WAR file installation
Hi Friends,
Currently i am using R-2.9.1. I am new to R and i am in learning stage.
Can any one tell me whether R allows WAR file installation?
Other concerns i have are:
1. Does R allows WAR file installation?
2. Does R has a web server or application server concept?
3. Can we create login credentials in R?
Kindly clarify these things...
Regards,
Madana

Importing Time Series Data for an R Beginner
Hi, I'm trying to learn R for a project I'm working on. I know several programming languages, so I'm comfortable with the syntax. What I can't figure out is how to import the file of time series data that I have and parse it into individual series. The data was given to me in Excel, but I can output it to tab-delimited or csv. I've been able to pull in the entire table with

Multiple CPU HowTo in Linux?
Hello all,
I upgraded my R workstation, and to my dismay, only one core appears to
be used during intensive computation of a bioconductor function.
What I have now is two dual-core Xeon 5160 CPUs and 10 GB RAM. When I
fully load it, top reports about 25% user, 75% idle and 0.98 short-term
load.
The archives gave nothing helpful besides mention of snow. I thought of
posting to HPC, but this system

Axes=F and plotting dual y axes
Howdy. Been running into a bit of trouble with plotting. Seems that
axes=F is not "working". Whenever I plot (either a dataframe or xts/zoo
series) and I set axes=F along with xlab/ylab="" I still get the default
axes printed in my chart. Consider this:
#Create some sample data, both 50 units of blah
series2 = c(1:50)
series1 = rep(25:74)
testdf1 = as.data.frame(series1)

POSIX, timezones and R-ODBC
Howdy-
I recently upgraded to R 2.9.1 and did the updates for all of my packages. A
few of them now *suggest* the TZ variable to be set, which I did:
> Sys.getenv("TZ")
TZ
""
> Sys.setenv(TZ="America/New_York")
> Sys.getenv("TZ")
TZ
"America/New_York"

2.11.0 on ubuntu (hardy) inadvertently installed
Hi-
Looks like this morning, I did the ultimate in foobar to a main prod
box. I was using apt-get upgrade on the box and totally missed the fact
that my entire R installation went from 2.10.0 to 2.11.0.
I now have a bunch of pkgs that aren't loading due to the fact that they
were built before 2.10.0 -- There's some *ancient* packages, like (sma)

Dialing out of a voicemail message?
Anyway to make hitting `0` during a voice mail dial an extension? The
bosses used to have that feature and love it.
Their VM prompt would say: "Hello, My name is blah blah. I am currently
unavailable. If you would like to speak to an operator press 0 now,
otherwise leave me a message".
Extension 0 exists, but dialing it during a VM prompt does nothing.
Thanks,

libedit not found on SUse 11.1
Included below is a diff between the output from configure on a 64 bit
SUse 11.1 (doesn't find libedit) and a 64 bit Suse 10.3 (does find
libedit) for otherwise identical setups.
1. How can I get the output set up to look at conftest.c?
2. I added a set -x to configure above LIBEDIT_MSG=no
3. ./configure --with-ldflags="-L/usr/lib64" --with-cflags="-ggdb3

Installing R in Ubuntu
Hello, I am new to Ubuntu (Linux in general) and I am trying to install R: so far, I am stuck. I have followed the instructions at the CRAN website with little luck. I read an exchange about the same issue posted before, but did not give me enough information to solve things by myself, hence, this email. Based on the former exchange I read, I am trying to include enough information to see if

workgroups not recognized in virtual server conf files
Hi,
The documentation I've read indicates that I should be able to get Samba to
honor the value of the 'workgroup' variable as set from within an included
virtual server configuration file.
Given the configuration files below, if I comment out the
"workgroup = testwg"
line from the main configuration file (smb.conf), then a query of
the Samba server (with

Integrating R and Textmate
To Whom It May Concern:
I need to use various packages in R and I also want to use Textmate.
Problem 1: Textmate doesn't seem to recognize the packages that are
already installed on R. Problem 2:
When I execute the following command:

Cannot install R on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Hello everyone,
I've spent the last 2 days trying to install base R on my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
machine. I even just wiped my entire computer and reinstalled the operating
system thinking that was the problem (since some people have problems
updating R).
So far I've tried to follow this link exactly that has instructions:

Since I just reinstalled Ubuntu I

Cannot update 2.8.1 packages: unable to access index for repository...
I am having trouble updating packages for R 2.8.1 in Windows XP. Note that I *am* able to update packages for R 2.7.0 (see bottom of posting) so this is not an Internet proxy problem. The steps I took were to
(a) Copy over packages from my existing (2.7.0) library subdiretory to the R 2.8.1 library subdirectory. This included a long list of packages including RODBC, rpart, RGraphViz, ggplot2
