"Use R" -- term and logo copyright?
Dear list,
I would like to start some R workshops at King's College London, and
to do so, I would like to use the "Use R!" logo at

Since it seems to be difficult to get a shell account at KCL, I also went
ahead and registered use-r.org.uk and am starting to put together a

Combining several plots besides a dendrogram?
Hello all,
I would like to recreate the plot shown here (from a useR 2009
presentation):
http://www.agrocampus-ouest.fr/math/useR-2009/abstracts/pdf/Hocking.pdf
I downloaded the code for that image, and discovered that it relies on
external web services, and also having PERL installed on the computer.
I believe this could be done "locally" using the "seqLogo"

request of information about creating DLL from R to be used in other languages/programs
Hello
My question is the following. I have tried to find a similar subject in
archives but not found (perhaps bad search!) and I tried R-help and I was
advised that R-devel would perhaps better for my question
So I wonder if it is possible to create a dll from a R code to use it in
another language/program.
Indeed, one of my colleague wrote a R code combining some R functions to

Partykit Document
Hi All,
I'm a newcomer to the R community, just started learning R. I need
to use partykit for developing CART. But I'm not getting any document/help
for using partykit/rpart.
http://www.agrocampus-ouest.fr/math/useR-2009/slides/Hothorn+Zeileis.pdfgives
some example, but it doesn't tell how my own data should be formatted
so that it can be accepted by partykit.

Bayesian inference distribution parameters
Dear all,
I'm having a hard time trying to estimate in a bayesian way the parameters
alpha and beta for a beta distributed set of data (frequency of
occurrence). Do you have any suggestions or tutorials on how to estimate
this?
Best regards,
JC

lmer: random factor nested in a fixed factor
Hi all,
I try to build a model using lmer, with 2 crossed fixed factors (poptype
and matingtype) and 2 random factors (pop and family) which I want to
nest within poptype. Which of these formulae should I use ?
1. lmer(y~poptype*matingtype + (1|poptype/pop/fam))
2. lmer(y~poptype*matingtype + (poptype|/pop/fam))
thanks in advance

ansari.test (one tailed)
Hello.
I am probably wrong... I am wondering if it could have a mistake
in the code of the ansari.test function. For me, it seems that the function
do not recover the p value at the correct side of the normal law N(0, 1) when it
use
the normal approximation (presence of ties) in a one tailed test.
Exemple :
quanti<-c(197, 205, 228, 234, 237, 195, 233, 226, 244, 227, 259, 185, 198, 253,
