barplot help needed
hello,
I would like to create the following barplot:
I have 4 different data sets (same length + stddev for each data point)
data1
sd1
data2
sd2
data3
sd3
data4
sd4
now, I'd like to plot in the following way:
data1[1],data2[1],data3[1],data4[1] with it's sd-values side-by-side at
one x-axis label (named "position 1") and each bar in different colors.

order in stacked barplot
Hello
i did a stacked barplot using ggplot and R arranged the bars of the items in
different orders. i don?t know why. but i want to have the same order in
every stacked bar.
I used the code
data1 <- read.table("N_O_W_MAI.txt", header=TRUE, dec = ",")
attach(data1)
Teich1<-factor(Teich,levels=c(5,7,9,11,"G") ,ordered=is.ordered(Teich))

default borders in boxplot and barplot
This is my first post so hopefully I haven't mucked up the rules.
I'm trying to change the default borders in either boxplot or barplot so
that, at the request of a journal, all of my figures have the same type of
border.
I've successfully used par(bty="o") using plot(1:10, bty="o"), but it
seems that barplot and boxplot have their own defaults that override

How do I exactly align the right hand side of "mtext" relative to a plot device? Beyond "adj".
Hi,
I have a problem with aligning text which I'm adding to a plot using
"mtext". I would like to specify the position of the right hand end of the
text string, relative to the device (in the left-right direction).
I've been looking at the use of the argument "adj". But this can't be used
to specify the rightmost point of the text. Neither does it specify exactly

The problem is that you have dat as a matrix with only one row.
barplot() applies the colours to the rows of dat; since you have only
one row, everything ends up blue.
You can fix this by creating dat as a vector using

change colour in barplot
Dear all
I know that it is a very simple question but it seems that I cannot change the colour in the bars.
I have the following dataframe:?

Tick marks that correspond with bars on barplot
Hello all,
I have created a barplot that shows change in hardwood/softwood density from 1965 to 2005 in 5 year periods (1965,1970, etc). I would like to have an X-axis where the labels for the years line up after every two bars in the plot (there is one bar for hardwood, and another for softwood). Below is my script:
density<-read.table("F:\\Megan\\Vtest.csv", header=TRUE,

barplot y axis too short
Hello,
The function barplot automatically creates a y-axis that doesn't necessarily
cover the range of y-values to be plotted. I know how to manually create my
own y-axis so that it does cover the range, but I was wondering if there is
some parameter to change so that the scale of the y-axis is automatically
taller than the tallest bar.
I thought setting xpd=F would do it, since it says that

adding labels above bars in a barplot
Hello,
I want to make a general routine to draw barplots with numbers plotted
above each bar. See the example below.
I could not place the numbers on the middle of each bar because I
could not calculate the right position of each x-axis tick. axTicks(1)
indicated a unitary step, but it does not seem work.
I appreciate any help or suggestions.
Best regards,

Colores en names.arg de un barplot()
Hola.
rep(c("black", "blue"), length(barras[,1]/2)
que permita pintar uno y uno en este gráfico:

Change margin size of complex barplot
Dear R-help members,
with the help of one of you the following R-Code was developed. No I have the (probably simple) problem that I want to increase font size of "text" and "ylab" names from 1 to 2. Unfortunately I'm not able to adjust the margin so, that the plot is appers complete (all names readable) on a 8:14 Inch scale plot.
Some times I get the error message that

Colores en names.arg de un barplot()
Gracias, Javier.

Barplot Labels Problem
Hi everybody,
well I'm trying to use barplot for the first time. I get a suitable graphic but I'm having a weird problem.
My graphic is generated from a matrix with several species (rowNames) and two abundance columns.
So each species will have two bars, and the species name should appear at left. Until now everything is Ok, but when a I plot it the species names (my labels) are cut by

Note that want the axis labels horizontally.
