Sweave: looping over mixed R/LaTeX code
Dear guRus,
I would like to loop over a medium amount of Sweave code, including both R and LaTeX chunks. Is there any way to do so? As an illustration, can I create a .tex file like this using a loop within a .Rnw file, where the "1,2,3" comes from some iteration variable in R?

ggplot2: deterministic position_jitter & geom_line with position_jitter
Dear guRus,
I am starting to work with the ggplot2 package and have two very dumb
questions:
1) deterministic position_jitter - the jittering is stochastic; is there
any way to get a deterministic jittering? For instance:
example.data <-
data.frame(group=c("foo","bar","foo","bar","foo","bar"),x=c(1,1,2,2,3,3),y=c(1,1,0,2,1,1))

Search generator and non-latin characters
I installed search generator and it works nice with latin characters in query, but when I use cyrillic it just shows all entities from table. I suppose it shows all the table when nothing appropriate found also. So the question is how to tune it for cyrillic for example and how to ?
Thanks,
Mikhail

Question on Stopword Removal from a Cyrillic (Bulgarian)Text
Hi,
I bumped into a serious issue while trying to analyse some texts in
Bulgarian language (with the tm package). I import a tab-separated csv
file, which holds a total of 22 variables, most of which are text cells
(not factors), using the read.delim function:
data<-read.delim("bigcompanies_ascii.csv",
header=TRUE,

utf8 postscript cyrillic
Dear R users,
I am running R version 2.10.0 (2009-10-26). I need to prepare an eps
graphic with a legend with cyrillic words. I tried setting the encoding
parameter of the postscript command, but in vain, nothing seems to work. I
tried with CP1251, KOI8-R, UTF-8 and Cyrillic (UTF-8 turned out to not be
available under /usr/lib/R/library/grDevices/enc). All I get is ????????

problem reading from serial connection since 2.10.0
Dear list,
I have a balance connected to the serial port of a windows machine ("COM1") and I read the text
output of the balance with
scan("COM1", what="character", sep="\n", n=1)
after calling the previous line I press the print key on the balance which triggers sending one line
of text to the serial connection and with R 2.9.2 I get something like

[bug report] Cyrillic letter "я" interrupts script execution via R source function
My understanding (which could be wrong) is that when you source a file,
it first gets translated to your native locale and then parsed. When you
parse a character vector, it does not get translated.
In your locale, every "?" character (U+044F) gets replaced by the byte
"\xFF":

Mixed Latin, Greek and subscript characters in axis label
Dear R-helpers,
I have been trying to figure out how to plot a graph with an axis label
consisting of a mixture of Latin, Greek and subscript characters.
Specifically, I need to write A[beta]{1-42}, where A is Latin script A,
[beta] is Greek lower case beta and {1-42} is subscript '1-42'.
I can use xlab=expression(beta[1-42]) and obtain the [beta]{1-42} part of
the label. But, I can't

Non-Latin labels in identify
Greetings.
I'm trying to label some points using the identify() command. The
labels and the coordinates are coming from a csv file. The file
encoding is UTF-8.
If I use labels in Latin characters, everything comes out OK. But
when I switch to using labels in Cyrillic, I get garbage.
To check that my file is not corrupt, I've attempted to create the
labels using the text() command and

R 2.1.0, Windows, non-Latin locales
It looks like no one tested the beta of 2.1.0 for Windows in an East Asian
or cyrillic locale. In most cases example() will fail there.
If this is likely to affect you, please use R-patched instead.
We really do need help from the users in the beta-test period, especially
in languages not used by the core team. (Even the Chinese translator does
not himself use R in Chinese.) So the beta

plot cyrillic characters on MacOS X
Hi!
I'm running R version 2.4.1 (2006-12-18) on MacOS X 10.4; my $LANG is

While trying to plot a graph to PDF with cyrillic characters in the
legend, I get warnings (in Russian):

[bug report] Cyrillic letter "я" interrupts script execution via R source function
Hello,
I do not have an account on R Bugzilla, so I will post my bug report here.
I want to report a very old bug in base R *source()* function. It relates
to sourcing some R scripts in UTF-8 encoding on Windows machines. For some
reason if the UTF-8 script is containing cyrillic letter *"?"*, the script
execution is interrupted directly on this letter (btw the same scripts are

I uploaded an example file to: http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt
And tried the command:
read.table("http://www.talgalili.com/files/aa.txt", header = T, sep = "\t")
This returns me with:

cyrillic font in Transparent LanguageNow! Russian
I have gotten the Learn Russian Now! by Transparent to work OK. The
movies and audio play just fine, but the cyrillic font is showing bad
ASCII characters.
I have cyrillic installed and working for other apps, but not for this
one. I am not that familiar with wine or wine.conf. Is there
something that I should be looking for to enable the font support for
cyrillic in these programs?
