remote database queries
With good and faithful python remote database queries look something like this: url.urlopen("username/pssword at host",query) where query is something like "select * from table where ...." Does R support queries on remote hosts with username and password? What does a simple example look like? Thank you.

Loading libraries: Nas introduced
Hi all, I am trying to package a library in R 1.6.1 (Windoze XP). I have read the document "Writing R extensions" and think I have done things correctly (though apparently not). I have searched the mail archives for help to no avail. When I try to attach the library using, eg > library( libname, lib.loc=path.to.library) I get this message: Warning message: NAs introduced by

RFC: Adding a JSON library to LLVM Support
Finally following up here... We ended up writing a JSON parser and checking it in under clangd/. We've been using that for a while now without hitting new problems. The header is here: https://reviews.llvm.org/source/clang-tools-extra/browse/clang-tools-extra/trunk/clangd/JSONExpr.h It's a DOM-based approach with objects on the heap. There's no streaming parser, though one could be

RFC: Adding a JSON library to LLVM Support
We don't have a dedicated JSON library in the LLVM tree, I'd like to add one. The pressing need is for clangd, but we have other tools that read/write JSON too. I'm proposing we write a new one, rather than importing a third-party library (licensing/integration reasons), on or extending YamlParser/YamlIO (usability/flexibility). I lean towards a design that parses a full DOM at once,

Porting Custom Packages from Linux to Windows
On my linux workstation I have a nice, very little project in a directory called "mystuff" I installed "mystuff" into site-library with R CMD build, R CMD check and R CMD install. This was all with the file mystuff.tar.gz. Now I want to install "mystuff" on my windows workstation. Can I use the same file mystuff.tar.gz. Do I need to do something different with R

There are two ways to do this. You can either link the backend directly into llc (like the X86 or PowerPC backends, see tools/llc/Makefile), or you can dynamically load the backend. To dynamically load

Thank you... I am preparing to build a simple C compiler for our new architecture. According to your suggestion. I try to dynamically load my backend. How to update ports tree indexes when using svn
Hi list, after the security announcement (http://www.freebsd.org/news/2012-compromise.html) I use svn to update my local ports tree. I've found out that the port index is not updated. What is the preferred/recommended way to update port indexes when using svn? Thanks, Serguey.

Create package with Fortran 90 and C code
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I'm trying to add some Fortran 90 code to an existing package. When I compile and load the file manually like: SHELL> R CMD SHLIB file.f90 R> dyn.load("file.so") I can use the .Fortran() fine. However, when I try to build, install and load the library I seem to be missing something. I do a: SHELL> R CMD build dir SHELL> R

header files for R packages
I have 6 or 7 nice constants (for example 1852 meters per nautical mile) I would like to have available to 4 or 5 functions in an R package. In C this would just be a header .h file and I would just "include" I am stuck trying to figure out how to create something like a C header file for an R package. Any ideas?

How to handle one incoming call on multiple lines?
Hi, I have connected 4 analog public telephone lines to an Asterisk server using a Digium TDM400P card and that working fine. But my 4 lines are connected to each other in a group by the telecom operator. So if someone calls me all 4 lines are ringing. I wrote a AGI script which will handle the incoming calls, but before it decides to answer the call or not the next channel is ringing and

making scatterplot easier to read
Dear R users, do you know an easy way (other than star plot) of making several points laying one over another visible? Is it any simple way of increasing such "multipoint" symbols - or shifting their positions randomly to make several points in one place visible? Solaris Zone site.xml recipe
I was finally able to get ldapnodes [1] working on our puppetmaster so i''m able to start working on the fun stuff. In the last few days it has become critical that we come up with a better way to manage the configuration of our Solaris zones. I am planning to write a recipe that provisions the zone [using the zone resource type], but would like to avoid having to keep a stockpile

Tripwire and cron
I am trying to get tripwire 1.2 patch level 2 on Redhat 6.2 to run out of cron and so far have failed miserably. It runs fine from the command line so I know my configuration is ok, but when it runs from cron it gets to Phase 3 and simply exits. It doesn''t generate any error messages or leave any core files laying around.
