Ferret locks up when adding items to an index
I''m running Ferret 0.9.5 on a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.4.7) under Locomotive 2.0.7. I have a problem where Ferret is hanging when I try to add items to the index. It doesn''t happen with every object that''s being indexed, and I''m not sure what the objects in question have in common (they are not all instances of the same ActiveRecord object). The process

Another web app using Ferret
I am apart of a team that runs a student site called Studicious (http://stu.dicio.us). We have been using Ferret from the beginning, and recently added acts_as_ferret and sorting to the system. As you can see if you try the search, sorting is not working as expected. I am using this code (w/ find_by_content): :sort => Ferret::Search::SortField.new(:school_sort, :reverse => false)

Ferret 0.9.4 C extensions and Macbook Pro
Hello, I am developing on a MacBook Pro. I had installed make and the gcc compiler in order to take advantage of the C extensions, and I installed the ferret 0.9.4 gem. When I installed the gem, it compiled the C extensions as part of the installation process for the gem, and I received this output: Attempting remote installation of ''ferret'' Building native extensions. Link_to popup divorced from controller?
Here''s my case: Using a link_to popup window to show a related help file of an element on a page. The problem: Window pops up perfectly, but refuses to carryover @instance variables in the controller that I referenced in the link_to command. The tests: - I have the right controller/class, because it renders a specific template, which is what it does. - I have the right template/view,

limit results to specific IDs
How would you go about searching only a specific set of IDs in acts_as_ferret? Should I just create a huge "or" query or is there a more stylish way? Thanks, Winton -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Ferret 0.11.1-rc2
Hey guys, Just released Ferret 0.11.1. Hopefully this will fix *most* of the problems people were having. Now that I know gcc hides stack overflows on Ubuntu because -fstack-protector is set, I won''t get caught by that one again. Anyone know any other gotchas I should be aware of on Ubuntu. Please try the new version and let me know if you are still having problems with it. I have until

rails 1.2.1, locomotive and backgroundrb
Hi I just tried to move my project to rails 1.2.1 on my locomotive development setup. It seems that backgroundrb is not willing to start up anymore. If I switch locomotive back to 1.1.6, everthing is fine. This is the error I get while attempting to start backgroundrb: /Applications/Locomotive2/Bundles/standardRailsJan2007.locobundle/

Ferret just got faster.
Hey guys, Sorry I haven''t been around for the last few days. I''ve just finished a coding marathon fixing up some of the performance problems in Ferret. If you don''t know what I''m talking about there has been a problem with Filters and Sorts on large indexes. Well, I think I''ve fixed the problem. Before: dbalmain at ubuntu:~/workspace/exp_old/c $

rescue_action_in_public useless to capture low level errors
Hi all, I''m trying to make for nicer system error handling, with the help of rescue_action_in_public (see Recipe 47, in ''Rails Recipes'') PROBLEM: While it lets me capture an incorrect db name in database.yml (for example), with lower level errors like when the DB server is just down, I still get the default system error screen for MySQL::ERROR :

Two character searchs don''t work
If we try to query a field with a_a_f with two characters in it, nothing is returned. "Move or shake" If I do "Move shake" it works. It seems like anything that has a two character word in it, doesn''t get returned with a_a_f. Any help would be great! -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

attachment_fu and/or rmagick on osx -- weird error
One of our developers is getting a weird error from attachment_fu and/or rmagick on OSX. And even weirder because he''s used attachment_fu and rmagick on other projects without difficulty. This all works fine on debian/ubuntu. See the stack trace below. Any suggestions? Btw, the code that''s blowing up is retrieving the attachment_fu info. The presence of image_science in
