Survey on Web Geo-Spatial Open-Source Technologies: Questionnaire on Ruby On Rails
[Sorry for cross-posting] Hi everybody, I am part of the Spatial Information Systems Group in University College Dublin. We are conducting a survey on Open-Source technologies with particular focus on Geo-Spatial projects. Our goal is to collect first-hand knowledge about a number of Open- Source projects active on the Internet. With this work we hope to identify strong and weak points of each

form_remote, getting data from submit
Hi list, I'm writing a little survey application, and surveys are generated dynamically. I use form_remote_tag and AJAX to submit the form to a method 'submit' in my 'survey' controller. The view generates the form as: <tr> <td>Question 1?</td> <td><input id="resultset_1" name="resultset[1]" size="30"

Bachelor's Thesis on Ruby on Rails
Hey guys, Does anyone has an idea for what one can do for a bachelor''s thesis on Ruby on Rails? Possibly focusing on design patterns/benchmarking it against J2EE and stuff like this? Will be eternally grateful if anyone can contribute any idea! Regards Steve _______________________________________________ Rails mailing list Rails-1W37MKcQCpIf0INCOvqR/iCwEArCW2h5@public.gmane.org

RE: extending an existing DOM object in aprototypeway
..lol... and I screwed up the option... one more time... var myActiveSpanBase = new ActiveSpan({color: "red"}); Object.extend($(''someSpan''), myActiveSpanBase); $(''someSpan'').setup(); Or, more concisely... Object.extend($(''someSpan''), new ActiveSpan({color: "blue"}); $(''someSpan'').setup();

mixed models for analyzing survey data with unequal selec tion probability
Han-Lin I don't think I have seen a reply so I will suggest that maybe you could try a different approach than what you are thinking about doing. I believe the current best practice is to use the weights as a covariate in a regression model - and bytheway - the weights are the inverse of the probabilities of selection - not the probabilities. Fundamentally, there is a difficulty in making

[Fwd: Re: mixed models for analyzing survey data with unequal selection probability]
Hi, All Thanks to Robert Baskin, Thomas Lumley, and Spencer Graves for the valuable helps. I have learned a lot from this discussion. I put all discussions together without editing, so we can see how things are evolved. Likely, I have a lot of articles to read. As in the discussion, mixed modeling approach is a poosible but may be over-kill in my posted data analyses. I will explore other

RE: extending an existing DOM object in a prototypeway
Gosh darn Outlook seems to have stripped some newlines from my response... last few lines should read... var myActiveSpanBase = new ActiveSpan({"red"}); Object.extend($(''someSpan''), myActiveSpanBase); $(''someSpan'').setup(); Or, more concisely... Object.extend($(''someSpan''), new ActiveSpan({"blue"});

PHP include() Type Functionality in Ruby/Rails
Greetings, I am working on extending a new part of our site to use Ruby on Rails, and have several portions of the site that is included in external files. The rest of the site is built on top of MovableType and uses PHP Includes to reference the external files. Is there similar functionality in Ruby or Rails that I can use so I don''t have to update excess content in two

Payflow Pro (was Re: FatWreck.com - New Rails Site)
Several years ago, before PHP introduced their built-in pfpro functions, I rolled my own crappy interface, which of course delegated to the commandline payflow client. I could certainly do the same in Ruby today. Thinking back on it, I realized at the time, and realize again now, that delegating this functionality to a commandline app is a security risk unless you''re the *only* user on

Edge Rails idea -- was [DRY relative to edit and show]
Just got around to understanding your idea Rich. Your idea seems to apply to every controller with new/edit/show views, so I think this is a better idea for the edge rails folks to implement generically than for a newbie like me do as a one-off. Thanks Greg On 12/23/05, Rich Clingman <Rich-xT5DcnBKZlNBDgjK7y7TUQ@public.gmane.org> wrote: > > > It would be nice if rails had a

javascript woes with radio button groups
Ok! So I have this survey project I''m working on where there are a list of questions but only one shows up at a time. That part''s easy. And, it is fully functional as we speak (and I think even ''live'') however..... My boss wants to be able to have the survey go to the next question when a user selects an answer. This part is easy.. except..... IE

Any good examples of survey processing?
I'm trying to get a semi-automated approach to processing survey data that I'm getting from mod_survey, an Apache-based web survey tool. It looks like one can do this with enough experience in writing R routines. Before I start from scratch, is there a sample file that shows good techniques for producing labeled graphs and tables from survey data with R? I've looked but not found what

Fwd: [Ruby on Rails] #5181: Autocomplete: How do i format the text in the drop down?
Howdy... How can the text be formated on the downloadable sample (\scriptaculous-js-1.6.1\test\functional\ajax_autocompleter2_test.html)? In your downloadable demo... the format of the drop down (in the txt area) is a ordered list.. where and how is this formatted? and is it possible to use a CSS on it? If so.. how would i do that? I like the formatting you have on your demo

Marketing Side of Ruby on Rails
All, I''ve posted a little piece on www.ryanripley.com about the marketing factors that lead / are leading to RoR''s success. It would be great to hear some feedback if some of you... Sorry if this is a shameless plug and / or inappropriate for this list... I''m simply curious what the "choir" thinks about my take on this. Thanks, --Ryan
