What is the newline escape sequence when using the Hershey fontfamily?
Hello! The question is simple: What is the escape sequence for a new line when using Hershey fonts? I obviously tried '\n' but it didn't work (see the sample below). I looked at 'demo(Hershey)' but all it only shows escape sequences for printable characters. The sample I've been using to try to find the escape sequence is below. You can comment or un-comment the

Problem opening Adobe Indesign in Ubuntu Linux 7.0
I have installed Ubuntu 7.0 64-bit OS on a 64-bit hardware - Hyper Threading enabled P4 processor. Photoshop 7 and Pagemaker seems to be working fine. I installed Adobe Indesign without any problems. But, I am not able to run Indesign Once i execute the Indesign application, a window appears which loads all the plug-ins and files but disappears. The log is huge, i have pasted the begining of

two issues
I'm working on a graphic but have run into a road block about two issues. I don't have a color printer so I want to produce the graphic in black and white. I'm currently using this statement trellis.device(bg="white") but the body of the graphic contains color. What is the code to create the whole thing in black and white. The other issue might be a bit more tricky.

skip missing values in plots
I really like these Trellis graphics but how do I get this code to skip the missing? logreg<-read.csv("logreg.csv", header=TRUE, sep=",", na.string=" ") attach(logreg) bwplot(yesno~bc_pcb_tot |varlist, data=logreg, main="Box Cox PCB transformation", auto.key=TRUE, fontfamily = "HersheySans" ) Dean Sonneborn M.S. problem with lattice tiff or bitmap: character size and color
Hi all, I am trying to make tiff files of lattice plots at a resolution greater than 300 dpi required by a journal (PLoS ONE). I have tried both the tiff and bitmap functions. tiff keeps panel colors but reduces axes and tick labels so they are nearly invisible. bitmap maintains correct label size but only produces greyscale. Regular plots work fine with tiff; the problem is only with lattice

Re: How to run Adobe InDesign CS2 - Ubuntu 8.04 - Wine
It seems like someone got InDesign CS2 run here: http://blog.foozia.com/blog/2007/dec/12/running-adobe-indesign-cs2-under-wine-linux/. > > What I then did was to systematically remove folders from the plugins directory. By deleting the folder "scripts" Indesign started up nicely. There are only a few files in "scripts" not sure which one was causing the program to

Lattice device page options-margins
I am using lattice to make figures as pdfs: trellis.device(device = "pdf",file = "Figure6.pdf",color = FALSE) I need to specify some blank space on the left-hand margins (the pages will be bound so we need about 0.5 inch)). I have tried a number of solutions but none seems to work (e.g. par.set). Can this be done when initiating the plotting device? Or is the some other way

Problem with Save-As in Photoshop/InDesign on a samba server.
Hi, I have a quite "interesting" problem on a samba server: We (or better: our client) had a WinXP-system with a shared folder with lots of data, which has been replaced with a dedicated fileserver using Samba (on Linux). All data has been migrated and everything seemed to be fine, however Photoshop (CS3) and InDesign have some problems on WinXP: - files can be opened and modified just

two issues (black and white trellis graphics)
On the first issue, there's a recent post you can find in the archives. It's from Deepayan Sarkar on January 2 this year. It would probably pop up on a search for "black white lattice" or something similar. The key part of his answer: I'd do something like this as part of the initialization: <<...>> library(lattice) ltheme <- canonical.theme(color = FALSE)

scatter plot
I'd like to do a simple scatter plot but instead of using the variable values on the X axis I would like to plot the percentiles. I searched in the manual for percentiles but did not find what I was looking for. Accessor functions in lattice graphics
I know about the current.row, current.column, and panel.number functions that are useful within panel functions written for lattice. Are there easy ways to obtain the names of the conditioning variables (those appearing after |) and their values for the current panel? Truetype and Opentype font in pdf device
Deal all, I want to know if truetype or opentype fonts are available in pdf device (i.e., pdf() or dev.copy2pdf()), and if so, how to do it? Now I can do as followings: 1. convert ttf to afm using ttf2afm, e.g.: $ ttf2afm Impact.ttf > Impact.afm 2. put the afm file in $R_HOME/library/grDevices/afm 3. register a new type1 font: pdfFonts(Impact=Type1Font("Impact",

text labels in Trellis plot
Dear all, I need to generate plots in which the points of the plot are replaced by text labels, such as "dog" and "cat". The usual way of specifying the plotting symbol with pch works only if the labels are single characters, as far as I know. So, plot(runif(3), pch=c("A", "B", "C")) will work OK, but plot(runif(3), pch=c("dog",

Font family not found in Windows font database
Dear R Gurus, I have a fairly simple problem, but I haven't been able to find the answer on 'the google' or in the r-help archives. I am generating plots on both Windows and OS X where I need to guarantee that the font used is Arial. In my plot command I specify 'fontfamily="Arial"'. The problem is that on Windows I'm getting the following warning: Warning

lattice: double y - problem changing axis color after doubleYScale
Hi, I have had some troubles using doubleYScale. No matter what I try, I cant manage to change the color of the y-axis in the end. I have to produce a black and white plot. There is also something I do not understand regarding fontfamilyj="serif" when using it in: strip=strip.custom() Maybe someone has a better idea for defining which line and dots belong to which y-axis when not using
