Mixed models
Hello Folks, I'm after some help regarding mixed models. Basically I have sampled a number of different animals at 10 independent sites and am trying to create a mixed model to account for the variation between sites my current model looks like this: mm<-glmm.admb(Hep~Sex+Mass, random=~Mouse, group=Location, data=alan, family="binomial", link="logit") I numbered each

All subsets regression
Hey folks, I'm trying to do all subsets on a zero-inflated poisson regression. I'm aware of the leaps and regsubsets functions but I don't know if they work for ZIP regressions or how the syntax fits in for them. Can anyone help? The model syntax is: > zip.zc <- zicounts(resp=Scars~.,x=~Location + Lar + Mass + Lac + Lar:Mass + Location:Mass, data = alan2,

Newbie
Hello, I'm a bit new to the world of R so forgive my ignorance. I'm trying to do a zero-inflated negative binomial regression and have received an error message and i'm not sure what it means. I'm running R 2.5.1 on XP. I have just tried a really simple version of the model to see if it would run before I put all the variables in. I have attached all the variables to the

Boxplot Fill Pattern
Hello R Help! I would like to make a legible boxplot of tree growth rates for each of seven tree species at each of seven different sites. It's a lot of data to put on one figure, I know. I made a beautiful, interpretable figure using color, but my target journal can't deal with color figures. I can use seven shades of grey to fill the boxes, but the figure then becomes uninterpretable -

Can I index a dataframe with a reference from/to a second dataframe?
Hello, I am unable to figure out how to code a new column in a data frame based on an existing column that matches a column in a reference data frame, in a relational-db fashion. I would like this to maintain a minimum set of reference tables that may be reused over several similar datasets. Specifically, I have two data frames as listed below, 'Bos' and 'tree.' For each case in

Getting unique colours
Hey everyone, I am new to R, and I'm making a scatter plot graph where i have a bunch of plots/points that fall into 9 unique categories. I want each category to have a unique colour, however, with the coding I have (below), the colour black is repeated for two of my plot types. Does anyone know a quick way to get 9 unique colours?? Coding: plotba = plot (predictedba ~ actualba,

Speeding up lots of calls to GLM
Dear useRs, First off, sorry about the long post. Figured it's better to give context to get good answers (I hope!). Some time ago I wrote an R function that will get all pairwise interactions of variables in a data frame. This worked fine at the time, but now a colleague would like me to do this with a much larger dataset. They don't know how many variables they are going to have in the

Regular Crashes - Partially Solved
Thanks Paradise, this seems to have worked a treat!!! I commented out the: exten => 110,hint,SIP/110 lines which were in extensions_additional.conf for each sip extension I had. This seems to have stopped the crashes which were previously 3-5 times a day, now: System uptime: 1 day, 18 hours, 10 minutes, 3 seconds Interestingly it had the knock on effect of fixing another problem I had

I have just setup asterisk on a debian sarge box. I am running Asterisk 1.21 with AMP and chan_capi_cm 0.6.1 using a BT Speedway (AVM Fritz) ISDN card, connected to a BT ISDN2e line. Currently we have 6 extensions (SIP) configured all using CounterPath(Xten) eyebeam softphone. After many hours of Googling I have finally got it all setup and working. We can transfer calls internally and make and

Trouble with glm() .... non-integer #successes in a binomial glm
Hi R-people: When I use the command to fit a model with an intercept, only: glm ( formula=haspdata ~ 1, data=dat, family=binomial, weights= dat$hy.wgt.s, subset=(dat$haspdat0!=3) ) I get the message: Warning message: non-integer #successes in a binomial glm! in: eval(expr, envir, enclos) Does anyone know what this means?? The data for this command is listed below. Thanks, Phil Smith CDC

building recommended packages on Windows
Hi, I am building 2.1.0 (re-release version, if that matters) on a Windows XP machine. Following the instructions 3.1 "Building from source" in R-admin.html, I managed to get up to 3.1.6. But when I try to build the recommended packages, I get C:\hiro\codes\proj\R-2.1.0\src\gnuwin32>make recommended --- Unpacking recommended packages ---- VR make[1]: *** No rule to make target

expm()
Can the expm function be used to calculate the exponential of a matrix where the matrix is multiplied by a vector in a data frame? For example for (i in 1:length(y)){ expmN<-expm(Q*y[i]) Q<-Matrix(c(1, 2, 3, 4), 2, 2) return(expmN) } Sorry I am new to R and I have been finding it difficult to get information on calculating Matrix exponentials in R. Many thanks in
