Example using Builder::XmlMarkup and .rxml files?
Greetings,
I''m a newby to both "R"s in RoR. I would like to use Builder::XmlMarkup
to generate my pages. If there is a working downloadable example
somewhere, that would probably be enough. Otherwise, here''s what
I want to do:

Illustrating kernel distribution in wheat ears
Dear all
R2.10 WinXP
I have a dataset dealing with the way different wheat cultivars build their yield.
Wheat ears are organised in spikelets where the spikelets can be numbered from the bottom, with even numbers on one side and odd on the other.
I know how many kernels there were in each spikelet after some months spent counting them...
Now I want to illustrate the differences between the

Samba and Redhat
I am wondering if someone can assist me with a dilemma I have regarding
samba on Redhat 8.0 and my printer.
I have one linux machine running samba and I can connect to the printer
and print normally from my winXP and 9x machines.
I have another RH8 machine that is supposed to be the replacement for
the now functioning machine and for the life of me I cannot get the
printer (same printer as the

Volunteer RoR help for a non-profit? (point2good.org)
Not sure if this is the right place to ask the question, but it''s a good
place to start.
I am running Point2Good, a non-profit website built on RoR. P2G raises
money for charity by using Google Adwords for Search.
Version 1.0 was written by me, not a professional coder. I''m sure there
are many things I have done wrong or could have done better/differently.

Are all RC3 implementations identical?
I'm a loyal user of GoldWave (http://www.goldwave.com/), and recently the Ogg Vorbis support module has been updated to RC3.
Is it still safer for me to save files as WAV and then use the "official" tool (oggenc) to encode my files, or are all RC3 implementations the same, and it makes no difference with what program I encode the files, as long as the module uses the latest

Refused oplock on NFS mounted file system
Hi all,
I have been a loyal user of SAMBA since about 1996(?), and I recently
upgraded a RH linux based system from by skipping a few generations
and going directly from rh9 to FC5. Mostly everything is working,
but there is an issue I haven't worked out yet with SAMBA.
The main server here in our group has several shares, including some
that are mounted from other servers via nfs,

debian squeeze i386 test package available
Howdy,
I'm working on reviving the debian packages. I haven't done debian
packaging in a while, so I've put an alpha build of 1.3.8 on
http://www.austinenglish.com/blah. Currently only squeeze/i386, but if
these work well, and there is interest, I can do the other
releases/64-bit versions.
Please let me know if they do/don't work for you, or any other feedback.
Cheers,
Austin

when I try to compile the SwfDec, the configure report a error:
checking for GLIB... Requested 'glib-2.0 >= 2.10' but version of GLib is 2.4.7

Can't I compile the SwfDec with a newer version of the Glib (GLib is
2.4.7) ???
What I need to do to fix this problem?
thanks,

New to CentOS, is this a safe bet?
I know this may be a stupid place to ask, but I have to ask. I'm looking
for a new Linux distro to use and support. I've been a loyal purchaser
of SuSE Linux Pro for the last 3 years. I've paid my $90 loyally, in
part because I wanted money to actually go to someone working on OSS,
but also because I thought it was a good bargain, to get a quality,
tested distro for that cost.

File permission problems
Hi knowledgeable samba users,
I had to upgrade from samba 2.2.0 on a suse linux server (7.2). Server died after two 2+ years of loyal services - otherwise I would not have changed...
Now I have a samba 3.0.9-2.6 on suse 9.1. I can access the files only r-x, i.e. all files appear as read only.
Trying to trouble shoot I have:
- chmod-ed all the files of all the shares to 777

ISO as CDROM
I have a laptop that has no CDROM, so I have to use an ISO. Anyway, I use to be able to mount the ISO at /media/cdrom and wine would recognize it as a cdrom. Now, when I try the same thing it doesn't recognize it as a cdrom. I have added /media/cdrom as a cdrom in winecfg, but still no luck. Can someone help me out, because this is the only thing preventing me from using my program (damn DRM).

RoR developers in China needed
I would like to offshore the development of a brand new web application
to a few engineers in China and am wondering if I would be able to find
RoR developers there. Since it''s a fairly new framework, maybe there are
people who are learning right now. My aim is to find people who are very
experienced with J2EE web application development and have a strong
interest in working with

Code reviews: my dumb use of acts_as_commentable (newbie)
With the help of several heroes here yesterday I beat my way into a
working solution to adding comments to one or more models in my
application using acts_as_comentable. Great plugin, but my
implementation is lame. I need enlightenment.
I have users who log in. For several views I want to let them add
comments. Enter act_as_commentable which does just this -- it''s
polymorphic, so you

OpenSSH_4.3p2 on AIX ssh-agent does not work
After installing this OpenSSH build on our AIX v5.2 systems, some users
started complaining that their logins failed.
We are using the binary build "OpenSSH 4.3p2-r2 for AIX 5.2" posted on
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openssh-aix/
Digging deeper, we find that these failing users have their clients
configured to use ssh-agent.
this appears in the syslog at the time of their attempted
