multiple lty on same panel in xyplot
I would like to use lattice graphics to plot multiple functions (or groups
or subpopulations) on the same plot region, using different line types "lty"
or colors "col" to distinguish the functions (or groups).
In traditional graphics, this seems straightforward: First plot all the data
using 'type="n"', and subsequently execute a series of "points"

xyplot and panel.curve
Hi All
I have regression coefficients from an experiment and I want to plot them
in lattice using panel curve but I have run into error messages.
I want an 3 panel conditioned plot of 2 curves of Treatment 2 in each panel
conditioned by Treatment1, the example curve expression is x+value*x^2
A rough toy example to give an idea of what I want is:

Rectangle height in lattice xyplot key
Dear All
I have a problem with the height of the boxes in the key in the following.
(The text is over 2 lines to accentuate the problem of no space
between the rectangles.)
Is there an easy way to put a space between the rectangles; size
controls the width but there appears to be nothing for the height?

Help xyplot
Hi Mackay and anybody
(a) Is it possible to select randomly (let say five grids) and plot?
(b) Is it possible to plot five nearest grid in one figure?
The original question and improved codes:
#I am ploting gridded time series data. I would like the actual lat

use same breaks and colors, but the displayed scale are different-image.plot()
Hi all,
I want to put several figures in a one figure for easy comparison, so i
need to use the same methods to plot these figures. The following is an
example. I also list my method, but it does not work.
#Example data
x<- 1:10; y<- 1:10; z<- outer( x,y,"+");z2<- outer( x,y,"-")
#Quick view them
image.plot(x,y,z) #relatively larger value
image.plot(x,y,z2)

Specifying point symbol fill colour in lattice xyplot keys
Dear all,
When defining explicit keys with xyplot, I have previously used the fill
parameter to set the background colour of point symbols. That's no
longer working for me, and I am wondering whether it's a bug or whether
I've misinterpreted the documentation and have been relying on a feature
wasn't intended. If the latter, can anyone suggest the correct way to do it?

superimposing xyplots on same scale
I have two xyplots that i want to superimpose (code below). By default they
are displayed on slightly different y scales (one runs from 10 to 25, the
other from 10 to 30). I would like to force them both onto the same scale
(10 to 30) so the relation between the two is clear. Is there a way to do
this?
thanks much

xyplot() or splom()?: two factors from same data frame
I'm not seeing how to plot the quantities associated with two values of a
factor by reading the ?xyplot help page and Deepayan's book. Perhaps I need
to generate many different subsets from the data frame, but that would
require _many_ new data frames.
The structure of the data frame (for a single stream) has sites (factor),
a date (as.Date), parameters (factor), and quantities

accessing ylim set by xyplot
Hello,
I would like to know if there is a clever way to avoid the problem
illustrated below within the xyplot function.
x <- seq(1:10)
y <- seq(1:10)
pr1 <- xyplot(x ~ y)
u <- seq(1:12)
v <- seq(1:12)
pr2 <- xyplot(u ~ v, col = "red", more = FALSE)
prts <- list(pr1, pr2)
for(i in prts) print(i, more = TRUE)
I realize that one possibility is to

second y-axis in lattice xyplot
Dear R-help,
I recently discovered lattice xyplot, but have been struggling with plotting a second y-axis. I am able to do this with plot() but can't figure it out in xyplot. Any help would be appreciated.
I have found help on adding a second Y-axis when the data is all part of the same data frame, but I have two different data frames.
Both data sets are being plotted against "Date".

lattice xyplot strip colors and location
Hi all,
I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to modify an xyplot I created using the lattice package. I would like to change default strip colors and locations.
I started with numeric data in 4 columns, which look like this:
0.25 2 1 32
0.25 2 2 30
0.25 2 3 27
0.25 2 4 23
0.25 2 5 17
0.25 3 1 30

lattice: column titles using xlab.top in multipanel xyplot
Hi,
I created a xyplot with a three-column layout. As suggested by Deepayan I tried to put titles to each column by using xlab.top. Unfortunately, as my y-axis scale relation = "free", the column titles are not centered at the three x axes anymore. Any idea how to center the titles?
#Example:
require(lattice)
#require(latticeExtra)
e <- data.frame(a = c(1:30), b = c(1:10, 20:29,

Remove several numbers from a sequence
Can anyone tell me how to remove several numbers for a sequence. For example:
xx<- c(1,5,7,10)
yy<-seq(1,10,1)
how do I get take xx away from yy to get the new sequence
2,3,4,6,8,9
Many thanks in advance

One question about saving graph by using xyplot
Hey, folk.
I am trying to get many figures by using the function "xyplot" in the library "lattice". I tried to using the loop to finish it quickly. But I cannot open the saved file after I run the program. But if I use the function "plot" to get other simply figures, it can work. So I want to ask how I can get the saved figures by using "xyplot".

xyplot lattice fine control of axes limits and thick marks (with log scale)
After a long and winding road (sorry but I'm a novice) I get to a final
result which is quite close to what I need;
nevertheless I would like to tweak a little further the xyplot so that I can
get ***for each single panel defined by variable z*** a finer control over:
-the x and y the limits: I would like to be the same for both axes;
-the number of thick marks: again I would like to be same

R2.4 xyplot + panel.number problem
Hi all;
I'm trying to display a 2 panel plot for the Puromycin data from R
with 2 different non-linear models fitted to each group. The problem
is that as far as I know panel.number doesn't work in the latest
version of R. Can anyone give a hint how to solve this?
Here is the code that I used before and now doesn't work
