how to open excel 2007 (.xlsx) file in R

RODBC, freetds, and MS SQL Server
I have a question for RODBC users out there. I have used the package with good results for some time. However, I have just switched from an OpenLink proprietary driver for MS SQL to the FreeTDS driver (I think it is MS SQL Server 2000 I'm connecting to if it matters). I was/am running them from unixODBC on a Linux Client. I think I have it set up fine since I can use "isql"

tips to speed up sqlSave with MS SQL Server?

Does Set Block IO tune take effect in the same session.
Hello All, I am using virDomainSetBlockIoTune() API to set the IO tune parameter for a running guest VM. I observed that after setting the value succesfully i ned to Shutdown and start the VM inorder to take the set value in effect. Is there any way with which these values come in effect in the same session of the VM without Shutting down and starting the VM. Please help regards, Vikrant

Help with RODBC connection to multiple MS SQL Sever databases
I'm trying to pull data from multiple MS SQL Sever databse in R. I can access the databases one at a time, but the tables are to large to pull the entire tables then join then in R. So I need to do a SQL join that will join the tables from the each of the databases. How do I combine the connection so that I can implement it in my sql query below. Java to R interface.
I want to call R functions from Java. I read a couple of forums that said to install package rJava in R. However I am not able to install rJava package in linux Ubuntu.I tried with two commands. One is install.packages("rJava") and another I downloaded the rJava_0.7-0.tar.gz file from R site. and gave the command R CMD INSTALL rJava_0.7-0.tar.gz. I got the followin Errors :- Warning
