fitting a gompertz model through the origin using nls
Dear all! I tried to fit Gompertz growth models to describe cummulative germination rates using nls. I used the following code: germ.model<-nls(percent.germ~a*exp(-b*exp(-k*day)),data=tab,start=list(a=100,b=10,k=0.5)) My problem is that I want that the fitted model goes through the origin, since germination cannot start before the experiment was started, and y-max should be 100. weighting in nls
I'm fitting nonlinear functions to some growth data but I'm getting radically different results in R to another program (Prism). Furthermore the values from the other program give a better fit and seem more realistic. I think there is a problem with the results from the r nls function. The differences only occur with weighted data so I think I'm making a mistake in the weighting.

How to use nls when [selfStart] function returns NA or Inf??

Nonlinear weighted least squares estimation
Hi there, I'm trying to fit a growth curve to some data and need to use a weighted least squares estimator to account for heteroscedasticity in the data. A weights argument is available in nls that would appear to be appropriate for this purpose, but it is listed as 'not yet implemented'. Is there another package which could implement this procedure? Hello I?m need fitt growth curve with data length-age. I want to evaluate which is the function that best predicts my data, to do so I compare the Akaikes of different models. I'm now need to evaluate if changing the initial values changes the parameters and which do not allow to estimate the model. nls for piecewise linear regression not converging to least square
