reshaping pairs of columns
Given a data frame consisting of a pointID and 12 pairs of (lat, long) variables, with names latA, longA, latB, longB, ... latL, longL, I want to reshape it into a data frame with the structure point source lat long 1 A ... ... 1 B ... ... I've looked at reshape and plyr, but can't figure out how to do this. Details of my data frame are below

How to deal with this :" object ' obs' not found.
Hi guys, I need your help. I'm trying to sort the data by the variable "obs". This is how I tried to sort the data below. The problem is, I have a variable name "obs"; this is.. a counter variable. something like _n_ in SAS. I do not know why it is not working. I even tried a similar example in UCLA webpage: http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/R/faq/sort.htm :it also does not

Making multiple columns to a single column
Hi guys, I have a very simple question. I'm trying to make multiple columns to a single column. For example, *ttx1* is a 46*72 matrix. so, I tried this. *d1=ttx1[,1] d2=ttx1[,2] ... d72=ttx1[,72]* now, d1, d2, ...,d72 become a 46*1 matrix. And then.. I tried.. *dd=rbind(d1, d2, ..., d72)* I thought *dd* should be 3312*1 matrix; but it becomes 72*46. I really wanted to make it a single

One critical question in R
Hi, I have one critical question in using R. I am currently working on some research which involves huge amounts of data(it is about 15GB). I am trying to use R in this research rather than using SAS or STATA. (The company where I am working right now, is trying to switch SAS/STATA to R) As far as I know, the memory limit in R is 4GB; However, I believe that there are ways to handle the large

Labeling matrix data
Hello all - I am sorry if this simple question is addressed in somewhere else. But, I couldn't find it. It's been for about a week using R. . . My problem is: Reading matrix data with "scan" does not seem to allow me to incorporate matrix labels (columns, and rows). If I use read.table, I can import the lables. But, the problem is, I don't know how I make this data as

Newbie questions
Hi..... I am new to this software, and I want to implement a client (SIP or IAX) with PHP or at least to pass the main functions (connection, call, transfer, hangup, call id etc) to a CRM. Does anyone know if I could achive a project like that with AGI ? Any example using AGI with PHP ? Do I have all the functionality with AGI ? What about call id ? What is depend on ? (As I know * does not

Sampling data without having infinite numbers after diong a transformation
Hello R-helpers.. I want to ask about how I can sample data sets without having the infinite numbers coming out. For example, set.seed(1234) a<-rnorm(15,0,1) b<-rnorm(15,0,1) c<-rnorm(15,0,1) d<-rnorm(15,0,36) After come out with the sample, I need to do a transformation (by Hoaglin, 1985) for each data set. Actually I need to measure the skewness and kurtosis, that's why I

seeking a help on if function
Hello r helpers! Below is the whole coding for my programme. Before proceed more further, let me explain for you. First of all, I need to compute trimmed mean. Till that step is ok. Then I need to compute ssdw which is sum of square deviation. If I do equal trimming at both tail of distribution that I chose, I will use the first ssd formulae which is "a". But if I am doing unequal

Difficulty creating Julian day in data frame

How to average values from grid cells with coordinates
Hi lily, You could also create "blackcells" as a dataframe (which is itself a type of list). I used a list as I thought it would be a more general solution if there were different numbers of values for different grid cells. The use of 1 for the comparison was due to the grid increments being 1. If you had larger or smaller grid increments, you would use the grid increment size for the

errors with GeForce GTX 650 Ti and 3 monitors
Hi, Using 3 monitors on the GeForce GTX 650 Ti card (2 DVI and 1 VGA) works great out of the box on Fedora 20. However, every couple of days the graphics driver seems to crash. The same thing used to happen when 2 monitors were in use, but that has pretty much stabilized as of late. Does anyone have a stable setup with this card using 3 monitors? Will 3 monitors be supported? Thanks, Rob $

errors with GeForce GTX 650 Ti and 3 monitors
There were fixes in 3.17 that were supposed to help this, but apparently they didn't help enough. See https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72180 -- basically some sort of card setup failure on our part is causing our ctxsw to die, but nvidia's appears to be more resilient to the screwups. How to average values from grid cells with coordinates
Hi lily, There are one or two assumptions to be made here. First is that the latitude and longitude values of the "black" cells are equally spaced as in your illustration. Second, that all latitude and longitude values for the "red" cells fall at the corners of four "black" cells. You can get the four "black" cells by finding the lat/lon values that are

rsync 3.0.9 hangs when syncing from NFSv3 share - possible to retry after timeout?
Hello, I'm using rsync 3.0.9 to backup several NFS shares from a fileserver, mounted over NFSv3, to a local RAID on a backup server. Both servers are running Ubuntu 12.04 server LTS. The fileserver's filesystem is ext4. The NFS shares are mounted on the backup server as follows: fileserver:/mnt/storage/share1 /mnt/share1 type nfs (ro,tcp,bg,soft,intr,addr=192.168.1.1)
