ANNOUNCE--Rdsm package, a threads-like environment for R
My long-promised Rdsm package is now on CRAN. Some of you may recall
that I made a prototype available on my own Web page last July. This is
the official version, much evolved since I released the prototype.
The CRAN description states:
Provides a threads-like programming environment for R, usable both on
a multicore machine and across a network of multiple machines. The

how can I use R functions in Fortran 90
Hi all,
Is there a way that I can import R functions into Fortran? Especially, I
want to generate random numbers from some not-so-common distributions (e.g.
inverted chi square) but did not find any routines written in Fortran that
deal with distributions other than uniform and normal.
Thanks.

Histogram probabilities >1 ????!!!
Hi everybody,
well, I definitely don't understand anything.
Why the hist function with freq=FALSE gives such a strange result???
R <- c(-1.10, 0.79, -1.17, -0.53, -0.26, -0.22, 0.29, -0.26, -0.26, 0.39)
hist(R, freq=FALSE, breaks=10)
Thanks everybody

How to apply five lines of code to ten dataframes?
Hello R-helpers,
I have 10 dataframes (named data1, data2, ... data10) and I would like to
add 5 new columns to each dataframe using the following code:
data1$LogDepth<-log10(data1[,2]/data1[,4])
data1$LogArea<-log10(data1[,3]/data1[,5])
data1$p<-2*data1[,6]/data1[,7]
data1$Exp<-data1[,2]^(2/data1[,8])
data1$s<-data1[,3]/data1[,9]
...but I would prefer not to repeat this chunk of

set condition in R
Hi, R users,
I'm using while() in R to set a condition. My condition is: i<523 or i>535.
How should I write this in R? I try "while (i<523 or i>535)" and it does not
work. Thanks.

Learning R - View datasets
Hi All,
I am making a serious effort to try to learn R, but one hurdle I am facing is that I need to "see" the data as I walk through the examples in the packages. For instance, many examples on the web start by a command like data("wines"). How can I actually view what the dataset looks like prior to transformations and analysis? I have tried to use edit() , print, and

savePlot for Mac and / or Linux?
Hi all,
In the package rtlu, I use the function savePlot. It is convenient since
it let the user decide in which graphic format he wants his graph to be
export.
But when I run R CMD check, I get the following message :

3}",graphName="V1")

how to count unique observations by variables
Dear R-helpers,
I have a data frame with 3 variables, each record is a unique combination of
the three variables. I would like to count the number of unique values of v3
in each v1, and save it as a new variable v4 in the same data frame.
e.g.
df1
[v1] [v2] [v3]
[1,] "a" "C" "1"
[2,] "b" "C" "2"
[3,] "c" "B"

Subset sum problem.
Hi,
I'm quite new to the R-project. I was suggested to look into it because I am
trying to solve the "Subset sum" problem", which basically is:
Given a set of integers and an integer s, does any non-empty subset sum to s?
(See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subset_sum_problem)
I have been searching the web for quite some time now (which is how I
eventually discovered that my

Import multiple tif raster
Dear community
Dear Ivan
Thanks a lot. The code works now. Solution: direct and full path to the .tif files.
I confused back and forward slash

rastlist <- list.files(path = "C:/Users/Sibylle St?ckli/Desktop/NCCS_Impacts_Lot2_2022/InVEST/Species_Input/valpar_bee_presence", pattern='.tif$', all.files= T, full.names= T)

Thanks a lot.
I tried now to provide the full path. However probably the "?" in the path produces the error, would that be possible?

Creating an Excel file with multiple spreadsheets
DeaR all,
I'd like to know how to create an Excel file with multiple spreadsheets from
R. I searched the help files and found [1] but it is not what I want to do.
Let's say I have a data frame called DF as in the following code

set.seed(123)
ID<-sample(5,100,replace=TRUE)
X<-rnorm(100)
Y<-rpois(100,10)
Z<-X*Y
DF<-data.frame(ID,X,Y,Z)
str(DF)

[LLVMdev] Ordering not assigned to DAG Nodes create after DAG builder
Hi,
It seems orderings are not assigned to DAG nodes created after the DAG builder, e.g., DAG nodes created during legalization. This causes instructions being scheduled in different order than source order for O0.
This is my plan to fix it:
Make a utility routine that recursively assign ordering to a chain of nodes, just like what SelectionDAGBuilder::AssignOrderingToNode() does.
Then add call

help with parsing multiple coxph() results
Dear All:
I have a question on using coxph for multiple genes:
I have written code to loop through all 22283 genes in the Hgu-133A and
apply coxph on survival data.
However, I don't know how to work with the result for each gene:
survtest<-coxph(Surv(pcc.primary.stg.3.cox[,'fup_interval'],pcc.primary.stg.

[LLVMdev] Ordering not assigned to DAG Nodes create after DAG builder
Hi Xiaoyi,
Do you still see this behavior after r177525? I recently fixed several
places where ordering was not propagated, including during legalization.
There are probably still cases that are missed, but I'd be interested in
seeing a missed case. I'm guessing it's a legalization that expands to
multiple new nodes. The AssignOrdering calls in the legalizer may need to
be expanded
