Point plot comparisions
I would like to create a point plot with the following two sets of points:
#1 plot(Day,Total) and #2 (Day,cons_hat). Total is the actual value seen
and cons-hat is a predicted value. If possible, I do not want to stack them
as they are quite long. (FYI, I did use the reshape on a previous post,
thanks, but this one is different).

ggplot cumsum refined question (?)
OK, so maybe last night was a little too much at one throw, so I have
reduced the data to two stations- one that has precipitation and one
that does not. This is going to be in the context of a larger data
set. I would like to be able to issue a ggplot command and have cum
sum just act on the facets (factors) to apply this.

Calling Data frame objects with spaces in their names
Hello I have the following data frame which I read from an EXCEL file, and
when i try to call one of its columns with a space in their names I am not
being able to. For example if I do EURODOLLAR$ED1.Comdty Date I obtain the
following error:
Error: inesperado sÃmbolo en "EURODOLLAR$ED1.Comdty Date"
I have also tried using . or _ instead of the space and have obtained no
succes. How do I

help for segmented package
Hi,
I am trying to find m breakpoints of a linear regression model. I
used the segmented package. It works fine for small number of
predicators and breakpoints.(3 r.v. 3 points). However, my model has
14 variables it even would not work even for just one breakpoints!.
The error message is always estimated breakpoints are out of range.
Since my problem is time related problem. So I

Two Problems while trying to aggregate a dataframe
Hello!
Given is an Excel-Sheet with actually 11,000 rows and 9 columns. I want
to work with the data in R. The contents are similar to my following
example.
I have a list with ID-number, personal name and two kinds of
loan-values. I want to aggregate the list, that for each person only one
row remains and where the loan-values are added.
First I tried some commands with tapply but had no

dealing with a messy dataset
dear R-users,
I am facing a quite regular and basic problem when it comes to dealing
with datasets, but I cannot find any satisfying answer so far.
I have a messy dataset of galaxies like that :

What is the degrees of freedom in an nlme model
Dear all,
I want to do a F test, which involves calculation of the degrees of
freedom for the residuals. Now say, I have a nlme object "mod.nlme". I
have two questions
1.How do I extract the degrees of freedom?
2.How is this degrees of freedom calculated in an nlme model?
Thanks.

system wakeup caused by write operations to /var/lib/dovecot/instances
Hi Timo,
Thank you very much for replying with an instant solution!
Suggestion for future release: a setting in the configuration to
enable/disable the automatic instance_update_now action and/or set the
timeout by the user.
In the meanwhile I can use the recompiled version with this code change.
Problem solved for me.
Regards,
Tijl

Biglm source code alternatives (E.g. Call to Fortran)
Hi everyone,
I have been looking at the Bigglm (Basically does Generalised Linear Models
for big data under the Biglm package) command and I have done some profiling
on this code and found that to do a GLM on a 100mb file (9 million rows by 5
columns matrix(most of the numbers were either a 0,1 or 2 randomly
generated)) it took about 2 minutes on a linux machine with 8gb of RAM and 4
cores.

[LLVMdev] pb05 benchmarks for llvm/dragonegg 3.2
Duncan,
With the commit from http://lists.cs.uiuc.edu/pipermail/llvm-commits/Week-of-Mon-20121203/158488.html,
the Polyhedron 2005 benchmarks complete again on x86_64-apple-darwin12. The result are similar to what
were seen with FSF gcc 4.6.2svn and llvm/dragonegg 3.0 (which was the last release that passed pb05)

dealing with a messy dataset
It looks like fixed width. I just used the last position of each
field to get the size and used the 'readr' package;

Dotchart per groups
Hi all,
I would like to ask you for help. I did a dotplot - using dotchart
function.
There are two localites (loc) with values 75 or 56 in my data ZZ.
The f column has 4 levels: P1, S1, S8, R6.
The dataframe is ordered by N value, pchloc value is assign to use "pch" in
plot.

I make a subroutine that give-me a (mathematical)

I would like transform this string into function ( R

thanks for any tips.

Local node indexes in a cluster backend with GFS2
Hi, all
this days I'm testing a dovecot setup using lvs, director and a cluster
email backend with two nodes using rhel5 and gfs2. In the two nodes of the
email backend I configured mail location this way:
mail_location =
sdbox:/var/vmail/%d/%3n/%n/sdbox:INDEX=/var/indexes/%d/%3n/%n
/var/vmail is shared clustered filesystem with GFS2 shared by node1 and
node2
/var/indexes is a local

dealing with a messy dataset
Is this a fixed width format?
If so, read.fwf() in base, or read_fwf() in the readr package will solve the problem. You may need to trim trailing spaces though.
