Unexpected Gap in simple line plot
I am getting an unexpected gap in a simple plot of monthly data series.
I have created a csv file of monthly climate observations that I store
on-line. When I download the csv file and plot one of the series, I get a
gap even though there is data for the missing point.
Here is a snippet to show the problem.

A friend just sent me this:

asked me if there is something of the like in the R community.
Does anyone know of such a think ?

How to do a pretty panel plot?
The pretty picture that I saw at:
http://chartsgraphs.wordpress.com/2009/02/09/r-panel-chart-beats-excel-chart/#more-1096
inspired me to try something similar. The code that I wrote is:

13757, 13787, 13818, 13848, 13879, 13910, 13939, 13970,

R and Wordpress
Dear R helpers,
I have a question regarding wordpress and R. I have asked this
question in Wordpress support (
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/368312 ) but there is no answer so
far, maybe the R community can have a better answer.
I followed the excellent tutorial on r-statistics-blog (

) to enable syntax

More efficient use of reshape?
Hi all,
I have played a bit with the "reshape" package and function along with
"melt" and "cast", but I feel I still don't have a good handle on how to
use them efficiently. Below I have included a application of "reshape" that
is rather clunky and I'm hoping someone can offer advice on how to use
reshape (or melt/cast) more efficiently.

gráficos de cotizaciones
Comparto totalmente la sugerencia de Carlos Ortega. Si aún así quieres
gráficos de velas o gráficos OHLC el mejor paquete que puedes usar es uno
de temas financieros:
http://www.quantmod.com/
Ten en cuenta que en los mercados bursátiles tiene algún sentido usar ese
tipo de gráfico ya que en la apertura y mayormente en el cierre diario se
concentran operaciones.
Me imagino que esto no es así con

Simple time series questions
I'm sure this is a really simple problem, but I've spent hours digging and I
keep running into roadblocks.
I'm trying to get a simple chart with three time series. Similar to the
attached example

Excel+chart+example.pdf , something that was quite easy to do in Excel,
except that I need a log y-axis: something that R

Creating a Clustered-Stacked Column Chart
Hi all,
In R, is there some functions or ways to create a Clustered-Stacked
Column Chart as the example in the following page
http://peltiertech.com/Excel/ChartsHowTo/ClusterStack.html?
I have browsed the R Graph Gallery (http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/)
and searched the R site, and didnot find an appropriate method to do it.
Anybody has met this problem before?
Thanks a lot.

iterative regressions, adding a new line of data each time
Hi, I am pretty new to R. I'm trying run a regression repeatedly, adding a
new data point each time, and then storing the predicted Y values. For
example, let's say I have 500 data points and I run the regression. I would
then like to store the Y value, run the regression again using 501 data
points, store the new Y, run the regression with 502 data points, store the
Y, and so on. What I

Using zoo() to aggregate daily data to monthly means
I am trying to get monthly means for a daily data series using zoo(). I have
found an odd problem, that seems to be caused by zoo()'s handling of leap
years.
Here's my R script with 2 methods (freq=365, 366) for aggregating the daily
data to monthly series:
library(zoo)

User input in R program
HI Everybody
Does anyone know of documentation about different ways of obtaining user
input in R. I have used readline() but I wondered is there are sophisticated
packages that does things like validate answers or generate selection
lists.

Help request: highlighting R code on WordPress.com blogs
Hello dear R help members (and also Yihui and Romain),
There are currently 28 R bloggers (out of the 117
R-bloggers<http://www.r-bloggers.com/>I know of) that are using
wordpress.com for publishing their R code (and I suspect this number will
increase with time).
WordPress.com doesn't support R syntax highlighting, nor can it
be embedded from other services (like gist

Animated gif or something similar in R?
I'm have a (minor) problem and a question.
Problem: The following code creates 5 clusters of dots of different
colors. However, I need the second call outside the data.frame call to
get the colors to change for some reason. I assume there's an error in
the data.frame() call, but I don't know what.
Question: Is there is a way to cause the resulting graphic to rotate on

Dot plot - equivalent of MINITAB
hi folks,
Bit of a newbie, but I've spent a fair bit of time looking for an answer on
this, with no joy. Can anyone help me?
Dataset: A single column of values in a csv file (eg. 52, 53, 54, 85, etc)
Goal: In Minitab, you have what they call a dot plot. It's a histogram,
where a single dot represents a set of identical values (eg. 57, 57, 57
would be one dot). Multiple dots are

Auomatic Download of climate netcdf4 files from the Climate Explorer Website
Dear R-helpers,
I am trying to download some netcdf4 files from the Climate Explorer
Website:
http://climexp.knmi.nl/start.cgi?id=someone at somewhere
In fact, there are 78 distinct files. I have found a way to download a
particular file and open it in R, but I have been informed that there exists
some code to automatically download all the files. Do you have any clue
regarding how to achieve
