drbd and ctdb. ctdb requires fcntl locks for its lock files. however o2cb doesn't provide that functionality whereas cman (redhat's cluster manager

Help on drawing stars and radars in R (update)
Hi I don't know if you can help. I am a 2nd year Bsc Cosmetic Science student and in R I need some help in drawing stars. The problem that I have is I want to recreate a radar diagram similar to the one in excel. I have put in these commands in a script window: stars(shampoo1[, 1:6], locations = c(0,0), radius = TRUE, key.loc=c(0,0), main = "Ranked Results for the Sensory

MFA variables graph, filtered by separate.analyses
Hi! Apologies if this is not the correct place to ask. I am attempting a MFA analysis of a dataset based on wine chemical and sensory analysis, based on the STHDA tutorial [1]. (I am using this dataset here too, as an example dataset to work on without posting my actual data. I've tried this with both my data and the example data, with the exact same results.) The only issue I am having is

COX PH models for event histories?
This is a question about the use of the Cox proportional hazards model to analyze event histories. I am looking at the responses of sympathetic nervous system activity to a stimulus. The activity I observe is a burst that can only occur once per heart beat cycle (e.g., a binary count). Typically bursts occur in 60-80% of the heart cycles * sensory stimuli can modify these burst probabilities.

ubuntu, ocfs2 with cman and ctdb
hi guys, we're evaluating the available clustering options to get ctdb up and running for a highly available file server. we've set up both gluster and ocfs2 both on seperate 2 node setups. ocfs2 seems to provide better throughput and iops to samba clients than does gluster and that is comparing a single node server to a ctdb clustered 2 node server. problem with ocfs2 is that i've

comparing and combing files
Hello, I have two tab-delimited files which I would like to combine. In the first one I have gene IDs (Unique) on column 1 and than various experimental results from microarray analysis (see attached files list1 ) the second arrays have the same genes IDs (more and in a different order, some are double) (see attached files list2 ) What I would like to do is to search in the second list for gene

Samba4 and NVSv4
Short story: cannot get Kerberized NFSv4 to work. I've googled a great deal and cannot find where I have goofed (and there sure is a lot of misleading and just plain incorrect information out there), so would appreciate another pair of eyes. NFSv4 without Kerberos does work fine, as does ID mapping. We're using NFSv4 in production with sec=sys, but I'm not happy with that. My

Maybe I will demote DC2 and join it again. > Check if you actually have dns

Strange DNS results
Samba 4.0.0, CentOS 6.4, bind 9.9 DLZ. I could use some help debugging a strange DNS issue. I have two Samba4 domain controllers, dc-1.europa.icse.cornell.edu and dc-2.europa.icse.cornell.edu. On either dc-1 or dc-2 or any client host: # host dc-1.europa.icse.cornell.edu dc-2 dc-1.europa.icse.cornell.edu has address 192.168.15.250 dc-1.europa.icse.cornell.edu has address 192.168.3.250

I have a rule in sieve like the following: if anyof (header :contains ["to"] [ "box", "change", "cornell?, ?twitter?]) { setflag "\\Seen"; fileinto :create "misc"; stop; } The messages that come in are using address extensions, so user+twitter at example.com, for example. The trouble is, this sieve recipe doesn?t get triggered and

TKEY is unacceptable
Samba 4.1.1 using BIND_DLZ (bind-9.9.1-0.1.P2) on CentOS 6.5 x86_64. I have two domain controllers, dc-1 and dc-2, which each have three network interfaces. Selinux is in permissive mode, and iptables is off. One interface on each dc is to be shut down. So, on dc-1, I do: # nsupdate -g update delete europa.icse.cornell.edu A 192.168.3.250 update delete europa.icse.cornell.edu A 192.168.3.251

DFS redirection to sub-folders beyond share
Hi, I already posted this to smb-clients, but I believe that is a very low volume list. We have a very complicated dfs root. Now I'm not positive that this is how we should have done things, but it works very well with Windows clients, so it hasn't been thought about here. This does not work with smbclient or smbmount. I'm using freshly built smbclient from Samba 3.0.21a.

Zaptel ztdummy module causes playback to fail
I'm using asterisk 1.4.11 and Zaptel version 1.4.5.1 with kernel 2.6.22. I have the ztdummy module loaded, which is using zaptel and rtc. When the ztdummy module is loaded, sounds are not heard when using the asterisk "background" command. When the ztdummy module is unloaded, which also removes zaptel and rtc, sounds are heard. I've also tested this under kernel 2.6.21 with the
