Spatstat: xy binary data into mask type to use in owin(mask=)
Dear users,
I am trying to export polygons from Arcmap into Spatstat to run some
simulations using functions available in Spatstat package.
One particular area to be exported is formed by a number of polygons
defining the external boundaries of the area (as a groups of islands) and a
number of polygons inside the previous ones, as ?holes? not to be
considered as part of the area.
I have

envelope in spatstat
Hi R users,
This query is regarding the use of the 'envelope' function in Spatstat.
My data can be represented as a point process with CONTINUOUS marks:
points <- ppp(x=x,y=y, marks=m, window= wind)
However the marks are alignments (lines), and so have to be treated
differently to normal scalar marks. Hence to create a mcf object with the
appropriate test function for alignment

Problem with install.packages(); getting out-of-date version.
I recently tried to install the latest version of spatstat, from CRAN,
using the install.packages() function. It proceeded to install version
1.17-5 of spatstat, although the current version is 1.18-4.
Checking the CRAN mirror that I used (New Zealand) via Firefox, I found
that version 1.18-4 is indeed present on CRAN. I was able to download
and install version 1.18-4 ``manually''

about strauss process
i have trouble in using spatstat package.
i want to simulate a community under the Strauss process, which has a parameter gamma that controls interaction strength between points, and Strauss process is defined only for 0 ¡Ügamma ¡Ü 1 and is a model for inhibition between points.
my problem is that in my data, many species's estimated gamma is larger than one.so if i still wanna simulate

Spatstat
Hi all,
I am trying to install Spatstat on OpenSUSE 11.1.
install.packages("spatstat", dependencies = TRUE)
fails on the basis of various compiler packages (full message below).
I have gcc version 4.3.2, which should include gfortran and g++ - so I'm not
sure what to do!

Undefined symbol "Rf_pythag" while loading spatstat
Today I installed the newest R develepment branch
R version 2.14.0 Under development (unstable) (2011-03-18 r54866)
on FreeBSD 9.0-CURRENT (amd64). All seems fine so far.
After that I updated my R packages with option 'checkBuilt=TRUE'. There
are four packages (spatstat, pscl, adehabitatLT, adehabitatHR) which
gives an error like this:

Spatstat users.
This is a cry for help. My apologies for taking up bandwidth
with an issue that is not really on topic. But I really do want
to acquire the requested information.
In the course of preparing my PBRF (performance based research

I have been advised that I should provide some estimate of the number

Metropolis-Hastings Markov Chain Monte Carlo in Spatstat
I'm testing some different formulations of pairwise interaction point processes
in Spatstat (version 1.11-6) using R 2.5.0 on a Windows platform and I wish to
simulate them using the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm implemented with Spatstat.
Spatstat utilizes Fortran77 code with the preprocessor RatFor to do the
Metropolis-Hastings MCMC, but the Makefile is more complicated than any I have

Quadratcount() plotting in R spatstat
Hello,
I am trying to plot a quadratcount object over a ppp object in the spatstat

Quadratcount problem in spatstat
Hi,
I know there are older threads discussing the quadratcount function in
spatstat. Unfortunately, I could not find a solution to my problem there.
I'm analyzing a point pattern in an irregular polygonal window. Both the
window (an entire country) and the points are projected using WGS84.
When I do quadratcount with only one quadrat for the entire country it
holds all my 154 points:

spatstat => owin + image
Dear Community
I am at my wits end and seek advice.
My wish is to plot coordinates (x,y in WGS84_UMTS for the ones interested)
of sampling points.
This I can do by the standard spatstat prodcedure via owin. I then try to
add an image, which is
a map/satellite photo in the background.

importing shapefiles into spatstat
Dear R users,
I am using spatstat to analyze point patterns (tree locations). I would
like to import the shapefile with the study area polygons (six total) into R
and use it to create the window for the spatstat analysis. I do not simply
want to use a rectangle because the study areas spread out over 40000 ha.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

spatstat sub-selection
Fellow Users,
In Spatstat, if you have a ppp object with, say 100 points, how do you
create another ppp containing a random selection, N, of the original?
You can tell the function 'rthin' to make a sub-selection of points, i.e.
"every point is removed with probability 0.5" but you CAN'T set N exactly...
I'm sure this should be easy...
Ta!

Spatstat - K2 index
Hi all,
I'm using spatstat to investigate the spatial structure of an arid shrub
population. The first-order intensity of my data does not appear to be
homogenous, so I would like to use inhomogeneous techniques. I realise
there is a inhomogeneous K-function available in spatstat, but there
doesn't not appear to be one for the pair-correlation function (O-ring
statistic). As such I was

package: maps and spatstat question
I would like to use the output from the map function
in the package maps for use in, say, the spatstat
package. I don't quite understand the coordinates
for the border of the state:
Example:
library(maps)
iowa<-map("region","iowa)
x<-iowa$x
y<-iowa$y
There are NA's and duplicated coordinates.
What would I need to do to use this in the
spatstat owin command?
