Spatial cluster analysis of continous outcome variable
Dear R Users, R Core Team, I have a two dimensional space where I measure a numerical value in two situations at different points. I have measured the change and I would like to test if there are areas in this 2D-space where there is a different amount of change (no change, increase, decrease). I don´t know if it´s better to analyse the data just with the coordinates or if its better to group them

Trying to extract probabilities in CARET (caret) package with a glmStepAIC model
Dear developers, I have jutst started working with caret and all the nice features it offers. But I just encountered a problem: I am working with a dataset that include 4 predictor variables in Descr and a two-category outcome in Categ (codified as a factor). Everything was working fine I got the results, confussion matrix etc. BUT for obtaining the AUC and predicted probabilities I had to add

Repating a loop of lm function with different columns of database
Hi, First let me thank you for the incredible help and resource that this forum is. I am trying to compare the repeated measurement of more than 100 analytes that have been take in 70 subjects at 2 time points adjusted for the time difference of sample times(TimeDifferenceDays), therefore I wanted to do it with a function that allows me to do all at once. (131 is the column difference that

why the same values cannot be judged to be the same in R
Hi Rusers, I found sometimes that the same values cannot be judged to be the same in R. Anybody knows the probelm? I think i ignored some minor detail. Thanks. Here is the example. ############ data1<-matrix(data=c(1,1.2,1.3,"3/23/2004",1,1.5,2.3,"3/22/2004",2,0.2,3.3,"4/23/2004",3,1.5,1.3,"5/22/2004"),nrow=4,ncol=4,byrow=TRUE)

Dear Wiza[R]ds, I have a data.frame header that looks like this: v2FfaPre15 v2FfaPre10 v2FfaPre5 v2Ffa2 v2Ffa3 v2Ffa4 I need it to look like this, 15 10 5 2 3 4 i.e., with v2FfaPre and v2Ffa stripped off Any suggestions, Thanks in advance! -- Oscar Oscar A. read.*: How to read from a URL?
The question is how to use a URL in place of a file= argument for read.*.functions that do not support this internally. e.g., utils::read.table() and her family all support a file= argument that can take a URL equally well as a local file. So, if I have a file on the web, I can equally well do > langren <- read.csv("langrens.csv", header=TRUE) > langren <-

"error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(150)" revisited
I browsed the web and the archive, and apart from someone asking whether anyone else had rsync problems after installing OpenSSH 3.4, I came up empty. Can anyone point me in the right direction to debug this? I've got over 50 GB to keep in sync, and don't know of another elegant way to do it. Non-linear regression with latent variable
Hi Can anyone please suggest me a package where I can estimate a non-linear regression model? One of the independent variables is latent or unobserved. I have an indicator variable for this unobserved variable; however the relationship is known to be non-linear also. In terms of equations my problem is y=f(latent, fixed) q=g(latent) where q is the indicator variable For me both f and g are

Latent class multinomial (or conditional) logit using R?
Hi everyone? Does anybody know how can I estimate a Latent class multinomial (or conditional) logit using R? I have tried flexmix, poLCA, and they do not seem to support this model. thanks in advance adan -- View this message in context: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/Latent-class-multinomial-or-conditional-logit-using-R-tp4230083p4230083.html Sent from the R help mailing list archive at

latent class modle for rater agreement
Hello there, I would like to test the agreement amongst 6 raters for nominal data on a scale from 1-4, and conduct a latent class analysis in R. How should the data be formatted and what code should I use? Thank you very much Lisa Wang Princess Margaret Hospital Biostatistics tel:416 946 4501

Located Latent Class Analysis (Uebersax)
Dear list members I am new to the list and would be much appreciated if you could help me. I am very interested in applying Latent Class Model for analysing multiple raters agreement data. I have recently found a paper by Uebersax, J. (1993) which described a method in a form of Located Latent Class Analysis (llca). Uebersax has written a Fortran program which is available on the web, for the

MIMIC latent variable with PLS Path Modelling with R ?
I want estimate MIMIC latent variable with R in a Monte Carlo simulation. The packages plspm and semPLS don't permit to introduce MIMIC variable but only reflexives or formatives variables. The only one program which permits to use MIMIC latent variable with PLSPM seems to be XLSTAT, which can not be used to simulate a lot of data bases. It is a real challenge to develop a package with

lavaan: how to analyse residuals of a latent variable
Hi r-help, I use lavaan:sem() for structural equation modelling with latent variables. Below is a reproducible example (the code requires a working installation of lavaan) where the latent variable criminality is in focus. Besides criminality in general, I am specifically interested one of the manifest variables that make up the latent variable criminality, namely fire.setting. My question is:

finite mixture model (or latent class)
Dear Listers, My post might be somewhat OT. Currently, I am trying to use flexmix to build a finite mixture model. For instance, I am getting the prior probability and coefficients for each latent class from training data. Is there a way to get the posterior probablity and prediction of a new dataset? What I am thinking is to apply the prior prob and coefficient from training set to testing data

some improvements about the latent semantic search
Hi,all, Recently I invented a new ranking algorithm inspired by the theory of spread activation and probabilistic model, which can find the latent semantic relationship between docs and terms and is almost linear time, and I took one afternoon to code and implement this algorithm. And the testing result shows that the speed of this algorithm is much faster than the famous Latent Semantic Analysis
