oddness when adding to index -
I was having some odd results when working with acts_as_ferret (current trunk), so I decided to test with the current version of ferret to see if I encountered the same problem. I did. Here are the details: installed ferret 0.10.10 on debian sarge with ''sudo gem install ferret'' (btw, same results on OSX) opened up an irb session: irb(main):001:0> require

The following script creates a search index and then searches it. I get no results? Where am I going wrong? Thanks. -----------BEGIN SCRIPT---------------- require ''rubygems'' require ''ferret'' include Ferret path = ''/tmp/myindex'' field_infos = Ferret::Index::FieldInfos.new() field_infos.add_field(:name, :store => :yes, :index => :yes)

Numeric Range or comparision doesn''t work
Hi, it looks like Ferret still compares numeric fields by lexical ordering, not numerical ordering. I am using Ferret 0.11.4(I tried in both linux and windows, the results are the same). index = Ferret::Index::Index.new() docs = [ {:num => 1, :data => "yes"}, {:num => 1, :data => "no"}, {:num => 10, :data => "yes"}, {:num => 10, :data

Possible Bug when Creating Indexes
I''m running: ferret (0.10.9) ruby 1.8.5 (2006-08-25) [i386-mswin32] on Windows XP(SP2) When I create an index as follows: field_infos = FieldInfos.new(:store => :yes, :term_vector => :no, :index => :yes) field_infos.add_field(:id, :index => :untokenized) field_infos.add_field(:subject) field_infos.add_field(:author) field_infos.add_field(:tags, :store => :no) index =

svn problems
I can consistently segfault the 0.10.4 gem, so I''m trying to get the subversion version working with hopes towards tracking the problem down. I have a fresh SVN checkout but: a) the version (in ferret.rb) claims to be 0.9.6; and b) Ferret::Index::FieldInfos and a couple other classes are missing at run time. It looks like this is because they''re not exported in the C

Odd indexing issue
Hey Dave, I just contributed $100 to the ferret donation box. My project is earning no money yet (but hopefully will), for now I hope this helps you out and covers me for asking stupid questions ;). To get a distance sorted output, I am passing an array of the id field from a ferret search through to mysql in a custom select statement. SELECT ... id IN (#{ids.join(",")}) This has

FerretHash
Dave, thank you so much for the 0.11 release(s). You have solved many problems for me. As part of my appreciation for your good works, I am offering up for public consideration a silly little class that I wrote. (Code is below.) This class offers a simplified Hash-like interface to (a very restricted subset of) Ferret. Hence I call it FerretHash. FerretHash comes with its very own pet Ferret

Memory allocation bug with index.search
Hi Dave ( again ! ) I''ve been searching for a while into my extension code to understand what was the matter, and Florent Solt who hasn''t got my extension has the same problem, so it figured to be a ferret problem.. Unfortunately, we''re unable at the moment to reproduce it in a little code so you could debug easilier... I''m working on it. Heres the issue :

problem with TermQuery
This might be more of a Lucene question, but I can''t figure it out. How come this works: Item.find_id_by_contents("name:Bob") but this returns no results: Item.find_id_by_contents(Ferret::Search::TermQuery.new(:name, "Bob")) Thanks in advance! -Jon -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Parallel indexing doesn''t work?
Hi, I''m trying to get parallelized ferret indexing working for my AAF indices, based on the example in the O''Reilly Ferret shortcut. However, the resulting indices after merging seem to have no actual documents. I went and made minimal changes to the example in the Ferret shortcut pdf, and indeed can''t get that to work either. I''d appreciate any help

crash on repeated search
I have found another crash in ferret; this one just uses a regular search. It''s similar to an issue reported by Matt Schnitz a while ago, but unlike his, mine does not go away if I turn off omit_norms. It does go away if I turn on the garbage collector more often, but I''m not sure that''s a stable workaround under the circumstances. This one isn''t a

Two repeatable crash bugs in Ferret proper
Hi guys! Been reading this list for a while. I have two repeatable Ferret crash bugs, both seg faults. 1. The first bug appears to seg fault Ferret when you use quotes in a search argument (eg ''file_name:"file name"'') 2. The second bug appears to seg fault Ferret when you attempt to index text with very long tokens (above 256 chars). It may have something to do with

smb2_validate_sequence_number: bad message_id 2
Hi, I would like to share a situation we are facing when managing users over RSAT tools or when acessing the sysvol share over explorer. First, we have a samba4 domain with two DCs and about 9K objects in the database. Recently we updated these DCs from version 4.16.0 to 4.18.2. Before upgrading to 4.18.2 everything worked fine! After, also, however we started to frequently experience a delay

Using QueryParser vs building my own query
Hello all I finally caved in and decided I should build my own query instead of relying on QueryParser to do the job for me, but I''ve hit a strange problem.. Here''s how I build my query: #Main query query = Ferret::Search::BooleanQuery.new #Build query to match types typesquery = Ferret::Search::BooleanQuery.new @selected_types.each{|type| typesquery.add_query(

Bad message_id occasionally when connecting a MacOS to a freebsd running 4.8.2
Hi, I am running Samba 4.8.2 with fruit and use it to connect a MacOS to the server. Mostly it works very good, but occasionally the connection halts or the Mac disconnects, and in the log I find these messages: Jun 20 13:00:00 orca smbd[6033]: [2018/06/20 13:00:00.856101, 0] ../source3/smbd/smb2_server.c:641(smb2_validate_sequence_number) Jun 20 13:00:00 orca smbd[6033]:

Query Objects vs. Query Strings
Hi .. I tried to build some query objects to get some documents from my index.. without success.. Is something wrong here? q = Ferret::Search::BooleanQuery.new q1 = Ferret::Search::TermQuery.new(:type, "movie") q2 = Ferret::Search::TermQuery.new(:name, "Indiana") q.add_query(q1, :should) q.add_query(q2, :should) Indexer.index.search_each(q) do |doc, score| puts doc end 0
