Building a plotmath string in a function
I apologize if this has been asked before but I've look for a long time with no success. My problem is that I want to annotate a plot with an expression that combines parameter names with fitted values for from 1 to n parameters depending on the problem - something like R = 16.1, P[m] = 4.51, k[a] = 7.23, alpha[r] = .01 ... with the [] values as subscripts. I thought that because the number

Patch to make sshd work on multihomed systems
As far as I know this patch has no security implications -- I don't believe that allowing sshd to use get_local_name() (in canohost.c) on a connected socket to determine it's own fqdn will allow a malicious client (or router or dns server) to make it come to the wrong conclusion. But please let me know if you think I'm wrong. Please also let me know if you're just not interested

[nbdkit PATCH] python: Let zero's may_trim parameter be optional
In preparation for adding other optional flag arguments to the python bindings, start by making the existing 'may_trim' flag to 'zero' be optional. That is, the plugin need not define the parameter if it does not make any semantic difference (ie. if the plugin ignores the hint and never trims); while if the parameter exists, we now pass it as a keyword argument rather than as a

Viewing R objects in gdb
I'm trying to track down a bug in some experimental code, where an object's attribute is getting messed up. This means I'd like to examine R objects while within gdb. One of the things I'd like to do is to examine the names of all the attributes. This is exactly what an example in the R Extensions manual section 4.11.2 "Inspecting R objects when debugging" does,

More on bug 7924
Hi, Again, sorry for the length of this post. Once I get my new office I will get a website set up on my work machine and will simply post a link to the log since I doubt many people are truly interested in these logs. To further analyze what is happening, I added my own routine in main.c called DEBUG_SET_NAMED and then redefined the SET_NAMED macro to use it and then rebuilt R. I

Please Help me!
Hi, R-users, I have a problem: Because there are few files which can't be readed into R completely, so on the following subsequence programme, I use write.table, which creates the "NA" files for those incomplete files autimatically. I don't want those NA files. My programes formats looks like: name_c<-Sys.glob("C:/Documents and Settings/lma/My

using "substitute" inside a legend
Hello list, I have a linear regression: mylm = lm(y~x-1) I've been reading old mail postings as well as the plotmath demo and I came up with a way to print an equation resulting from a linear regression: model = substitute(list("y"==slope%*%"x", R^2==rsq), list(slope=round(mylm$coefficients[[1]],2),rsq=round(summary(mylm)$adj.r.squared, 2))) I have four models and I

Calling R from c in Windows XP
I'm searching for answers to four questions (I've been searching the net for hours...) In Windows XP, is it possible to call R functions from a c program? (I've found examples for Linux/Unix but not Windows) If so, is there a simple example to get started using gcc with R-2.10.0? If so, is it possible to write a simple interface using a c dll to call R functions from a Visual

R data inspection under gdb?
Hi, everyone. I'm trying to debug an R-module, written in C, and I'm using gdb for this. How can I print "standard" R objects from within C code? BTW, I'm familiar with the advice to use R_PV given in Writing R Extensions, but it's not working for me. E.g., I get (gdb) p R_PV(x) $1 = void and yet (gdb) p *x $2 = {sxpinfo = {type = 16, obj = 0, named = 0, gp = 0,

ltext, plotmath, and substitute
I am interested to use plotmath functions within a panel function but am having some problems getting the code right. Within each panel I am plotting the data, fitting a regression line, and would like to print the regression equation. Here is a trivial example of what I'd like to do: # generate simple data tmp.df <- data.frame(id = rep(1:4, each=4), time = rep(1:4, 4), das =

Funny result from rep(...) procedure
I'm observing odd behavior of the rep(...) procedure when using variables as parameters in a loop. Here's a simple loop on a vector 'branches' that is c(5,6,5,5,5). The statement in question is print(c(ni,rep(i,times=ni))) that works properly first time through the loop but the second time, when branches[2] = 6, only prints 5 values of i. Any ideas, anyone? iInd = 1

vectorized plotmath expressions via substitute()
hi all - i've seen versions of this question before, but none seem to get directly at my solving my (probably very simple) issue: i simply want to annotate the tick marks on an axis with (superscripted) 10^x notation, and tried this: axis(1, at = axTicks(1), as.expression(substitute(10^foo, list(foo = axTicks(1)))) thinking the as.expression/substitute would create the appropriate

substitute and expression
Hi, I'm trying to understand whether the use of substitute() is appropriate/documented for plotmath annotation. The following two calls give the same results: > plot(1:10, main = expression(alpha == 1)) > do.call(plot, list(1:10, main = expression(alpha == 1))) But not these two: > plot(1:10, main = substitute(alpha == a, list(a = 2))) > do.call(plot, list(1:10, main =

HeapAlloc vs. malloc. How does HeapAlloc work?
Hi, I am little bit interested in Wine source code. There is one thing I don't understand. How does HeapAlloc() work? Is it the same behavior as Winapi HeapAlloc()? If so then I have to check NULL value after each calling of this function, don't I? I have found this code in Wine 0.9.57: In dlls/dbghelp/stabs.c function 'static int stabs_new_include(const char* file, unsigned long
