change in default behavior of ?functionname in R 2.10?
Hi everyone, I just installed R 2.10 using the Windows binary. At some point in the past using the Windows binary installation, the default behavior of ?functionname changed from plain text to a nice html interface. Now with R 2.10, the default behavior has changed back to the plain text help. I assume this has some thing to do with these changes listed for R 2.10, but I don't quite

bug in '...' of constrOptim (PR#14071)
Dear all, There appears to be a bug in how constrOptim handles ... arguments that are suppose to be passed to optim, according to the documentation. This means you can't get the hessian to be returned, for example (so this is a real problem, and not just a question of mistaken documentation). Looking at the code, it appears that a call to the user-defined f includes the ..., when the ...

read.table & readLines behaviour?
Hi, I have been using 'read.table' regularly to read tab-delimited text files with data. No problem, until now. Now I have a file that appeared to have read fine, and the data inside looks correct (structure etc), except I only had 15000+ rows out of the expected 24000. Using 'readLines' instead, and breaking up the data by tabs, gives me the expected result. I do not

odfweave with openOffice 3.2
Dear list, since I have upgraded openOffice to version 3.2 I have some trouble to open very simple ODT files generated by odfweave: the file is apparently corrupted (but recovery is fine). I have observed this under windows and mac OS 10.4.11 with R 2.10.0, odfWeave_0.7.11, XML_2.6-0, lattice_0.17-26. However, I found nothing similar by RSiteSearching so that I'm suspecting a localization

Errors when trying to open odfWeave documents
Hello I tried the odfWeave package today, by running the formatting.odt and example.odt files that are included with the package. They both ran fine, but when I try to open them in my OpenOffice (OpenOffice 3.1.1 on Kubuntu 9.10) I get an error "Format error discovered in the file in sub-document content.xml at 1293,124(row,col)." I also tried to open them in MS Word 2003 (Windows

Systemfit
Sadly you failed to set your email program to send plain text and the data is corrupted at my end. I also think you need to reduce the size of the data set... the intent here is to increase your understanding, not debug your particular analysis. I will say that I am having a very challenging time understanding what you are trying to accomplish though. What are the equations that you think need

OK, Let's try this again! Here is the reproducible script; it is long because I had to copy the panel dataset here. installing RCurl when libcurl is in non-standard location
Hi, I'm struggling to install RCurl for 32-bit linux and am hoping for some suggestions. I obtained RCurl_1.3-1.tar.gz from CRAN today, and am using a very recent version of R: R version 2.10.1 Patched (2010-01-12 r50970). I'm not the sysadmin for this system (disclaimer: my sysadmin skills are not very good, I'm afraid). curl is available centrally on the system but

Thougt I understood factors but??
Hi, consider the following > a<-gl(3,3,9) > a [1] 1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 Levels: 1 2 3 > levels(a)<-3:1 > a [1] 3 3 3 2 2 2 1 1 1 Levels: 3 2 1 > a<-gl(3,3,9) > factor(a,levels=3:1) [1] 1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 Levels: 3 2 1 It is probably something obvious I missed, but reading the documentation of factor, and levels I would have thought that both should produce the same output as
