Because I work in different directories, but always want to save my
.Rhistory in the same place, I have changed the system function savehistory
to this:
function (file = "D:/R50/.Rhistory")
invisible(.Internal(savehistory(file)))

problem with the .Rhistory
Hello,
The history function doesn't seems to work when I am working with R.
I have a .Rhistory file in my working directory and I have tried
savehistory(file = ".Rhistory")
or the command given in the history help :
.Last <- function()
if(interactive()) try(savehistory(".Rhistory"))
and I get the same error message

.Rprofile, date tagging history, loading packages
Dear R-Helpers,
I'm fiddling with my .Rprofile in Windows XP & R 2.7.0 Beta. I prefer to
manually save my workspace but automatically save my command history via
the .Rprofile. That is working fine once I found that "utils::" was
required before the loadhistory & savehistory functions. What I would
like to do is add a separator line with a date between the histories of

Saving history across sessions

require(utils)

savehistory directories and quitting R (PR#2038)
Thanks-- as Duncan Murdoch also noted, R_HISTFILE can be used to solve my
problem, as below. BTW it's not easy to find out about R_HISTFILE in the
help system or manuals, though, unless you already know it exists-- it only
seems to be described under startup options, not things to do with history.
However, Duncan's reply did hint at an inconsistency, in that savehistory()

savehistory not working properly in R?
Dear R users,
I have a .RData which contains .Last object as follows:
.Last <- function ()
{
savehistory(file = ".Rhistory")
}
In this directory, if I issue the following command
Rterm --save < mycmds.q
to execute commands in mycmds.q and to save results in .RData,
I got the following error message towards the end of the execution:
Error in savehistory(file) :

file descriptor leak in getSrcLines in R 2.10.0 svn 48590
I noticed the following file descriptor leak when I couldn't remove
a package unless I shut down the R session that had loaded and
used it. The function that triggered the problem printed the output
of a call to parse(). Each time one prints a srcref a connection is
opened and not closed. It looks like it happens in
as.character.srcref's
call to getSrcLines, which has some logic I

Loadhistory problems
History files saved using nFile Save History do not open when using File Load History. I notice that when they are saved they do not seem to have a file extension and there is no option to chose an extension. Is this a problem. Other than this it seems so simple that I can't see what the problem is. I've tried using loadhistory and savehistory with the same problems. The syntax guide

How to wait for a user response in Rscript?

Rscript Bug Report (improper parsing of [args])
Hi,
A user of my `optparse` package discovered a bug in Rscript's parsing of
[args]. (https://github.com/trevorld/optparse/issues/24)
I've reproduced the bug on my machine including compiling and checking the
development version of R. I couldn't find a mention of it in the Bug
Tracker or New Features.
Can be minimally reproduced on the UNIX command line with following
commands:

Cannot use setClass() in Rscript

I am creating a standalone executable script using Rscript and have run
into problems when I define a new S4 class. Here is a small script that
demonstrates my problem:

A question about using getSrcDirectory() with R/Rscript
Good morning R-help,
I have an idiot question: I would like to use getSrcDirectory()
and friends to allow me to identify where an R file has been
called from when invoked using Rscript. If I understand the
documentation correctly, the following example should work:
In file test.R:
options(keep.source=T)
fn<-function(x){x<-x+1}
srcDir<-getSrcDirectory(fn)
print(srcDir)

Rscript path problem on R 2.13.1 for Ubuntu 11.04?
Dear all,
finally decided to do an Ubuntu upgrade and a new clean R install from
http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/.
However, while trying to install a package from R-forge I encountered
problems, involving error messages saying "Rscript execution error: No
such file or directory" (see below).
The same procedure works on Ubuntu 11.04 running R 2.12.1-1 from the

Rscript.Rd example (PR#9644)
One of the examples in Rscript.Rd seems mis-formatted, in that the
format statement is incomplete:

Both Rscript.Rd in R 2.5.0 and the version at:
https://svn.r-project.org/R/trunk/src/library/utils/man/Rscript.Rd
have
Rscript -e 'date()' -e 'format(Sys.time(), "%a %b %d %X %Y")'

Clearing Console; of weeks of codes!

I do see I have weeks of codes in my console when I check with my arrow up

problem with Rscript
Hi all, this is probably some tricky configuration file problem, but I
figure someone here might have come across this in the past:
In short, I've been using Rscript to run my scripts, usually
successfully. But recently I've run into a strange problem, and the
only function that causes an error is "print".
I can create a file that contains only a print command, and it causes

Change Rscript and `/usr/lib/R/bin/R` relation

I am trying to use multiple version of R unpacked from CRAN deb files.
It does work successfully, except for some packages installation, whether
Rscript has been used. I have configured alternatives and switch R
environments without any problem and can install most of the packages.
