Help using "tm" text mining package - preprocessing
Thanks all for your help. I fear text mining is an abstract little corner of "R". I have imported 3228 text (.txt) files, each a news story, into R using [tm]: textd <- Corpus(DirSource("other/docs"), readerControl = list(reader =readPlain)) I can pre-process each individual document using tolower(textd[[1]]) however, when I try to run tmTolower() I get a no such command

However, when I apply it to my corpus using the tm_map function it only stems the last word of each document (The problem is the for wordStem and stemDocument does not work at all).  An example: > path <- c("c:\path\to\directory")       # collection of plain text documents > corp <-

Sorting text docs based on document meta values in tm()
Hi all, I wonder if there's any way to reshuffle the text collection by the document meta values. For instance, if I have 5 documents that correspond to the following meta data: MetaID Sex Age 0 M 38 0 M 46 0 F 24 0 F 49 0 F 33 Can I reorder the text documents based on the ascending order of age? Thank you very much!! -- View

Locale problem with umlauts in factor levels in 2.7.0 (patched) from grid or lattice
With 2.7.0 patched (not tested with 2.0.0), I get an error message in a program that ran correctly in R 2.6.2 when the grouping factor of a stripplot contains an Umlaut: I am aware that there are a few locale-changes in R 2.7.0, but I could not easily locate who's at fault Dieter library(lattice) dt = data.frame(x=rnorm(100),y=1:100,levs= as.factor(c("Gru","Gr?")))

migrations :timestamp becomes :datetime in mySql
For some reason whenever I try and create a timestamp column with migrations and mysql I get a datetime column instead. That''s kind of annoying because I want the column to update every time the row gets changed. Is this a bug, or is there something I can do about it? (Obviously I can manually change my mysql table, but that kind of defeats the point of migrations!) In my migration

date
Please, how to transform data from date_select (a set of select boxes) to one Time? Is there a built-in function? I need something like create_date(params[:date]) - this would collect all values from select boxes like date(3i), etc. and create a single date value. This is automatically done when saving a date into the database, but don''t know how to use the date in another way. --

Creating Vignettes
Hi, I want to create a new vignette and include it in an already existing package. That package has already many vignettes which are related to the chapters from the book on which the package is built. It would be a great help if anyone could help to understand how to create vignette for a statistical test like Chi-Square test. Thanks, Shreyasee [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
