Problem with Freq function {prettyR}
Dear list, I have a problem with freq from prettyR. Please have a look at my syntax with a litte example: library(prettyR) #Version 1 test.df<-data.frame(q1=sample(1:4,8,TRUE), gender=sample(c("f","m"),8,TRUE)) test.df freq(test.df) #No error message #Version 2 test.df<-data.frame(gender=sample(c("f","m"),8,TRUE), q1=sample(1:4,8,TRUE)) test.df

Transfer Crosstable to Word-Document
# Dear list, # I am an R-beginner and # spent the last days looking for a method to insert tables produced # with R into a word document. I thought about SPPS: copy a table from # an SPO-file and paste it into a word document # (if needed do some formatting with that table). # Annother idea was, to produce a TEX-file, # insert it and make it a word-table. # I found the following libraries, which

Interaction plots (six on one page)
#Dear R users, #I want six interaction plots to be on one page, #but the following problem occurs: the legend "BMIakt" appears, #but it is exactly on the border of the plots (too far right). #My seccond question is, how I can reduce the empty space in the y-direction #between the plots. #Please have a look at my syntax below. #Many thanks! #Udo myData <-

Table of basic descriptive statistics like SPSS
Dear list readers, I want to: 1. Get a table of basic descriptive statistics for my variables with the variable names one below the other like SPSS descriptive statistics: Varname N Min Max Mean SD xxxx x x x x x xxx x x x x x .... 2. Delete some variables from a data frame or exclude variables from beeing analyzed. 3. Create a text file / redirect the terminal output to a

Barplot: Vertical bars with long labels
Dear List, I need a barplot with vertical bars. Each bar should have a label. The problem is, that the labels are too long, so they overlap, or only every seccond label is displayed in the output. Here is a little syntax: dd <- c(100,110,90,105,95) barplot(dd,names.arg=c('Conduct Disorders','Attention Deficit', 'Eating Disorders',

Matched pairs with two data frames
Hi, I have a frame "treat" and want to find matched pairs in the data frame "control". In the matched (combined) data frame there should be two variables (0/1),indicating the "source" of the data (treat or control), so that it is possibe to set a "filter" (extraxt/select data). #Here are the dataframes (my real data frames have many variables) treat <-

Variable names in lattice XY-plot
Hi, how can I get a more descriptive text instead of the variable names in my XY-lattice plot, according to the table below? Variable text acet = "Acetylaspartate Thalamus" chol = "Choline Thalamus" acetp = "Acetylaspartate parieoc" ino = "Inositole Thalamus" I could not find a solution. Please have a look at my syntax. Thanks a lot,

Sample size calculation for differences between two very small proportions (Fisher's exact test or others)?
Hi, I'm try to compute the minimum sample size needed to have at least an 80% of power, with alpha=0.05. The problem is that empirical proportions are really small: 0.00154 in one case and 0.00234. These are the estimated failure proportion of two medical treatments. Thomas and Conlon (1992) suggested Fisher's exact test and proposed a computational method, which according to their table

power calculation for repeated measures ANOVA?
Is there a way to calculate power for repeated measures ANOVA (2 groups x 7 observations)? I have searched all over, but all I can find is power.anova.test, but that would not give accurate results, right? Thanks, Matt Bridgman

Sample size calculations for one sided binomial exact test
I'm trying to compute sample size requirements for a binomial exact test. we want to show that the proportion is at least 90% assuming that it is 95%, with 80% power so any asymptotic approximations are out of the questions. I was planning on using binom.test to perform the simple test against a prespecified value, but cannot find any functions for computing sample size. do any exist?

Permanent change to the working directory
Dear helpers, I've looked in the help files (maybe not very thoroughly but I looked) and I couldn't find a straightforward way to permanently set the working directory (where I save and read files). Each time I startup R the working dir is automatically "C:/R/bin" [using:getwd()], and I know I can change it using setwd [for example setwd("C:/R/DATA"), but it's only

power and sample size for a GLM with poisson response variable
Hi all, I would like to estimate power and necessary sample size for a GLM with a response variable that has a poisson distribution. Do you have any suggestions for how I can do this in R? Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Craig -- Craig A. Faulhaber Department of Forest, Range, and Wildlife Sciences Utah State University 5230 Old Main Hill Logan, UT 84322 (435)797-3892

power and sample size for a GLM with Poisson response variable
Craig, Thanks for your follow-up note on using the asypow package. My problem was not only constructing the "constraints" vector but, for my particular situation (Poisson regression, two groups, sample sizes of (1081,3180), I get very different results using asypow package compared to my other (home grown) approaches. library(asypow) pois.mean<-c(0.0065,0.0003) info.pois <-

odfWeave: odt-file damaged
Dear all, I am doing my first steps with odfWeave. After running the r code (see below), I am trying to open the ODF-document with open office, but I am getting the error message: "The file is damaged, but it can be repaired". If I confirm the question and repair the file with open office, I can open it with the desired output, which seems to be fine. My system: R Version 2.9.1

Power calculation using pwr.t.test()
Dear R experts, I have conducted a power calculation in order to estimate the number of subjects needed to detect an effect size of d=0.28 (cohen's d) for a difference between two independent groups (alpha level should be 0.05 and the effect should be detected with 80% probability). The results from the code below indicates that I would need n=400 subjects (200 in each group). This is seems

Can access share by two different names .... Just one is configured.
Hi, I have a samba 4.6 member server joined to an 4.6 AD. There is a share named [videosupport2] with access rights for a user Videosupport. Now I’m able to connect to the share from an macOS client by share name videosupport2 AND just videosupport without the „2“ at the end …. Any hints why? Regards . Götz

power.t.test (PR#13891)
Full_Name: Michael J. Lew Version: R version 2.9.1 (2009-06-26) OS: OS X Submission from: (NULL) (210.49.195.149) The default function power.t.test gives inaccurate values, particularly with large sig.level. There are two reasons for me to propose that power.t.test is inaccurate: 1. When sig.level approaches 1, so should the power. However,

access denied but only in cetain situations
Hello we did reinstall a server and we also reinstalled samba ( using the old smb.conf ) Now we have a strange behavior. If i start a dos programm that resides on the samba server from the command line we get the message "access denied" ( Zugriff verweigert ). if I start the same program form windos start/run with the entire path, then the app starts. What is even stranger, after I
