ts.plot data labels
Dear R users, I am trying to put labels on the data points on a ts.plot. I have tried: ts.plot(df.ts, gpars=list(xy.labels=colnames(df.ts), xlab="group", ylab="level")) which plots fine but gives no labels xy.labels=TRUE also plots without labels I also tried using text() but got an error Error in xy.coords(x, y, recycle = TRUE) : Argument "x" is

how to measure accuracy of regression tree?
Hello, for constructing regression tree, I am using rpart function. now after dividing dataset in to training and testing, I'm using predict for forecasting. how to measure accuracy of the predicted data? Thanks and Regards, Vibha. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

ts.plot and x axes customization
Dear List, I would be pleased if someone can help me with the following issue: I'm about to plot two time series in one plot via ts.plot which looks like: ts.plot(series1, series2, main=main, xlab=xlab, ylab=ylab, col=c("green", "red", "blue"), lwd=2) The problem is, that R automatically sets the x axes labels in 5-year-intervalls. Adding shading to background of Time series plot
Hello All, Thank you in advance. I have looked up and down in the archives to see if I could find some help on moving the polygons to the background of a ts.plot. I've tried panel.first in the gpars(...) arguments and trellis.focus, but I get errors. Am I missing something easy here? Here is my script: ts.plot(tsdjia, tstenyield, gpars = list(xlab = " ", ylab = " ",

getting a timeseries element into a string
I have a timeseries object, ts, and want to get the first date in the series into a string so I can concatenate it with a SQL query. Input and output are shown below. I must be missing something very basic, but I can't seem to pry the data ("2008-07-01") into a string variable. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Andrew =====script: class(ts) (ts[1,0]) #returns

Multiple series plot with different 'type' argument
Hi: I need to plot two time series in the same plot and they cover the same time range and have the same frequency. With RSiteSearch("multiple series plot") i found this post by Gabor Grothendieck: http://finzi.psych.upenn.edu/R/Rhelp02a/archive/42281.html Exactly what i need except for one detail. I want one series to be made of points and the other by a line. When I simply try: xts

multiple scale
Hi all i need to put on one graph 2 functions who's x axis is the same and y not. I mean on horizontal the time, and on vertical left: pressure, on vertical right: rpm of a motor, is R able to do that? i've found this that i could adapt maybe (i don't need time series really?) :/ : (http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/04/03/1456.html) ## ## Description: A simple function which

plot acf of several timeseries
Hello r-help, I have a couple of time-series of different length and I would like to produce a simple overview plot showing the autocorrelation functions of the series. The time-series are stored in a dataframe like this: > test.data item year value 1 xxx 1961 -1.09 2 xxx 1962 0.21 3 xxx 1963 -0.81 [trimmed] 8

timeseries
Dear useRs, I am trying to construct a time series using as.ts function, surprisingly when I plot the data the x axis do not show the time in years, however if I use ts(data), time in years are shown in the x axis. Why such difference in the results of both the commands Thanks nuncio -- Nuncio.M Research Scientist National Center for Antarctic and Ocean research Head land Sada Vasco da Gamma

ts & daily timeseries
I have defined a daily timeseries for the 365 days of 2003 issuing: myts = ts(dati[,2:10],frequency=365,) > myts Time Series: Start = c(1, 1) End = c(1, 365) Frequency = 365 and mytime = as.POSIXct(strptime(as.character(dati[,1]),format="%Y-%m-%d")) contains the dates from "2003-01-01" to "2003-12-31" How can I combine mytime and myts in order to list

Subtracting timeseries objects
Sorry to keep posting but I want to do this right and I'm hoping for some pointers I now have two time series objects which I need to subtract. Unfortunatly the two series dont have the same sample rates. When I try to subtract them avgSub<-avg1-avg2 The time series object is clever enough to object. So I guess I need to write a function for subtraction of the time series objects which

STL- TimeSeries Decomposition
Dear R Helpers, Currently I'm working with the ts package of R and created a TimeSerie from pixels extracted from satellite imagery(S10 NDVI data, 10 daily composites). I'm trying to decompose this signal in different signals (seasonal and trend). When testing out the STL method is says => Only univariate timeseries are allowed, but the current Timeserie I'm using is univariate!

modeling interval data, a.k.a. irregular timeseries
Greetings -- I've got some sensor data of the form t1_1, t1_2 t2_1, t2_2 ... tN_1,tN_2 -- time intervals measuring starts and stops of sensor activity. I'd like to see whether there's any regularity in it. Seems natural to consider these data timeseries -- except most of the timeseries packages and models assume regular ones, with a fixed frequency. I wonder what's a
