Memory problem in multinomial logistic regression
Dear All I am trying to fit a multinomial logistic regression to a data set with a size of 94279 by 14 entries. The data frame has one "sample" column which is the categorical variable, and the number of different categories is 9. The size of the data set (as a csv file) is less than 10 MB. I tried to fit a multinomial logistic regression, either using vglm() from the VGAM package or

multinomial losgitic regression--vglm()
Dear: I try to analysis multinomial logistic regression using vglm in VGAM package. However, I wonder how many levels of responses variable this command is suitable. I saw the examples in google search works for 3 levels, say 1,2,3. However, my response variable is more than 3 levels. Is it working for my case or have alternative approach? Many thanks! Using VGAM's vglm function for ordinal logistic regression
R-Experts: I am using the vglm function of the VGAM library to perform proportional odds ordinal logistic regression. The issue that I would like help with concerns the format in which the response variable must be provided for this function to work correctly. Consider the following example: ------ library(VGAM) library(MASS) attach(pneumo) pneumo # Inspect the format of the original dataset

Multinomial logistic regression in complex surveys
Dear R-list members, I´m using the package "survey" and I need to find a function for multinomial logistic regression in a complex design. The functions that I see are only for dicotomic and ordinal variables. Thank you! extracting the residuals from models working with ordinal multinomial data
Hello I am having some problems for extracting the residuals from models working with ordinal multinomial data. Either working with the polr() function or the plsRglm () function, the residuals are "NULL". I guess this is because the data is multinomial but I do not know how to solve it. I have read the following in internet: "can you tell us how residuals would be defined in

Ordinal Mantel-Haenszel type inference
Hello, I am searching for an R-Package that does an exentsion of the Mantel-Haenszel test for ordinal data as described in Liu and Agresti (1996) "A Mantel-Haenszel type inference for cummulative odds ratios". in Biometrics. I see packages such as Epi that perform it for binary data and derives a varaince for it using the Robbins and Breslow variance method. As well as another pacakge

multinomial logit estimation
Good morning, I'd like to estimate a simple multinomial logit model in R (not a McFadden conditional logit). For instance, I'd like to estimate the probability of someone having one of eight titles in a company with the independent variables being the company characteristics. A binary logit is well documented. What about the multinomial? Thanks, Walt Paczkowski

package to do inverse probability weighting in longitudinal data
Hi there, I have a dataset from a longitudinal study with a lot of drop-out. I want to implement the inverse probability weighting method by Robins 1995 JASA paper "Analysis of semiparametric regression models for repeated outcomes in the presence of missing data". Does anyone know if there is a package to do it in R (or other software)? Thanks a lot! Lei

multivariate ordinal probit regression vglm()
Hello, all. I'm investigating the rate at which skeletal joint surfaces pass through a series of ordered stages (changes in morphology). Current statistical methods in this type of research use various logit or probit regression techniques (e.g., proportional odds logit/probit, forward/backward continuation ratio, or restricted/unrestricted cumulative probit). Data typically include the

multinomial logistic regression
Hi, how can I do multinomial logistic regression in R? I think glm() can only handle binary response variable, and polr() can only handle ordinal response variable. how to do logistic regression with multinomial response variable? Thanks __________________________________

R vglm new family writing: mix Poisson/multinomial
Hi dear R users, 1) I would like to know if there is a simple way to define a vglm family which would be a mix of poisson variables and bernoulli variables (0/1 response) for idea this would be invoked like this: vglm(...,family=mixpoissonmultinom(npoisson,n01response)) where the n's give the number of each type of response. 2) and a simpler question : How to use constraints in rrvglm?

constraint matrices in vglm (VGAM package)
Hello R users, I am performing a multinomial logit regression and would like to constrain a few model coefficients to be equal. Here is my model: multi <- vglm(case123con ~ SNP_A1+SNP_A2+age, multinomial, work.analy) where case123con is a four level categorical variable (case 1, case 2, case 3, control) and SNP_A1 and SNP_A2 are indicator functions (yes/no). The output of this

Cumulative multinomial regression using VGAM
Hi, I am trying to carry out a multinomial regression using the cumlogit link function. I have tried using the VGAM package, and have gotten some results... fit1 <- vgam(Y ~ X1 + X2 + X3 + X4, cumulative(link=logit,intercept.apply=FALSE,parallel=TRUE), data = data1 ) The problem arrises when I try to get the information out of the fitted object. I can

VGAM package released on CRAN
Dear useRs, upon request, the VGAM package (currently version 0.7-1) has been officially released on CRAN (the package has been at my website http://www.stat.auckland.ac.nz/~yee/VGAM for a number of years now). VGAM implements a general framework for several classes of regression models using iteratively reweighted least squares (IRLS). The key ideas are Fisher scoring, generalized linear and

Draw a circle on a filled.contour() plot

does multinomial logistic model from multinom (nnet) has logLik?
I want to get the logLik to calculate McFadden.R2 ,ML.R2 and Cragg.Uhler.R2, but the value from multinom does not have logLik.So my quetion is : is logLik meaningful to multinomial logistic model from multinom?If it does, how can I get it? Thank you! ps: I konw VGAM has function to get the multinomial logistic model with logLik, but I prefer use the function from "official" R

Hi all - my first time here and am having an issue with the Predict function. I am using a tutorial as a guide, locate here: http://www.ats.ucla.edu/STAT/R/dae/mlogit.htm My code gives this error > newdata1$predicted <- predict(mlogit,newdata=newdata1,type="response") Error in `$<-.data.frame`(`*tmp*`, "predicted", value = c(0.332822934960197, : replacement has

VGAM constraints-related puzzle
Hello R users, I have a puzzle with the VGAM package, on my first excursion into generalized additive models, in that this very nice package seems to want to do either more or less than what I want. Precisely, I have a 4-component outcome, y, and am fitting multinomial logistic regression with one predictor x. What I would like to find out is, is there a single nonlinear function f(x) which acts
