convert Factor as numeric
Dear group, I know this issue has been already covered, and before you reply I must say I have read the R-FAQ and search the mailing list archive. I still can't manage to change my factor to numeric as I couldn't find any clear answer. Does "sink" stand for anything?
Hello Everyone,   Learning about R and its wonderful array of functions. If it's not obvious, I usually try to find out what a function stands for. I think this helps me remember better.   One function that has me stumped is "sink." Can anyone tell me if this stands for something?   Thanks,   Paul         __________________________________________________ [[alternative HTML

[FORGED] Error occurring in "emmeans" package for the two data sets I used. Please help.
Thanks for your kind reply. Problem is solved. However, it's "confidence interval / treatment comparison plot" is not taking main title. And the fonts of axes labels can not be changed using 'cex' parameter. I will appreciate if you could help in this matter too. Dr. A. K. I have a set of character vectors of uneven length that I have stored in a list. I can easily enough get any column of them using lapply but what I want is to be able to create a matrix of them. Other than some kind of brute force looping approach I have drawn a blank. Would somebody please suggest something? Thanks Example. mylist <- list(aa=c("cat","peach" ),

Different symbols for select points
Dear R users,  I hope you can help me as you have done before.  I was wondering if I can make some of the points on my graph a different colour and symbol? Some of my soil samples are enriched and I wanted them to be shown with a red triangle and the samples which are not enriched I wanted to show with a blue square. I can't seem to find a way of doing this if there is a way?  My script:

REML option in gstat
Hi, please help!! I've been trying to fit variogram models using the REML method in the gstat package. Every time the Windows GUI crashes. For example library(gstat) data(meuse) x <- variogram(zinc ~ 1, ~x + y, meuse) v <- vgm(140000, "Sph", 800, nug = 10000) plot(x, model = fit.variogram(x, model = v, fit.method=5)) Other fit methods are non problematic (eg. fit.method=7
