danish characters - installing R - linux redhat 8.0
I'm using R on a linux redhat 8.0 installation. The special danish characters (ÅØÆæøå) are showed wrong on the screen. Example: yy<-matrix(c(0,2,1,1,8),ncol=1,dimnames=list(c("Brøæå","AGF","AB","Farum","FC-Kbh." ),c("Stemmer"))) barplot(yy[1:5],ylab=names(as.data.frame(yy)),main="5. grade.... ") Any hints? Cand.

how to match or merge data.frames in this case...
Hi, I'm trying to match two data frames in order to replace the boundary values in a dataframe.1 with values in dataframe.2 ONLY where the pair id1 id2 matches between the two data frames. Eg. > dataframe.1 ... id1 id2 boundary 3307 1095 1108 438.691 3308 1095 1109 438.691 3309 1095 1121 438.691 3310 1096 1109 438.691 ... 3345 1108 1120 438.691 3346 1108 1121 438.691 3347 1108

write.table: strange output has been produced
Good afternoon all - While making a steady progress in learning R after Matlab I encountered a problem which seems to require some extra help to move over. Basically I want to merge a data from biological statistical dataset with annotation data extracted from another dataset using an 'id' crossreference and write it to report file. The first part goes absolutely fine, I have merged both

How to join the two tables based on one overlapped column
Dear list, I need some clues on this. I have two excel files and I basically want to map one to the other one. Can you give me some hints how to do it? The first excel file, named as "Susan_probe.xls", there are two columns, "PROBE_ID1" and "SEARCH_KEY1" PROBE_ID1 SEARCH_KEY1 ILMN_30212 ILMN_30212 ILMN_1285 ILMN_1285 ILMN_137964 ILMN_137964 ILMN_138109

A lot of us wouldn't be here without him. DEC made good, really reliable hardware. mark <http://www.networkworld.com/news/2011/020711-kenneth-olsen-dec-obit.html>

While I empathize with your predicament, I generally prefer not to have expletives in my inbox. Also, what has this to do with markdown? Poisson regression with GEE using stepwise selection of independent variables.
Is there any way to perform stepwise Poisson regression with GEE in R? (I know, and agree that stepwise procedures are not best statistical practice. I have developed a model with 10 independent variables, my client want me to include 50 other independent variables. I, of course, don't what to do this. I am hoping that I can demonstrate that adding additional variables does not make a material

OT: DHCP address pool for specific MAC manufacturer
Dear CentOS, This is somewhat off-topic, but I do hope to implement this on a CentOS system, so here goes... I would like to be able to setup a dhcpd (or like) daemon to maintain two IP address pools. One for devices whose leading three octets of the client MAC address are specified and the other for all other clients. Both pools would be a defined range on a commmon /24 subnet. There a

Cannot enable "Enable advanced printing features"
Hi all. I'm trying to use Samba to replace an old Windows print server, and everything works just like a charm - almost... There's one thing, which prevents my organization from accepting this new printerserver, and that is that I'm unable to activate and save the "Enable advanced printing features" setting for the printers - this is used to allow for printing multiple

Samba 3.6.1 losing browser elections to WinXP
Hello Samba; I am aware this was a problem years ago... This week I turned up a brand new server to replace an embarrassingly old one. The problem has re-occurred. I expected this to be a problem long ago fixed. I have made the following registry edit to the offending XP machine and restarted Samba. I hope it sticks. I have two questions: 1) Have I missed something in the configuration?
