Using idmap_rid backend, cannot browse home directory from XP
Samba version is 3.0.10 on Gentoo linux. I am trying to use idmap_rid backend in a Windows AD environment, the Linux PC acting only as a domain member. I am using idmap_rid because I need UID/GID predictability. I can log in to console correctly, and it shows the right user and the "Domain Users" as the group. When I use default winbind TDB, I can browse the home directory from an XP

Error in make.names when trying to read.table in if statement
Hi, I'm trying to read data from a collection of CSV files for processing and graphing. All of my files begin with "modrate" and end with ".csv". I think I have the regex working but I am stumped at trying to get read.table to work within an if statement. This works: > filepattern="modrate*" > files <- list.files(pattern=filepattern) > data

Can''t login with Xen and Gentoo
Hi all, I installed Xen 3.0.2 using Gentoo portage. The kernel boots ok to the console but when I try to login either as root or myself it won''t authenticate. I read some posts that mentioned not having a populated /dev directory but this is in place. It also contains a full range of tty* and has console in it. I''m at a loss for what to look for. Reading a txt file from internet
That looks like a UTF-16LE byte order mark. Simply open the connection with the proper encoding: read.delim( 'https://online.stat.psu.edu/onlinecourses/sites/stat501/files/ch15/employee.txt', fileEncoding = "UTF-16LE" ) On Sat, Sep 7, 2024 at 3:57?PM Christofer Bogaso <bogaso.christofer at gmail.com> wrote: > > Hi, > > I am trying to the data from >

If the BOM indicated big-endian then the file decoding would break. If there is a BOM, don't override it unless you have to (e.g. for a wrong BOM)... leave off the LE unless you really
