Switchtower question: how to use SVN export
I use Switchtower to deploy my Ruby on Rails application, which works
great. However, it appears to be doing a SVN checkout, which includes
all the .svn directories as well. I would rather do an export from SVN.
Is it possible to configure Switchtower to do this, or can I extend it
in the deploy.rb? I haven''t been able to find any examples on the
internet so far.
thanks,

Switchtower for production?
Hello,
The company that I work for will be developing a large webbased survey
(for a government institution) somewhere in Q1/Q2 of 2006. I''m
investigating the technological possibilities and Rails is certainly a
candidate. The survey application will have to perform under very high
peak load, and the exact specifications of the hardware are not known
at this point. I''m assuming

Needle + Rails - IoC
Hi,
I''m looking for past efforts to integrate Rails and Needle. I am
thinking of doing it myself but would be interested in seeing what
others have done before.
If there are examples of other IoC frameworks being used with Ruby I''d
be interested in hearing about them too. I find IoC to be a helpful
concept in general and, having glanced at a few existing Rails app.s, I

rake remote_exec on Windows
I am using the shovel deploy.rb from http://nubyonrails.com/pages/shovel
I have SwitchTower-ized my app, copied the shovel deploy.rb file and put
my settings in it.
But when I run "rake remote_exec ACTION=setup_lighty" from the local app
root it has no effect. It should prompt for a password for at least
throw an error? I just get returned to the DOS prompt.
If I do "rake

first ajax demo in Rails book - does it work for anyone?
Just tried the first AJAX example in the rails book (p.391-392, the
''word guessing'' thing), and the AJAX partial used seems to render as a
full page.
I''m not sure whether it''s
a) a partial bug
b) some interaction between ajax and partials
c) a change since the book came out
or
d) pilot error
I''ve checked the errata pages and it''s flagged up

iSCSI on a single interface?
Hi, are there currently any plans to make an iSCSI target created by
setting shareiscsi=on on a zvol
bindable to a single interface (setting tpgt or acls)?
I can cobble something together with ipfilter,
but that doesn''t give me enough granularity to say something like:
''host a can see target 1, host c can see targets 2-9'', etc.
Also, am I right in thinking without

Changing plugins_path in Rails::Configuration
I have two apps sharing a common model and lib. I''d like to share my
plugins as well, however I noticed that the plugins_path in the
Rails::Configuration (0.14.2) is not accessible as is view_path or
log_path. What would be the best way to go about accomplishing this?
Thanks.

Help with Apache config
I have been attempting for days to configure Apache for Rails. I have
read forums, followed How-To''s all in vain. I am hoping someone can help
me out. I am getting the Rails Welcome screen, but when trying to go to
any other url, I get the 500.html message. Take a look for yourself at
http://66.139.78.237 and click on "about your application''s
environment".

Does anyone use RedCloth to allow end user input?
I was hoping to use RedCloth for textilize support to allow end users to
enter textilized text (In blog comments, for example), but these bugs seem
to make RedCloth unsuitable for that purpose:

Hi,
What's the purpose of test/mocks? I couldn't quite complete the Wiki

compression=on and zpool attach
I''ve got 12Gb or so of db+web in a zone on a ZFS filesystem on a mirrored zpool.
Noticed during some performance testing today that its i/o bound but

any CPU, so I thought turning on compression would be a quick win.
I know I''ll have to copy files for existing data to be compressed, so
I was going to
make a new filesystem, enable compression and rysnc everything in,

NFS share problem with mac os x client
Hello, I test right now the beauty of zfs. I have installed opensolaris on a spare server to test nfs exports. After creating tank1 with zpool and a subfilesystem with zfs tank1/nfsshare, I have set the option sharenfs=on to tank1/nfsshare.
With Mac OS X as client I can mount the filesystem in Finder.app with nfs://server/tank1/nfsshare, but if I copy a file an error ocours. Finder say "The

SCSI synchronize cache cmd
Hi,
I work on a support team for the Sun StorEdge 6920 and have a
question about the use of the SCSI sync cache command in Solaris
and ZFS. We have a bug in our 6920 software that exposes us to a
memory leak when we receive the SCSI sync cache command:

It will take some time for this bug fix to role out to the field so we

HTML sanitizer
Hello!
Does anybody know of a Ruby implementation of a HTML sanitizer that
prevents the attacks described on the xss cheatsheet?
I checked out the version Jamis wrote
(http://dev.rubyonrails.com/ticket/1277), but that only covers the
very basic attacks.
Anybody? Just figured I would ask before, before I reinvent the wheel..
Ciao!

SwitchTower 1.0.1, SwitchTower Extensions
SwitchTower is a utility that can execute commands in parallel on
multiple servers. It allows you to define tasks, which can include
commands that are executed on the servers. You can also define roles
for your servers, and then specify that certain tasks apply only to
certain roles.

SwitchTower deployment has errors with different :db server
When I define :db to be a different server than either :web or :app, and run
"rake deploy". Switchtower will abort with an Net::SSH::AuthenticationFailed
error. The version of Switchtower I''m using is 1.0.0 and the deploy task is
the default supplied with Switchtowe.
However, I dont have any problem when :db is changed to the same as :web and
:app.
