mtext adj= wrong with several las= (PR#7188)
Dear all,
Our quite basic function mtext() does wrong adjustments in some parameter
configurations. This gets obvious when using multi line texts: There is no
way to properly adjust text perpendicular to axis 2, for example.

isdst warning when rounding a range of time data: fix or suppress?
Hi, I'm working with timeseries data. The values are every 5 seconds and each series can last up to 4-5 days.
To generate the x-axis labels, I'm doing the following:
=========================
# Variable for displaying hours on the x-axis
rtime <<- as.POSIXct(round(range(timedata), "hours"))
# Variable for displaying days on the x-axis

How to Populate List
Hi,
I'm new to R and would like to know, how one can populate the list with array data.
I'm reading a tab separated table in R. The data in the table looks something like this.

Extracellular 103 268 535759
Nucleus 45603 47783 442744

Moving to Mac OS X
Hi all,
I have been using R on Windows for a long time, but now I am ready to move to Mac OS X, but I was just wondering if R works better on Mac than on Windows. This is because I had some memory size issues in the past.
Another question is if some of you know an R editor for Mac (just like Tinn-R).
Thanks.

multiple plots problem
hello,
i try to plot 3 graphs which have the same x.axis underneath each other. i'd
like the plots to be aligned without margings between the boxes and draw a
single x axis beneath the lowest plot.
i managed to get the alignment by setting par(mar), but the middle box is
stretched
and i cant't figure out how to get around this. par(pin) was my guess, but
this doesn't do the job

How to remove the vertical space between two graps
Hi,
I have created a barplot using the following code.
a<-c(11,23,15,34,42,31)
m<-matrix(a,nrow=2)
m[2,]<-(-1)*m[2,]
par(mar=c(4,4,4,0))
barplot(m[2,],horiz=T)
par(mar=c(4,0,4,2))
barplot(m[1,],horiz=T,col="black")
and the plot obtained is shown in "plot1.tiff".
I was not willing to see the gap (vertical space) between two graphs.
How can I achieve it?

Rotated, Right-Justified Labels for Shortened Tick Marks
Hello R-help,
I'm trying to make a fairly simple plot axis that goes something like
this:
plot(-10:10,-10:10, yaxt='n')
axis(side=2, las=1, hadj=1, tck=-.01, cex.axis=.6)
...but as you can see, the labels are not close enough to the y-axis
(where I want them... to save space for publication).
Can anybody help me figure out how to move these labels over the the
right a bit?

Labels on a pyramide
I am using pyramid.plot() from the plotrix package.
I have something like this

Christmas tree graphs
Hello R users,
I wish to draw a type of horizontal bar chart for two groups (males and
females). The values for one group will start at the y-axis and point to the
left, and the values for the other group will start at the y-axis and point to
the right. If you're (un)lucky, the resulting graph can assume the shape of a
Christmas tree.
The data are
left.side <- c(107092, 113053,

pyramid.plot in plotrix, axis labelling
Hi, I've been looking at ways to make pyramid plots in R. I like the pyramid.plot method in plotrix as it seems the simplest to use and building them in ggplot looks a bit more code intensive than I'd like, being as I'm new to R. This package does pretty much what I need it to do, however I can't seem to scale the x axis labels. The other labels scale fine with labelcex.

shifting ticks to left or right
Hey list,
Does anybody knows a command to centre the tick mark labels exactly
between the tick points (right shift)?
And then to exclude the last tick label on the right?
I know one can shift them using the 'hadj' option in par. But I am
wondering if there is a more convenient command!
Thanks a lot!!

Transparency and pyramid.plot
Hi all
Another question related to my earlier -- how might I get transparency to work
with pyramid.plot in library(plotrix)? I can't figure it out, and the help page
says it is there but doesn't give an example.
Thanks!

Confused with an error message related to "plotrix" library in the newer versions of R.
Dear R Users,
Greetings!
I am confused with an error message related to "plotrix" library in the
newer versions of R.
I used to run an R script without fail in the earlier versions (R 2.8.1) of
R; but the same script is now throwing up an error message in the newer
versions (Now I have R 2.13.0 & R 2.14.0).
Herewith I am furnishing the same code for your perusal. It would

Plot: Distance between tick and tick label on y-axis
Hello,
I want to reduce the distance between my ticks and their labels. I managed
to do it for the x-axis, but the y-axis puzzles me. Here's an example where
there is no space between the x-asix ticks and labels.
par(las=1)
plot(runif(50), type="l",xaxt="n",yaxt="n",ylab="", bty="l")
axis(2)
axis(1,padj=-1.5)
#However,

Unicorn workers under Monit
Hi there,
I would like to config Monit to monitor our production-unicorn-workers
What memory size would you recommend to be the maximum reachable for a worker? so Monit can restart it.
Thanks a lot !
